An Exploratory Study on Smart-Phone and Service Convergence (스마트폰과 서비스 컨버전스에 대한 탐색적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the smart-phone and the existing service convergence to find out the future direction in convergence pattern in e-business. To analyze the data and to derive the result, the association rules are applied. As a result, the findings are as followings. Firstly, it is observed that the usage patterns of smart-phone and the existing service convergence are very similar. This means that the convergence of smart-phone can be predicted through the usage pattern of the existing users. Secondly, through the analysis on the convergence patterns of smart-phone usages and the existing services, the smart-phone's link to home networking and office equipments can significantly conform to the user's requirements. It is meaningful that this research has newly approached to the future direction of e-business and the future convergence paradigm by analyzing the relationship between the usage patterns of smart-phone users and the existing service convergence.

A Study of Effectiveness of the Integrated Group Program for Battered Women's Depression (아내구타 피해여성의 우울증 개선을 위한 통합적 집단프로그램의 효과)

  • In this study, the effectiveness of integrated group program for battered women in the shelters carried out and the program's effectiveness concentrating on the depression is evaluated. The integrated group program was developed based on the National Family Violence Survey and other studies about battered women's characteristics. The major outcomes of the study are following. First, depression score of the test group(N=10) in comparison with the comparison group(N=18) decrease with statistical significance. Second, among the sub-symptoms of depression, the symptoms of affective, cognitive, and behavioral depression significantly decrease. These findings show that an integrated program is needed to improve battered women's mental health; it includes not only a mental health intervention but many other services such as family violence education, communication training, social support networking, economic independence improvement and child rearing.

The Application of Case Management to the Self-support Program (자활사업에서의 사례관리 적용에 관한 탐색적 연구)

  • This article focuses on the use of case management in the Self-support program. Case management is a service modality which provides integrated services for people with multiple needs in the community. The goal to accomplish self-sufficiency of working participants in Self-Support Programs is positively affected by the efforts to reduce high social risks they are exposed. It is recommended that the agencies running Self-support programs apply case management to increase the quality of lives as well as the effectiveness of exiting statuses of conditional welfare recipients. Several service considerations of case management are recommended for the change in the structure and functioning of the Self-Support Program: Integrated view and contextualized thinking, empowerment-oriented approach, and a development of the community support system through networking. Types of case management and practice roles of the case manager applicable to the Self-Support Program are also recommended. Structural aspects of an organization, inter-organizational linkages and contextual factors need to be considered to improve problematic conditions that have not enough resources and appropriate authorities in providing case management functions.

  • Social Network Service has been extremely popular these days and providing diverse features and functions to users. Social networking and interest sharing in between users are key factors of SNS and this circles back to draw more users to the service. Web is the first media to provide SNS and mobile is the next. The service based on mobile environmental uniqueness such as Location-based-service(LBS) is the key success factors to convert users to web SNS to mobile SNS. TV has also been a possible SSN market to draw users to share interests and participation. However TV has been always community electronics in family members and personalization to provide SNS has been barrier to overcome. In this study, we explorer ideas of key factors of personalization in TV environment and conducted a field study to define characteristics of TV personalization in terms of depth, method, style and structure. Research finds out that there are significant differences in these categories.

  • Social networking services (in short, SNS) allow users to share their own data with family, friends, and communities. Since there are many kinds of information that has been uploaded and shared through the SNS, the amount of information on the SNS keeps increasing exponentially. Particularly, Facebook has adopted some interesting features related to entertainment (e.g., movie, music and TV show). However, they do not consider contextual information of users for recommendation (e.g., time, location, and social contexts). Therefore, in this paper, we propose a novel approach for movie recommendation based on the integration of a variety contextual information (i.e., when the users watched the movies, where the users watched the movies, and who watched the movie with them). Thus, we developed a Facebook application (called MyMovieHistory) for recording the movie history of users and recommending relevant movies.

  • Nowadays the development of mobile systems occupies significant part of our life, and users using mobile phones are demanding the utilization of differentiated spatial information. A study on application which provides information according to individual location information such as mobile advertisement is conducted for the location-based mobile service. In order to allow mobile phone users to share information based on local information, this paper proposes a mobile sharing system which combines social networks and location-based service to provide efficient information based on location information in mobile phones. The application can be provided with information associated with its location when the mobile phone user arrives at a specific location. Another proposed method focuses on providing more appropriate services for individual situations compared to other applications, and can contribute to expanding social networking functions to facilitate information sharing among users.

Construction of Hierarchical Classification of User Tags using WordNet-based Formal Concept Analysis (WordNet기반의 형식개념분석기법을 이용한 사용자태그 분류체계의 구축)

  • In this paper, we propose a novel approach to construction of classification hierarchies for user tags of folksonomies, using WordNet-based Formal Concept Analysis tool, called TagLighter, which is developed on this research. Finally, to give evidence of the usefulness of this approach in practice, we describe some experiments on user tag data of Bibsonomy.org site. The classification hierarchies of user tags constructed by our approach allow us to gain a better and further understanding and insight in tagged data during information retrieval and data analysis on the folksonomy-based systems. We expect that the proposed approach can be used in the fields of web data mining for folksonomy-based web services, social networking systems and semantic web applications.

A Comparison Study on Data Caching Policies of CCN (콘텐츠 중심 네트워킹의 데이터 캐시 정책 비교 연구)

  • For enhancing network efficiency, various applications/services like CDN and P2P try to utilize content which have previously been cached somewhere. Content-centric networking (CCN) also utilizes data caching functionality. However, dislike CDN/P2P, CCN implements such a function on network nodes. Then, any intermediated nodes can directly respond to request messages for cached data. Hence, it is essential which content is cached as well as which nodes cache transmitted content. Basically, CCN propose for every nodes on the path from the content publisher of transmitted object to a requester to cache the object. However, such an approach is inefficient considering the utilization of cached objects as well as the storage overhead of each node. Hence, various caching mechanisms are proposed to enhance the storage efficiency of a node. In this paper, we analyze the performance of such mechanisms and compare the characteristics of such mechanisms. Also, we analyze content utilization patterns and apply such pattern to caching mechanisms to analyze the practicalism of the caching mechanisms.

Key Factors Influencing Online Relational Intimacy in the Context of Social Networking Services (SNS 환경에서 온라인 관계 친밀도에 영향을 미치는 선행 요인들)

  • This study investigated the key factors affecting online relational intimacy in the context of SNS. Based on the use and gratification theory, self-presentation, relationship formation and information searching were identified as the main needs of SNS usage. These needs were expected to influence online relational intimacy through user satisfaction, subjective well-being, and disclosing information behaviors. The theoretical framework was validated by a longitudinal method. Hypotheses were tested by using the partial least squares to data from 199 Facebook users. Self-presentation and information searching had a significant impact on both user satisfaction and subjective well-being. However, relationship formation did not significantly affect both user satisfaction and subjective well-being. User satisfaction had a significant direct effect only on online relational intimacy. Subjective well-beings played a significant role in enhancing both disclosing information behaviors and online relational intimacy. Finally, it has been found that disclosing information behaviors are a key factor in enhancing online relational intimacy. The results of this study are expected to provide academic and practical implications for the key antecedents of online relational intimacy.

New Media-Informatization Policy and Problems of Developmentalism in Korea (뉴미디어-정보화 정책과 개발주의 패러다임의 문제)

  • Based on the development of IT(information technology), the explosive diffusion and growth of the new media and services in Korea has attracted keen international attention. The construction of IT infrastructure driven by the proactive social informatization policy of the government has also been spectacular. Korea has persistently pursued strong 'new media-informatization policy' with three main objectives in mind: 1)Industrial-economic value creation; 2)socio-cultural value creation; and 3)building of the knowledge society-knowledge state. But its consequence is rather paradoxical. While its performance is excellent in terms of quantity growth of industry and technology, quality development of society, culture and knowledge creation is lagging far behind. This paradoxical outcome originates, not from any simple policy error, but from a structural problem inherent in new media-informatization policy in Korea which has long been captured by developmentalism. In order for Korea to harvest the reward of strong new media-informatization infrastructure, it needs to institute a policy structure based on a knowledge IT strategy such as research and development of core and patent technologies, design and production of quality contents, networking knowledge bases of society, etc.
