  • In this paper two so-called regularized Green's functions are introduced to derive the optimal maximum norm error estimates for the unknown function and the adjoint vector-valued function for mixed finite element methods of Laplacian operator. One contribution of the paper is a demonstration of how the boundedness of $L^1$-norm estimate for the second Green's function ${\lambda}_2$ and the optimal maximum norm error estimate for the adjoint vector-valued function are proved. These results are seemed to be to be new in the literature of the mixed finite element methods.

  • It is shown that for a general Haar shift operator, and a weight in the $A_2$ weight class, we establish the weighted norm estimate which linearly depends on $A_2$-characteristic $[w]_{A_2}$. Although the result is now well known, we introduce the new method, which is called the iterated Bellman function method, to provide the estimate.

  • In [1], Beznosova proved that the bound on the norm of the dyadic paraproduct with b ∈ BMO in the weighted Lebesgue space L2(w) depends linearly on the Ad2 characteristic of the weight w and extrapolated the result to the Lp(w) case. In this paper, we provide the weighted norm estimates of the dyadic paraproduct πb with b ∈ VMO and reduce the dependence of the Ad2 characteristic to 1/2 by using the property that for b ∈ VMO its mean oscillations are vanishing in certain cases. Using this result we also reduce the quadratic bound for the commutators of the Calderón-Zygmund operator [b, T] to 3/2.

  • Let $\vec{p}{\in}(0,\;1]^n$ be an n-dimensional vector and A a dilation. Let $H^{\vec{p}}_A(\mathbb{R}^n)$ denote the anisotropic mixed-norm Hardy space defined via the radial maximal function. Using the known atomic characterization of $H^{\vec{p}}_A(\mathbb{R}^n)$ and establishing a uniform estimate for corresponding atoms, the authors prove that the Fourier transform of $f{\in}H^{\vec{p}}_A(\mathbb{R}^n)$ coincides with a continuous function F on ℝn in the sense of tempered distributions. Moreover, the function F can be controlled pointwisely by the product of the Hardy space norm of f and a step function with respect to the transpose matrix of A. As applications, the authors obtain a higher order of convergence for the function F at the origin, and an analogue of Hardy-Littlewood inequalities in the present setting of $H^{\vec{p}}_A(\mathbb{R}^n)$.

  • We obtain a new criterion for the boundedness and compactness of the weighted composition operators ${\psi}C_{\varphi}$ from ${\ss}^{{\alpha}}$(0 < ${\alpha}$ < 1) to ${\ss}^{{\beta}}$ in terms of the sequence $\{{\psi}{\varphi}^n\}$. An estimate for the essential norm of ${\psi}C_{\varphi}$ is also given.

  • This study analyzed consumer attitude, habit strength, subjective norm, a pros evaluation, and intention to consume to estimate perceptible variables that affect apple consumption. Data were collected from 207 men and women through a selfadministrated questionnaire. A partial least squares regression was conducted as one of structural equation models to estimate and test hypotheses. The results showed that attitude, habit strength, and the pros evaluation affected the intention to consume apples, and that the intention increased apple consumption. The results also showed that some marketing strategies are needed to promote apple consumption and to make consumers change their intention, to develop habits for eating apples by changing their diets, and to impress upon them that apples are good for health. This can be interpreted as meaning that it is most important to understand consumer behavior, particularly consumer psychology, which is reflected in the recent trend of marketing that concentrates on meeting the consumer's needs rather than the producer's.

  • When applying a SQUID system for diagnosing heart disease, it is informative to obtain the source current distributions from the measured MCG (magnetocardiogram) signals since the bioelectric activity in the heart is generally represented by distributed current sources. In order to estimate the Primary current distribution in a heart, the minimum norm estimate was computed, assuming a source plane below the chest surface. In the simulation, current distributions, which were computed for the test dipoles represented well the essential feature of the test-current configurations. Source current reconstruction was performed for MCG signal of a healthy volunteer, which was recorded using a 40-channel SQUID system in a magnetically shielded room. It was found that the obtained current distribution is consistent with the electrical activity in a heart.
