  • J noise component due to base spreading resistance ${\gamma}_{bb}$ of bipolar junction transistors fabricated by BiCMOS process is experimentally analyzed. The analysis of equivalent noise circuit for common collector shows that output 1/f noise value is purely generated from ${\gamma}_{bb}\;when\;g_m^{-1}-{\gamma}_{bb}-R_B$ is closely to zero. From the $S^{1/f}_{Irbb}=K_fI_b{^{A_1}}/f$, we fine that $A_f=2,\;K_f{\simeq}5{\times}10^{-9}$. And Hooge constant ${\alpha}$ values are in the order, of 10$^{-3}$.

  • Turbo blower generates high peaks when it operates at high pressure region. The fan of the air-cleaner system, operates especially high pressure region due to several filters, generates high noise level. In this case, the tonal sound of BPF makes people annoyance. The blower of air-cleaner has several high resistance filters in its inlet area and rotates above 900rpm Moreover, for the compact design, the size of the blower should be reduced 10%. The reduced diameter of blower makes low flow rate and high noise level. In order to reduce the noise, new blade shape was suggested and optimized

  • Marine technology must advance to meet the needs of a wealthier and more demanding public while at the same time provide greater environmental protection. Pollution noise and vibration is the specific issue being discussed in this paper Noise is of course due to vibration from high speed engines driving generators, entilators, winch and other gear, while underwater noise pollution results from the propellers and the resistance produced by the hull of the ship moving through the water. Vibration is also a factor in potential damage to sensitive electronic gear and metal fatigue. The issue of noise pollution does not cease when a vessel enters her berth and the main engines shut down. There is still the matter of ventilation and other mechanical factors at work to maintain a comfortable, efficient environment. We measured the noise level and vibration displacement in the training ship A-Ra at underway and Berth. The authors analyzed the frequency of noise and maximum vibration displacement in the position.

  • The input equivalent noise charge (ENC) of hydrogenated amorphous silicon radiation detector diodes was measured and analyzed. The noise sources of amorphous silicon diodes were analyzed into three sources; shot noise, flicker noise and thermal noise from the contact resistance. By comparing the measured ENC with the calculated signal charge in uniform generation case, the signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) for the sample diodes is estimated as a function of the detector bias and the shaping time of Gaussian pulse shaper. The maximum S/N occurred at the bias level just above the full depletion voltage for shaping time of 2∼3 ${\mu}$sec. The developed method is useful in optimum design or amorphous silicon p-i-n diodes for charged particulate radiation spectroscopy.

  • The comprehensive and physics-based compact noise models for advanced CMOS devices were presented. The models incorporate important physical effects in nanoscale MOSFETs, such as the low frequency correlation effect between the drain and the gate, the trap-related phenomena, and QM (quantum mechanical) effects in the inversion layer. The drain current noise model was improved by including the tunneling assisted-thermally activated process, the realistic trap distribution, the parasitic resistance, and mobility degradation. The expression of correlation coefficient was analytically described, enabling the overall noise performance to be evaluated. With the consideration of QM effects, the comprehensive low frequency noise performance was simulated over the entire bias range.

  • A novel phase-locked loop(PLL) architecture with resistance and capacitance scaling scheme has been proposed. The proposed PLL has three charge pumps. The effective capacitance and resistance of the loop filter can be scaled up/down according to the locking status by controlling the direction and magnitude of each charge pump current. This architecture makes it possible to have a narrow bandwidth and low resistance in the loop filter, which improves phase noise and reference spur characteristics. It has been fabricated with a 3.3V $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS process. The measured locking time is $25{\mu}s$ with the measured phase noise of -105.37 dBc/Hz @1MHz and the reference spur of -50dBc at 851.2MHz output frequency

  • The present experimental study deals with noise reduction and improvements in cooling performance in a plasma display panel (PDP) television (TV). The main ideas of the fan system noise reduction are maintenance of uniform inflow condition and reduction of the system loss, ${\Delta}P.$ The discrete noise is mainly related with the inflow condition therefore removing the structure which distorts inflow makes the discrete noise reduction. The broadband noise in PDP TV is related with the system losses which result from the presence of the fan downstream obstacle, PDP rear case. Through the modification of the distance and preventing the leakage flow between the fan and rear case, we can obtain the system loss and broadband noise reduction. Additionally we can reduce fan rotating speed because of increased flow rate which obtains from the reduction of system loss (resistance). Finally, 4.2 dB(A) noise reduction and $10\%$ increase in flow rate are achieved. From these results, we show that the reduction of system loss is the most effective way of the fan system noise reduction.

  • In this paper, an accurate noise parameters for thermal noise modeling of short channel MOSFET is derived and extracted. Fukui model for calculating the noise parameters of a MOSFET is modified by considering effects of parasitic elements in short channel, and it is compared with conventional noise model equation. In addition, for obtaining the intrinsic noise sources of devices, noise parameters(minimum noise figure $F_{min}$, equivalent noise resistance $R_n$ optimized source admittance $Y_{opt}=G_{opt}+B_{opt}$) in submicron MOSFETs is extracted. With this extraction method, the intrinsic noise parameters of MOSFET without effects of probe pad and extrinsic parasitic elements from RF noise measurements can be directly obtained.

  • We present a microscopic description for generation of 1/f noise in interfaces between cobalt thin film and silicon substrate. Along with surface resistance measurements and transmission electron diffraction observations. 1/f noise power spectral density has been measured for the interfacial structures at the liquid nitrogen temperature . The cobalt films have been deposited by the electron-beam evaporation technique onto p-type (100) silicon in the high vacuum condition. The measured noise power spectral density shows highest magnitude near the structural transition and metallization transition region. The noise magnitude rapidly decreased after the cobalt silicide nucleation. The noise parameter is concluded to be originated form the structural fluctuations.

  • The importance of emotional quality of car is getting higher in these days. Noise takes great portion in emotional quality because it is detectable problem with just a few rides. The sources of car noise during operation are various and the related technical issues are vast. Sometimes weldments of auto body are referred as the source of noise and the suspicious weldment shows unsatisfactory welding quality in most cases. In this research, cases of noise making weldments are investigated to figure out the solution for welding quality improvement. They are categorized into several groups in according to the inferred types of the error source then appropriate solutions are suggested. Auto body has weldments of resistance spot welding and gas metal arc welding in general. Therefore the solutions are suggested as adjustment of welding process variables and related machineries. Inevitable error source is also referred which is originated from thermal expansion rate difference between ultra high strength steel and mild steel. This new approach is validated through simple calculation then more concrete investigation with numerical analysis is remained as further works to be done.
