  • Numerical analysis of convection-dominated transport problems are challenging because of dual characteristics of the governing equation. In the finite element method, a strategy is to modify the test function to weight more in the upwind direction. This is called as the Petrov-Galerkin method. In this paper, both N+1 and N+2 Petrov-Galerkin methods are applied to transport problems at high grid Peclet number. Frequency fitting algorithm is used to obtain optimal levels of N+2 upwinding, and the results are discussed. Also, a new Petrov-Galerkin method, named as "Optimal Test Function Petrov-Galerkin Method," is proposed in this paper. The test function of this numerical method changes its shape depending upon relative strength of the convection to the diffusion. A numerical experiment is carried out to demonstrate the performance of the proposed method.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a slacks pattern drafting method for the fatty women of 40∼55 aged Korean women who are more than 1.5 Rohrer's index on the basis of their physical characteristics. The study was composed as follows; 1. Body measurement and statistical analysis: One hundred and thirty women between the ages of 40∼55 over 1.5 Rohrer's index were measured on 21 items. Mean, standard deviation, variance, maximum, minimum, range were computed. 2. 4 types of conventional slacks pattern were collected. The most accepted conventional slacks pattern was decided through wearing test. The new pattern was based onthe most accepted conventional pattern, and developed through wearing tests. 3. Evaluation of the new pattern drafting method: The sensory evaluation was applied to evaluate the new pattern by comparing is with the most accepted conventional pattern. According to the statistical analysis of the result of the 12 items, all the items showed significant differences (α 0.01) between the two, with the new pattern having higher scores.

  • The Purpose of this study was to develop pattern drafting methods of the hip block and sleeve for female college students of 18 to 26 year-old. The study procedures and results were as follows ; 1. 313 female college students were measured, 17items were analyzed statisitcally. 2. New hip block and sleeve sloper were developed based on the result of the data analysis and fitting tests. 3. The sensory test was applied to evaluate the new hip block and sleeve sloper for female college student by comparing it with Japanese Bunka method sloper. According to statistical analysis of the result of 40items on the questionnaire, all the items showed significant difference($$a{\leq_-}0.01$$) between the two, with the new pattern having higher scores. The new drafting method proved to be better fitted at all 40items, and to be comfortable.

  • The purpose of this research is to formulate a new proximal-type algorithm to solve the equilibrium problem in a real Hilbert space. A new algorithm is analogous to the famous two-step extragradient algorithm that was used to solve variational inequalities in the Hilbert spaces previously. The proposed iterative scheme uses a new step size rule based on local bifunction details instead of Lipschitz constants or any line search scheme. The strong convergence theorem for the proposed algorithm is well-proven by letting mild assumptions about the bifunction. Applications of these results are presented to solve the fixed point problems and the variational inequality problems. Finally, we discuss two test problems and computational performance is explicating to show the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

  • A study on experimental method of the model test for the impulse turbine is carried out. the wave simulator is used to reproduce the real wave condition. It controls two parameter correspond to wave height and wave frequency. The optimum design which is reported by T. Setoguchi is manufactured and tested for the validation of our test facilities. The comparison of model test show that our facilities produce little bit higher efficiency at maximum efficiency point. To increase the efficiency of turbine, the new rotor with negative tip clearance is designed and being tested.

  • Static testing of analog-to-digital (A/D) and digital-to-analog (D/A) converters becomes more difficult when they are embedded in a system on chip. Built-in self-test (BIST) reduces the need for external support for testing. This paper proposes a new static BIST structure for testing both A/D and D/A converters. By sharing test circuitry, the proposed BIST reduces the hardware overhead. Furthermore, test time can also be reduced using the simultaneous test strategy of the proposed BIST. The proposed method can be applied in various A/D and D/A converter resolutions and analog signal swing ranges. Simulation results are presented to validate the proposed method by showing how linearity errors are detected in different situations.

  • Nebulizer is designed to atomize medicinal fluid for patient with small particles(0.5-$5{\mu}m$) and also able to deliver particles from devices to the lungs when patient inhales air. Several particle size measurements are currently used to size aerosol particles. The most commonly used test is the cascade impactor method in as a standard. But, other methods for comparative particle size distribution data such as the particle size range and reproducibility are acceptable. Therefore, in this study a new test methode is suggested for nonventilatory nebulizer evaluation equipment.

  • Korean Train Express (KTX) has been commercially operating and achieving elevation on transport capacity since 2004. And the first hish-speed prototype test train, HSR-350x, was developed and succeeded in testing of running over 350km/h. Now KTX-II based on HSR-350x was started in service run. The new high-speed train development project, HEMU-400x project, has started since 2007. The protype train is being designed and manufactured. After the train are developed completely, it will run on the commercial line and will be test to verify the estimated performance. The authors devised the performance evaluation method and process of the HEMU-400x prototype system. And we introduce the definite performance test items and the method to vitrificate them in this paper.

  • Literature review on reliability test method for developing high performance optical/thermofluidic components. Since the miniaturization by the conventional mechanical process is limited to milli-structure, i.e. $10^{-3}m$, new technology for fabricating of mechanical components is needed to match cost, reliability, and integrability criteria of micro-structure. Although numbers of various researches on MEMS/MOEMS devices and components, including material characterization, design and optimization, system validation, etc., the lack of standards and specifications make the researches and developments difficult. For that reason, this paper is intended to propose the methods of reliability test for measuring the mechanical property of optical/ thermofluidic components.

  • Internal replaceable electronic module substitutions can impact EMC (ElectroMagnetic Compatibility) qualification testing and results if EMC testing is conducted at the cabinet level. The impact of component substitutions on EMC qualification results therefore should be evaluated. If a qualitative evaluation is not adequate to ensure that the modified product will not impact the cabinet level EMC qualification results, a new qualification testing should be conducted. Component level retesting should be conducted under electromagnetically equivalent conditions with the cabinet level test. This paper analyzes the propagation of conducted susceptibility test waveforms in a representative cabinet and evaluates the impact of component substitutions on cabinet level EMC qualification results according to the location of the replacement items. A guideline for a qualitative evaluation of the impact of component substitutions is described based on the propagation of the conducted susceptibility test waveforms. A module level test method is also described based on an analysis of the shielding effectiveness of the cabinet.
