Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: Of the emergency nurses, 72.1% recognized that workplace violence is serious. Experience with workplace violence correlated positively with violence reaction (r=.32, p<.001), burnout (r-.20, p<.001) and secondary trauma (r=.22, p<.001). Also, reaction to violence was positively correlated with burnout (r=.28, p<.001) and secondary trauma (r=.56, p<.001). Second, there were significant direct effects of teacher efficacy and well-being on teacher professionalism. Third, there were significant indirect effects of teachers' working conditions on their professionalism, via efficacy and well-being, linking the impact of working conditions and the professionalism of teachers. Purpose: This study investigated differences in the relationships of factors including emotional problems, self-perception, parental behavior, and peer attachment with smartphone dependency (SD) among middle school, high school, and college students in South Korea. Methods: This study used data from a nationwide sample of 1,882 middle school, 1,821 high school, and 1,346 college students who owned smartphones. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis were conducted to investigate the predictors of SD based on school level. Results: SD scores significantly differed across school levels. Female gender, more aggressive behavior, less ego-identity, and less monitoring parental behavior were linked to higher SD at all school levels. Less self-esteem and intrusive parental behavior were linked to SD in middle school students. In high school students, additional factors related to higher levels of SD were resilience, intrusive / inconsistent parental behavior, peer trust and alienation, and depression. Additionally, resilience, over-expectant parental behavior, and peer trust were linked to higher SD in college students. Conclusion: This study provides insights into SD and predictors of SD among middle school, high school, and college students. Lung cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Globally, there were an estimated 1.8 million new cases and 1.59 million deaths in 2012. In Korea, the incidence of lung cancer is increasing and 24,267 (47.6/100,000) patients with lung cancer were registered at the Korea Central Cancer Registry in 2015. Previous nationwide surveys of lung cancer were performed in 1998 by the Korean Academy of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases and in 2007 by the Korean Association for Lung Cancer (KALC), but the studies faced difficulties in maintaining lung cancer registry because of limitations regarding the Private Information Protection Act. To produce unbiased and reliable epidemiological data, the KALC and Korean Central Cancer Registry developed a detailed lung cancer registry (KALC-R) data structure. Following a pilot survey of 489 lung cancer cases in 2013, about 10% of the sampled lung cancer cases from the Korean Central Cancer Registry are surveyed each year. With the analysis of detailed data from the KALC-R, an important epidemiological background for scientific research or policy development is expected to be generated.
Objectives: This study aimed to identify the current status and factors associated with emotional support services among care providers in elderly care service organizations. Methods: A total of 87 elderly care service agencies nationwide were recruited for the survey. Agencies' characteristics and emotional capacity monitoring activities; and program-building operations among care providers were measured. The collected data were analyzed using an ANOVA and multiple regression analysis. Results: Emotional capacity monitoring activities and program building were generally low. Factors associated with emotional capacity monitoring activities were region, welfare regulations, and vacation and annual leave provisions, while those associated with emotional capacity building programs were identified as vacation and annual leave provisions.
