  • This paper considers the noninformative priors for the linear function of parameters in the lognormal distribution. The lognormal distribution is applied in the various areas, such as occupational health research, environmental science, monetary units, etc. The linear function of parameters in the lognormal distribution includes the expectation, median and mode of the lognormal distribution. Thus we derive the probability matching priors and the reference priors for the linear function of parameters. Then we reveal that the derived reference priors do not satisfy a first order matching criterion. Under the general priors including the derived noninformative priors, we check the proper condition of the posterior distribution. Some numerical study under the developed priors is performed and real examples are illustrated.

  • In this paper, we develop the Jeffreys' prior, reference priors and the probability matching priors for the intraclass correlation coefficient of a symmetric normal distribution. We next verify propriety of posterior distributions under those noninformative priors. We examine whether reference priors satisfy the probability matching criterion.

  • This paper addresses the problem of testing whether the means in several inverse Gaussian populations with heterogeneity are equal. The analysis of reciprocals for the equality of inverse Gaussian means needs the assumption of equal scale parameters. We propose Bayesian model selection procedures for testing equality of the inverse Gaussian means under the noninformative prior without the assumption of equal scale parameters. The noninformative prior is usually improper which yields a calibration problem that makes the Bayes factor to be defined up to a multiplicative constant. So we propose the objective Bayesian model selection procedures based on the fractional Bayes factor and the intrinsic Bayes factor under the reference prior. Simulation study and real data analysis are provided.

  • This article deals with the one-sided hypothesis testing problem in inverse Gaussian distribution. We propose Bayesian hypothesis testing procedures for the one-sided hypotheses of the shape parameter under the noninformative prior. The noninformative prior is usually improper which yields a calibration problem that makes the Bayes factor to be defined up to a multiplicative constant. So we propose the objective Bayesian hypothesis testing procedures based on the fractional Bayes factor, the median intrinsic Bayes factor and the encompassing intrinsic Bayes factor under the reference prior. Simulation study and a real data example are provided.

  • In this paper, we develop the noninformative priors for the common intraclass correlation coefficient when independent samples drawn from multivariate normal populations. We derive the first and second order matching priors. We reveal that the second order matching prior dose not match alternative coverage probabilities up to the second order and is not a HPD matching prior. It turns out that among all of the reference priors, one-at-a-time reference prior satisfies a second order matching criterion. Our simulation study indicates that one-at-a-time reference prior performs better than the other reference priors in terms of matching the target coverage probabilities in a frequentist sense.

  • The multiply Type-II hybrid censoring scheme is disadvantaged by an experiment time that is too long. To overcome this limitation, we propose a generalized multiply Type-II hybrid censoring scheme. Some estimators of the scale parameter of the exponential distribution are derived under a generalized multiply Type-II hybrid censoring scheme. First, the maximum likelihood estimator of the scale parameter of the exponential distribution is obtained under the proposed censoring scheme. Second, we obtain the Bayes estimators under different loss functions with a noninformative prior and an informative prior. We approximate the Bayes estimators by Lindleys approximation and the Tierney-Kadane method since the posterior distributions obtained by the two priors are complicated. In addition, the Bayes estimators are obtained by using the Markov Chain Monte Carlo samples. Finally, all proposed estimators are compared in the sense of the mean squared error through the Monte Carlo simulation and applied to real data.

  • The Bayes factors with improper noninformative priors are defined only up to arbitrary constants. So, it is known that Bayes factors are not well defined due to this arbitrariness in Bayesian hypothesis testing and model selections. The intrinsic Bayes factor by Berger and Pericchi (1996) and the fractional Bayes factor by O'Hagan (1995) have been used to overcome this problems. This paper suggests intrinsic priors for testing the equality of two lognormal means, whose Bayes factors are asymptotically equivalent to the corresponding fractional Bayes factors. Using proposed intrinsic priors, we demonstrate our results with a simulated dataset.

  • In this paper, matching priors for P(X < Y) are investigated when both distributions are exponential distributions. Two recent approaches for finding noninformative priors are introduced. The first one is the verger and Bernardo's forward and backward reference priors that maximizes the expected Kullback-Liebler Divergence between posterior and prior density. The second one is the matching prior identified by matching the one sided posterior credible interval with the frequentist's desired confidence level. The general forms of the second- order matching prior are presented so that the one sided posterior credible intervals agree with the frequentist's desired confidence levels up to O(n$^{-1}$ ). The frequentist coverage probabilities of confidence sets based on several noninformative priors are compared for small sample sizes via the Monte-Carlo simulation.
