  • After the IMF jurisdiction period, the Korean economy experienced a venture boom. Korean venture enterprises had been recognized that high profitable and high technology capacity based. These ventures also have contributed to national added value tolerably. In particular, Korean information technology (IT) venture companies got away the order of economy concentrated big companies, which were taken the opportunity of new economy to make suggestion of the future courses and to open an e-Korea era. However, IT ventures firms or dotcom enterprises have had difficulties through sinking down their bubbles and slumping technology sector from the first half of the 2000. In consideration of Korea IT venture companies' conditions, Korean government introduce new national vision in order to go ahead of intelligence based society form knowledge based. Korea is planning new investment to meet with the challenge of globalization proactively by national band named u-Korea. As following a step in IT infrastructure, it will give Korean IT ventures new demand creative technologies and services by new technological windows of opportunity. This situation is expected that will become an economic take-off. This paper will look for the way to stimulate Korean IT ventures' competence and present new frontier of IT ventures turnaround.

신생모험기업의 전략유형에 관한 연구

  • Traditional studies of new venture performance have focused on the characteristics of entrepreneurs and have shown conflicting results on the relationship between the characteristics and performance of new ventures. Recently, some researchers have broadened their search to include aspects of the industry and the strategy of new ventures. The purposes of this study are to identify wtrategic archetypes of new ventures based on the taxonomic approach and to explain the differences in new venture characteristics and performance among strategic archetypes. To find the strategic archetypes, 114 new venture CEOs from various industries were asked to describe their ventures' competitive strategy through 19 questionnaire items on competitive methods. Using factor analysis and subsequent cluster analysis, four archetypes were identified such as : versatile type, technology-driven type, market-oriented type, and cost reduction type. The results imply that there exist different types of venture strategy even among new technology-based venture firms in Korea, and show the differences in performance among strategic archetypes: market-oriented type and versatile type are better than cost reduction type in terms of growth rate and profitability. Because the venture strategy in identified as a major determinant of the venture performance in this study, the choice of venture strategy suitable for firm's industrial characteristics and internal resource bases becomes a very strategic decision for firm's sustained growth. Further studies are needed to strengthen some methodological limitations of the study.

벤처캐피탈 투자를 유치하는 신기술기반 벤처기업의 긍정 신호에 관한 연구 : 인적 자본과 전략적 보증효과에 관한 탐구 (A Study on the Positive Signals of New Technology-Based Ventures to Entice Venture Capitals in Korea : Exploring Human Capitals and Strategic Endorsements?)

  • 본 연구는 신기술기반 벤처기업이 국내 벤처캐피탈의 투자를 유치하기 위한 인적 자본과 전략적 제휴의 보증효과 관계를 규명하였다. 벤처기업의 인적 자본과 외부 전략적 제휴가 벤처캐피탈에게 투자에 관한 긍정적인 신호 효과를 유발하는가와 함께 벤처캐피탈의 투자가 벤처기업의 성장에 미치는 영향을 살펴 보았다. 연구를 위하여 신호이론을 기반으로 두 가지 접근방법을 적용하였다 먼저, 신기술기반 벤처기업의 내재가치와 국내 벤처캐피탈에게 보증효과를 주는 조직 신호가 무엇인지 탐구하였다. 그리고 성장하고 있는 신기술기반 벤처기업에 벤처캐피탈의 투자가 중추적인 역할을 하는 지 분석하였다. 이러한 가정을 아시아 개발도상국의 대표적인 사례에 해당하는 국내 신기술기반 벤처기업들에 적용하여 검증하였다. 인적 자본 변수에서 기업가의 관련 산업분야 경험, 대기업의 비즈니스그룹과 협업 및 보증효과 변수에서 벤처기업의 인증은 벤처캐피탈의 투자를 유인하는 결과를 나타냈다. 반면에 창업자의 교육 수준은 벤처캐피탈의 투자유치 효과와 기업의 성장에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는다는 결론을 도출하였다.

  • 벤처 비즈니스(venture business)는 '위험(기업)사업'이란 뜻으로 어느 정도 용어의 뜻이 통하는 외래어이지만 비록 익숙한 말이라도 벤처기업(venture enterprise)이란 말은 직역하면'위험(기업)기업'이란 다소 어색한 뜻이 된다. 미국의 경우 Venture Business라는 용어를 사용하지 않고, 신생벤처(New Venture) 또는 기술집약적 신생기업(NTBF: New Technology-based Firm)이라는 용어를 사용하고 있으며, "고위험, 고수익" 사업에 벤처 프로젝트(Venture Project)라는 용어를 쓰고있다.(중략)

  • Inspire of increasing importance of entrepreneurs for successful new venture creation, structured educational programs for entrepreneur development are very limited in Korea. Based on the survey of existing academic programs and interviews with entrepreneurs, this study presents a new education system for entrepreneurial management and new venture creation. Specifically, seven venture educational programs are suggested. As degree programs, ⅰ) new venture interdisciplinary program and ⅱ) venture MBA program are presented. Also, ⅲ) advanced venture management program, ⅳ) venture capitalist training program, and ⅴ) potential entrepreneur training program are suggested as non-degree programs. In addition, special and supporting programs such as ⅵ) technological entrepreneurship seminar and vii) new venture forum are explained. Finally, some examples of typical entrepreneurial management courses are presented and policy implications are suggested.

코로나19 이후 ICT 중소벤처기업 정책 딜레마분석 (A Policy Dilemma Analysis on ICT SMEs after COVID19)

  • This study analyzed the policy dilemma for ICT SMEs venture companies that changed after COVID-19 based on the results of the cognitive map analysis for ICT SMEs venture policies. First, as a result of analyzing the cognitive map of ICT SMEs venture companies that have changed since COVID-19, ICT venture companies are expanding support for ICT venture companies due to the threat of COVID-19. However, in order to convert COVID-19 into an opportunity factor, it also shows a policy direction to achieve innovative growth by creating a new market through non-face-to-face industry revitalization based on digital transformation (digital new deal). As a result of the study, the policy measures of supporting DNA-centered convergence innovation technology, digital transformation (digital new deal), fostering ICT startups (K-Global project), and expanding support for ICT SMEs did not have a policy dilemma. However, although many support has been expanded for ICT SMEs due to COVID-19, it is difficult to find and foster ICT start-up companies, and globalization problems are occurring due to the decrease in exports to COVID-19, making it difficult to create new markets. There is a negative (-) perception of causality that ICT SMEs venture companies may face risks as jobs decrease and innovative growth cannot be led to the revitalization of the non-face-to-face industry. Therefore, it was found that both the flow of causal relationship between the expansion of support for ICT SMEs and the high growth of ICT SMEs is not + and has a policy dilemma in part.

  • 기업의 신기술 개발 역량은 기술 융합 및 발전과 함께 빠르게 변화하고 있는 사업 환경의 치열한 경쟁 속에서 성공적인 제품혁신과 프로세스 혁신을 창출하는 데에 필수적이다. 본 연구는 개방형 혁신의 관점에서 외부 정보 네트워크의 다양성이 중소 벤처기업의 신기술 개발 역량에 미치는 직접 효과와 이러한 직접 효과에 미치는 제품 기획 역량의 매개효과에 대한 연구 모형을 개발한다. 683개의 중소 벤처기업 데이터를 사용하여 최소 자승 회귀 분석을 실시한 통계적 연구모형 검증 결과를 통해, 본 연구는 다음과 같은 2가지의 주요 연구 결과를 제공 한다. 첫째, 중소 벤처기업의 외부 정보 네트워크의 다양성은 신기술 개발 역량에 정(+)의 영향을 미친다. 둘째, 중소 벤처기업의 제품 기획 역량은 외부 정보 네트워크의 다양성이 신기술 개발 역량에 미치는 정(+)의 영향을 완전 매개한다.

BSC관점에서 AHP기법을 이용한 신기술 평가 및 선정에 관한 연구 - 광산업 신기술보육사업을 중심으로 - (Evaluation and Selection Framework for a Venture Firm with New Technology in Optical Electronics Industry)

  • This study proposes a framework for an evaluation and selection of a venture firm with promising new technology in optical electronics industry to nurture that firm. The framework is intended to help practitioners to evaluate accurately and objectively new technologies. In addition, this study tests the usability and effectiveness of this framework with an actual certain case. More specifically, this study, first proposes that the framework for new technology evaluation is composed of financial perspective, market perspective, internal business perspective, and R&D and growing perspective. They are on the four perspectives of BSC(Balanced Score Card). Each perspective contains specific items. In addition, this study uses AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) to assess the comparative importance among the four perspectives and their specific items. Secondly, based on the results of AHP, the usability and effectiveness of the framework suggested in this study have been tested with a real case evaluating and selecting a promising venture firm. The results of the study have the following implications: this study has developed the framework for new technology evaluation which assists practitioners. Our framework offers the four perspectives and their specific items with their respective comparative importance. Furthermore, this study has verified that the proposed framework can be applicable in real situation with more accurate results.

대전 .충청지역 특허기술기반 벤처산업의 육성방안 (Policy on Promoting Venture Business based on Patent and Technology in Metro Taejon and Chungcheong Area)

  • If we want to overcome the current IMF-guarded economic situations as early as possible and to change the present industry structure to the new knowledge-based structure, it is a great necessity to increase the capability of technology innovation as a key factor of the international competitiveness, and to establish the infrastructure of venture business for increasing utilization of technologly and patent. Even though there has been a great increase in application and enrollment of the Industrial Property Rights (i.e. IPRs) including patent recently, the number of unused IPRs are increasing progressively every year (for example, the ratio of unused patent is about 60% in 1997), and illegal use of patent and dependance on the foreign patent are increasing sharply. This paper will suggest policy on nurturing venture business for increasing utilization of the unused IPRs, including technology transaction strategy and link strategy of the high-tech industries between metro Taejon and Chungcheong Area.

중소벤처기업의 기술혁신역량, 협업, 신제품개발성과 간의 구조적 관계 분석 (An Analysis of Structural Relationship between Technological Innovation Capability, Collaboration and New Product Development Performance in Small & Mid-sized Venture Companies)

  • 본 연구에서는 중소벤처기업의 기술혁신역량과 신제품개발성과가 상호 인과관계가 있음을 밝히고, 기술혁신역량을 강화하기 위한 수단으로 협업을 도입하면 신제품개발성과가 향상됨을 규명하였다. 연구방법으로는 국내 소재 중소벤처기업 R&D업무에 종사하는 실무담당자들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과, 중소 벤처기업의 기술혁신역량에 속하는 기술전략, 기술학습, 그리고 개방형 혁신이 신제품개발성과에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 즉 신제품개발성과에 미치는 다수의 핵심전략으로서 협업을 선택한 결과, 협업이 신제품개발성과에 영향을 주는 전략임을 규명하였다. 아울러 협업을 도입하면 기술혁신역량이 신제품개발성과를 강화하는데 조절역할을 하는 지도 함께 살펴보았는데, 일반적인 협업은 기술전략 강화에는 직접적인 영향을 미치지 않지만, 협업에 따라서는 기술전략과 개방형 혁신이 강화되어 신제품개발성과의 크기에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 평가되었다.
