To provide effective communication in the wireless mesh network (WMN), several algorithms have been proposed. Since the possibilities of numerous failures always exist during communication, resiliency has been proven to be an important aspect for WMN to recover from these failures. In general, resiliency is the diligence of the reliability and availability in network. Several types of resiliency based routing algorithms have been proposed (i.e., Resilient Multicast, ROMER, etc.). Resilient Multicast establishes a two-node disjoint path and ROMER uses a credit-based approach to provide resiliency in the network. However, these proposed approaches have some disadvantages in terms of network throughput and network congestion. Previously, the buffer based routing (BBR) approach has been proposed to overcome these disadvantages. We proved earlier that BBR is more efficient in regards to w.r.t throughput, network performance, and reliability. In this paper, we consider the node/link failure issues and analogous performance of BBR. For these items we have proposed a resilient packet transmission (RPT) algorithm as a remedy for BBR during these types of failures. We also share the comparative performance analysis of previous approaches as compared to our proposed approach. Network throughput, network congestion, and resiliency against node/link failure are particular performance metrics that are examined over different sized WMNs.

Energy consumption has become a main problem of sustainable development in communication networks and how to communicate with high energy efficiency is a significant topic that researchers and network operators commonly concern. In this paper, an energy-efficient multicast algorithm in multi-hop wireless networks is proposed aiming at new generation wireless communications. Traditional multi-hop wireless network design only considers either network efficiency or minimum energy consumption of networks, but rarely the maximum energy efficiency of networks. Different from previous methods, the paper targets maximizing energy efficiency of networks. In order to get optimal energy efficiency to build network multicast, our proposed method tries to maximize network throughput and minimize networks' energy consumption by exploiting network coding and sleeping scheme. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has better energy efficiency and performance improvements compared with existing methods.

Multi-user Multiple-Input and Multiple-Output (MU-MIMO) has potential for prominently enhancing the capacity of wireless network by simultaneously transmitting to multiple users. User selection is an unavoidable problem which bottlenecks the gain of MU-MIMO to a great extent. Major state-of-the-art works are focusing on improving network throughput by using Channel State Information (CSI), however, the overhead of CSI feedback becomes unacceptable when the number of users is large. Some work does well in balancing tradeoff between complexity and achievable throughput but is lack of consideration of fairness. Current works universally ignore the rational utilizing of time resources, which may lead the improvements of network throughput to a standstill. In this paper, we propose TOUSE, a scalable and fair user selection scheme for MU-MIMO. The core design is dynamic-time-warping-based user selection mechanism for downlink MU-MIMO, which could make full use of concurrent transmitting time. TOUSE also presents a novel data-rate estimation method without any CSI feedback, providing supports for user selections. Simulation result shows that TOUSE significantly outperforms traditional contention-based user selection schemes in both throughput and fairness in an indoor condition.
In this paper, a performance evaluation model of the Multistage Interconnection Network(MIN) with the multiple-buffered crossbar switches is Proposed and examined. Buffered switch technique is well known to solve the data collision problem of the MIN. The proposed evaluation model is developed by investigating the transfer patterns of data packets in a switch with output-buffers. The performance of the multiple-buffered${\alpha}{\times}{\alpha}$ crossbar switch is analyzed. Steady state probability concept is used to simplify the analyzing processes, Two important parameters of the network performance, throughput and delay, are then evaluated, To validate the proposed analysis model, the simulation is carried out on a Baseline network that uses the multiple buffered crossbar switches. Less than 2% differences between analysis and simulation results are observed. It is also shown that the network performance is significantly improved when the small number of buffer spaces is given. However, the throughput elevation is getting reduced and network delay becomes increasing as more buffer spaces are added in a switch.
Products of Wi-Fi devices in recent years offer higher throughput and have longer signal coverage which also bring unnecessary signal interference to neighboring wireless networks, and result in decrease of network throughput. Signal interference is an inevitable problem because of the broadcast nature of wireless transmissions. However it could be optimized by reducing signal coverage of wireless devices. On the other hand, smaller signal coverage also means lower transmission power and lower data throughput. Therefore, in this paper, we analyze the relationship among signal strength, coverage and interference of Wi-Fi networks, and as a tradeoff between transmission power and data throughput, we propose a range-aware Wi-Fi network scheme which controls transmission power according to positions and RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indication) of Wi-Fi devices and analyze the efficiency of the proposed scheme by simulation.
In this paper, a performance evaluation model of the Multistage Interconnection Network(MIN) with the multiple-buffered crossbar switches under Hot-spot environment is proposed and examined. Buffered switch technique is well known to solve the data collision problem of the MIN. The proposed evaluation model is developed by investigating the transfer patterns of data packets in a switch. The performance of the multiple-buffered $a{\times}a$ crossbar switch is analyzed. Steady state probability concept is used to simplify the analyzing processes. Two important parameters of the network performance, throughput and delay, are then evaluated. To validate the proposed analysis model, the simulation is carried out on a Baseline network that uses the multiple buffered crossbar switches. Less than 2% differences between analysis and simulation results are observed. It is also shown that the network performance is significantly improved when the small number of buffer spaces is given. However, the throughput elevation is getting reduced and network delay becomes increasing as more buffer spaces are added in a switch.

We show improved throughput scaling laws for an ultra-wide band (UWB) ad hoc network, in which n wireless nodes are randomly located. First, we consider the case where a modified hierarchical cooperation (HC) strategy is used. Then, in a dense network of unit area, our result indicates that the derived throughput scaling depends on the path-loss exponent ${\alpha}$ for certain operating regimes due to the power-limited characteristics. It also turns out that the HC protocol is dominant for 2 < ${\alpha}$ < 3 while using the nearest multihop (MH) routing leads to a higher throughput for ${\alpha}{\geq}3$. Second, the impact and benefits of infrastructure support are analyzed, where m base stations (BSs) are regularly placed in UWB networks. In this case, the derived throughput scaling depends on ${\alpha}$ due to the power-limited characteristics for all operating regimes. Furthermore, it is shown that the total throughput scales linearly with parameter m as m is larger than a certain level. Hence, the use of either HC or infrastructure is helpful in improving the throughput of UWB networks in some conditions.

In the presence of a high power cellular network, picocells are added to a Macro-cell layout aiming to enhance total system throughput from cell-splitting. While because of the different transmission power between macrocell and picocell, and co-channel interference challenges between the existing macrocell and the new low power node-picocell, these problems result in no substantive improvement to total system effective throughput. Some works have investigated on these problems. Pico Cell Range Expansion (CRE) technique tries to employ some methods (such as adding a bias for Pico cell RSRP) to drive to offload some UEs to camp on picocells. In this work, we propose two solution schemes (including cell selection method, channel allocation and serving process) and combine new adaptive frequency partitioning reuse scheme to improve the total system throughput. In the simulation, we evaluate the performances of heterogeneous networks for downlink transmission in terms of channel utilization per cell (pico and macro), call blocking probability, outage probability and effective throughput. The simulation results show that the call blocking probability and outage probability are reduced remarkably and the throughput is increased effectively.

A high-throughput Quasi-Cyclic Low-Density Parity-Check (QC-LDPC) decoder architecture is proposed for 60GHz multi-gigabit wireless personal area network (WPAN) applications. Two novel techniques which can apply to our selected QC-LDPC code are proposed, including a four block-parallel layered decoding technique and fixed wire network. Two-stage pipelining and four block-parallel layered decoding techniques are used to improve the clock speed and decoding throughput. Also, the fixed wire network is proposed to simplify the switch network. A 672-bit, rate-1/2 QC-LDPC decoder architecture has been designed and implemented using 90-nm CMOS standard cell technology. Synthesis results show that the proposed QC-LDPC decoder requires a 794K gate and can operate at 290 MHz to achieve a data throughput of 3.9 Gbps with a maximum of 12 iterations, which meet the requirement of 60 GHz WPAN applications.

In one of the most impacting schemes proposed to address the TCP throughput problem over network coding, the network coding layer sends an acknowledgement if an innovative linear combination is received, even when a new packet is not decoded. Although this scheme is very effective, its implementation requires a limit on the coding window size. This limitation causes low TCP throughput in the presence of packet reordering. We argue that a TCP variant detecting a packet loss relying only on timers is effective in dealing with the packet reordering problem in network coding environments as well. Also we propose a new network coding layer to support such a TCP variant. Simulation results for a 2-path environment show that our proposed scheme improves TCP throughput by 19%.
