원자로 노심용융물의 성분비 변화가 증기폭발에 미치는 영향 (An Influence of Corium Composition Variations on a Spontaneous Steam Explosion in Severe Accidents in a Nuclear Reactor)

  • Recently series of steam explosion experiments have been performed in the TROI facility to identify the influence of corium compositions on the occurrence of a spontaneous steam explosion varying corium melt composition. The compositions of the corium were 0 : 100, 50 : 50, 70 : 30, 80 : 20 and 87 : 13 at weight percent of $UO_2$ to $ZrO_2$, and the mass of the corium was about 10kg. Corium melt at 0 : 100 weight percent (pure zirconia) caused a strong spontaneous steam explosion, and melt at 70 : 30 weight percent(eutectic corium) led to a weak steam spike, while melts at other compositions did not result in spontaneous steam explosions, when they came into contact with 67cm deep water pool at room temperature. It seems that the explosivity of pure zirconia is stronger than that of corium at other compositions and a steam explosion is not likely to occur with corium melts at non-eutectic compositions which are included in mushy zone region.

  • A control for Steam Generator (S/C) level is very difficult by automatic control mode but also manual control node during plant start up and/or low power level operation with the analog control system because of a non-nominal process responce. The goal of this study is to improve and computerize and applicate for KO-RI #1 Steam Generator level control system.

  • 2009 개정 교육과정 초등수학 1학년 교과서를 대상으로 수학적 지식 외에 어떤 STEAM 관련교과의 내용을 포함하고 있는지 단원별, 수학내용 영역별로 분석하였다. 단원별 STEAM 관련교과 내용의 개수는 전체적으로 인문과학(스토리텔링)적 내용이 제일 많았고, 스토리텔링이 아닌 인문과학적 내용, 체육교과와 관련된 내용 순으로 많이 분석되었으나 음악교과와 관련된 내용은 매우 적었다. 또한 영역별 STEAM 관련교과 내용의 개수는 규칙성 영역을 제외한 다른 영역에서는 인문과학(스토리텔링)적 내용과 체육교과와 관련된 내용 순으로 많았다. 그러나 단원별, 영역별로 STEAM 관련교과 내용의 개수는 편차가 매우 심하여 다양한 STEAM 자료 개발이 요구된다.

  • Nuclear power plants are urged to reduce operating and maintaining costs to remain competitive as well as to increase the safety preventing the radioactive material to the atmosphere. To reduce the cost and to increase the safety, the inspection of balance-of-plant heat exchanger becomes important. However, there are some problems for plugging the heat exchanger tubes since the criterion and its basis are not clearly described. The codes and standards related to show the tube plugging criteria may not exist currently. In this paper, a method to establish the tube plugging criteria of BOP heat exchangers is introduced and the tube plugging criteria for the non-regenerative heat exchanger in the steam generator blow-down system of nuclear power plant. This method relies on the similar method used to establish the plugging criteria for the steam generator tubes.

  • In this study, using the governing equation for thermohydrodyamic lubrication involving the homogeneous mixture of incompressible fluid derived by based on the principle of continuum mechanics, it is discussed the effects of water within turbine oil on the performance of high speed journal bearing of a steam turbine shipping engine. The governing equation is the general equation being able to be applied on the mixture of Newtonian fluid and non-Newtonian fluid. Here, the fluid viscosity index, n of power-law non-Newtonian fluid is supposed to be 1 for the application of the journal bearing in a steam turbine shipping engine lubricated with the mixture of two Newtonian fluid, for example, water within turbine oil. The results related with the bearing performance are showed.

  • KEPRI has developed an Nuclear Steam Supply System(NSSS) thermal-hydraulics simulation program (called ARTS-KORI), based on the best-estimate system code, RETRAN, as a part of the development project for the KORI unit 1 Nuclear Power Plant Simulator. A number of code modifications, such as simplifications and removing of discontinuities of the physical correlations, were made in order to change the RETRAN code as an nuclear Steam Supply System thermal-hydraulics engine in the simulator. Some simplified models and a backup system were also developed. This paper briefly presents the results of non-integrated standalone test of ARTS-KORI.

Development of Performance Demonstration Programs for Eddy Current Data Analysis

  • The Korea Electric Power Research Institute (KEPRI) has developed performance demonstration programs for non-destructive testing personnel who analyze ECT(eddy current testing) data for steam generator tubing since 2001 The purpose of these performance demonstration programs is to ensure a uniform knowledge and skill level of data analysts and contribute to safe operation of nuclear power plants. Many changes have occurred in non-destructive testing of steam generator tubing such as inspection scope, plugging criteria and qualification requirements. According to the Notice 2004-13 revised by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), the analyst for steam generator tubing shall be qualified as the qualified data analyst (QDA), and the site specific performance demonstration (SSPD) program shall be implemented. KEPRI developed these performance demonstration programs and they are being successfully implemented. The analyst's performance is expected to be improved by the implementation of these programs.

Development of Magnetic Phase Detection Sensor for the Steam Generator Tube in Nuclear Power Plants

  • A new eddy current testing probe was developed to separate the eddy current signal distortion caused by permeability variation clusters and ordinary defects created in steam generator tubes. Signal processing circuits were inserted into the probe to increase the signal-to-noise ratio and allow digital signal transmission. The new probe could measure and separate the magnetic phases created in the steam generator tubes in the operating environment of a nuclear power plant. Furthermore, the new eddy current testing probe can measure the defects in steam generator tubes as rapidly as a bobbin probe with enhanced testing speed and reliability of defect detection.

  • 우드세라믹은 목재나 목질재료에 페놀수지를 함침한 후 고온에서 소성하여 만든 새로운 다공질 탄소재료이다. 이러한 우드세라믹의 성질은 재료의 밀도에 영향을 많이 받는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 증기분사를 하지 않은 보드와 증기분사를 1분, 5분, 10분 실시한 보드 등 4가지 타입의 보드를 만든 다음 우드세라믹을 제조하여 증기분사 시간에 따른 우드세라믹의 성질을 검토하였다. 그 결과 우드세라믹의 중량감소율은 4가지 타입 모두 밀도가 증가함에 따라 증가하는 경향을 보였으며, 중량, 길이 및 두께 감소율은 증기분사를 하지 않은 보드로 제조된 우드세라믹이 증기분사를 실시한 보드로 제조된 우드세라믹보다 약간 크게 나타났다. 또한 증기분사를 하지 않은 보드로 제조된 우드세라믹의 휨강도 및 압축강도가 컸으나 증기분사 시간에 따라서는 뚜렷한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다.

  • The composite electric oven is one of the fixing utensil, various functions are required. Steam generating function, which is one of its functions, and allows various food cooking. The location of the outlet of the steam generator is designed around ease of installation, consideration of internal fluid is not. Distribution of the steam can not be non-uniformly. Accordingly, cooking time becomes longer, the energy consumption increases. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed stagnation phenomenon of the internal flow through the interpretation of the calculations for the position of the outlet of the steam generator existing. Further, by computing the analysis of various locations of the outlet of the steam generator, we investigated the distribution and characteristics of the internal flow.
