  • LQG/LTR method suggested to improve robustness of LQG have a theoritical constraint that it cannot apply to nonminimum phase plant(NMP). In this paper, we suggest a new LQG/LTR method for NMP which consist of three design steps. The first step is design a additional feed-foward compensator which approximate the given NMP plant to minimum phase(MP) plant and the next step is design a target loop transfer function for approximated MP plant satisfying the design specifications such as robust-performance and robust-stability. The last step is loop transfor recovery(LTR) that the open loop transfer function recovers the terget loop. It was shown by simulation example that the suggested method can solve the NMP constraint in designing LQG/LTR.

  • The steam generator level is susceptible to the nonminimum phase in dynamics due to the thermal reverse effects known as "shrink and swell" in a pressurized water reactor. A state feedback assisted control concept is presented for the change of dynamic performance to the minimum phase the concept incorporates a nonlinear digital observer as a part of the control system. The observer is deviced to estimate the state variables that provide the true indication of water inventory by compensating for shrink and swell effects. The concept is validated with implementation into the steam generator simulation model.

  • This paper presents the method for the automatic tuning of a design weighting polynomial parameters of a generalized minimum-variance stochastic ultivariable self-tuning controller which adapts to changes in the higher order nonminimum phase system parameters with time delays and noises. The self-tuning effect is achieved through the recursive least square algorithm at the parameter estimation stage and also through the Robbins-Monro algorithm at the stage of optimizing the design weighting polynomial parameters of the controller. The proposed multivariable self-tuning method is simple and effective compared with pole restriction method. The computer simulation results are presented to adapt the higher order multivariable system with nonminimum phase and with changeable system parameters.

  • This paper concerned about a study on the direct pole placement PID self-tuning controller design for DC servo motor control system. The method of a direct pole placement self-tuning PID control for a DC servo motor of Robot manipulator tracks a reference velocity in spite of the parameters uncertainties in nonminimum phase system. In this scheme, the parameters of classical controller are estimated by the recursive least square (RLS)identification algorithm, the pole placement method and diophantine equation. A series of simulation in which minimum phase system and nonminimum phase system are subjected to a pattern of system parameter changes is presented to show some of the features of the proposed control algorithm. The proposed control algorithm which shown are effective for the practical application, and experiments of DC servo motor speed control for Robot manipulator by a microcomputer IBM-PC/AT are performed and the results are well suited.

  • In this paper, we investigate the time-sampling effects on the digital implementation of singular perturbation based STT autopilot with excellent performance and propose a compensation method for the time-sampling effects. In digitization of analog STT autopilot, it is found that the stability margin of the fast dynamics is mostly affected to lead to rapid decrease. Under the this analysis, a composite digital controller with additional compensator for fast dynamics is proposed to improve the time-sampling effect and a simulation verifies the result.

  • This note presents a novel algorithm for a continuous-time direct adaptive pole placement control for single-input single-out nonminimum phase systems. Although the resulting overall closed-loop system is locally stable, assumptions about parameter convergence or the nature of the external input are not considered.

  • In this paper, a robust reduced order adaptive controller is proposed based on Internal Model Control(IMC) structure for stochastic linear stable systems. The concept of gain margin is utilized to make the adaptive IMC controller robust. We prove the stability of the proposed adaptive IMC system for stable plants under the assumption that upper bounds for system orders are known. Simulation results show that the proposed method has good performance and stability robustness.

  • In the process control applications of self tuning control, a major concern of the control problem is to handle an offset caused by load disturbances and random steps occuring at random instance of time. Conventionally an integrator is incorperated in the forward path of the controller to eliminate such an offset. But this approach causes a difficulty if the adaptive part of the resultant controller is to be evaluated. In this paper a method of analyzing the adaptive system and improving the offset effect is suggested for a class of referance model method in the self tuning adaptive control system.
