The purpose of this study is to figure out the multicultural library services that reflects the unique socio-cultural characteristics of Korea. The Korean libraries have accomplished very prompt adaptations and unquestioning acceptance of the western model, although Korean conditions are totally different from the western. Under these circumstances, this study intends to critically analyze the multucultural library services, based on a thorough investigation of the American libraries' experiences. As a result, this study suggests the proper answers which can be applied to the present Korean library situation. The data for discussion were collected by literature survey, direct observation of American public libraries, and interviews or e-mails with American librarians.

To resolve the problem that multicultural people in Korea suffer from difficulties especially with prejudice and discrimination, it is necessary to raise the cultural diversity in communities in Korea through cultivating multicultural awareness among non-multicultural people. In this vein, public libraries, as cultural exchange institutes, can affect multicultural awareness of the people. This study investigated how characteristics of public libraries and their local communities are related to the users' multicultural awareness. The study found that multicultural awareness of library users was significantly influenced by the characteristics of public libraries but not by the characteristics of communities. It is suggested that public libraries should consider cultural diversity on overall library services for their general users to support their multicultural awareness.

The 2020 Digital polarization in accordance with rapid information and communication technology (ICT) development arises as an important issue in the society of the time in S. Korea. And at that time of 2020 S. Korea society due to the multicultural families of nearly one million people are expected to start full-scale multicultural society. So this study has been developed ways to bridge the gap as the digital divide with a discussion of multicultural society policy relevant to advent of the era of the informatization. Also under changing environment of this new paradigm, this study proposed that the future strategic direction like expanded and enhanced information services relevant to multicultural families in S. Korea. So this study focused on the strategy consulting of multicultural society policy with e-Government of S. Korea by the application of 'scenario planning' as a foresight method. As a result, A desirable future vision of multicultural society policy with e-government in S. Korea is to build 'open platform' based on ICT-integrated data services.

The number of multicultural families is on the rise worldwide. In this respect, the central government and municipal governments are also implementing and supporting multicultural-related policies. However, they are in progress, not as services needed for multicultural members but as policy issues. This causes multicultural members to fail to figure out the need of policies supported by the government or local governments, as well as to grasp the desire for what services in need are. In addition to this, many studies regarding multiculture are under way but few studies have been known so far as to multicultural business models. This study has suggested a final business model and strategy methods by designing, comparing and analyzing a business model needed for multicultural members through interviews with professionals and multicultural members with regard to mulcultural policies and examples in Korea.

It is necessary to offer continuing education for the librarians who provide multicultural library services in the middle of increases of multicultural services in public libraries. The research aims to systematize and restructure multicultural service curriculums for librarians' continuing education of the National Library of Korea on the basis of the recently derived multicultural curriculum subjects for librarians. In order to achieve the goal, the research conducted both literature reviews of multicultural library services and interviews with multicultural experts, library experts and a pedagogical professor. The research collected experts' opinions regarding how to operate the multicultural curriculums for librarians and the lecture contents including detailed subjects, lecture methods, lecture times, etc. Also the research condcuted interviews with a pedagogical professor regarding how to operate the suggested curriculum and the opinion was reflected in the final curriculum development. At the results, the research suggested the educational goal entitled with "cultivating librarians with multicultural sensitivity and professional service competency" and the four educational models with different educational cycles, educational contents and methods of evaluation tailored to each educational stage. The research results expect to enable educators (both instructors and administrators) to operate each curriculum flexibly according to education demands, and to enhance the effectiveness of the curriculums.

The purpose of this study was to investigate factors which influence the degrees of parenting stress experienced by mothers within multicultural famiiles. This study will provide basic data which can be used to develop services and programs for multicultural families. The data were collected utilizing questionnaires administered to 155 mothers of multicultural families. The data were analyzed by means of ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression using the SPSS 18.0 program. The results were as follows : Firstly, the educational level, self-esteem, depression, and marital satisfaction of the mother are factors that significantly influence a mother's parenting stress within the context of a multicultural family. Secondly, the mother's psychological factor, including her self-esteem and depression, and the mother's educational level were the clearest indicators for their relative level of their parenting stress.

The purpose of this study is to clarify the actual condition of the multicultural family support center in Gyeongnam area in order to provide more faithful services for the multicultural family members. As a research method, the social characteristics of multicultural families were examined through literature review, and the installation and operation standard of the support center was reviewed. In addition, 15 multicultural family support centers set up and operated in Gyeongnam area were identified and the characteristics of the plan composition of the detailed case facilities were identified. As a result, the characteristics of multicultural family support center area size, composition type, and operation type were revealed. Through analysis of the spatial areas of the regional support centers of cities and counties, it was revealed that 42.1% of the education area, 40.7% of the administrative area, 12.0% of the consultation area and 5.2% of the exchange area were analyzed. In addition, when the dedicated area of the multicultural family support center is a small-scale facility, it has been found that the space for administration, counseling, and education is secured.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors influencing the marital satisfaction of husbands in multicultural families. This study will provide basic data to develop the policies and services related to multicultural families. Data were collected through the questionnaire method from 99 multicultural couples. Analysis of the data consisted of t-tests to compare the psychological characters of the couple and multiple regression to analyze the independent effects of the related variables. The results can be summarized as follows: First, self-esteem, depression, and multicultural acceptance attitude are significantly higher for the wife than for the husband. Second, regarding the influence of the relevant factors on the husband's marital satisfaction, the most significant factors include the gap in the couple's ages, the husband's self-esteem and sex role attitude, and the wife's sex role attitude, godiness, and marital satisfaction.

This study aims to quantitatively assess collection and circulation data of one small library in an area where multicultural users are concentrated and draw policy implications on improving multicultural services for public libraries. The Ansan Multicultural Small Library was selected for examining the library's collection and circulation usages from 2016 to 2022. The numbers of collection and circulation, collection turnover rates and use factors were calculated by year, language, and KDC subject. The result of this study presents the empirical evidence drawn from users' circulation usage, which can be a basis for leading to valid collection development and multicultural service policies.

This study was designed to investigate variables influencing the job satisfaction of visiting supervisors for multicultural families in charge of childcare services. It focused on personal characteristics including personal and job characteristics. The subjects in this study were 784 visiting supervisors for multicultural families in charge of childcare services in 140 multicultural family centers located across Korea. The job satisfaction of these visiting supervisors was measured using a self-administered questionnaire, and the collected data were analyzed using a frequency analysis, analysis of variance, and post hoc tests. The findings of this study were as follows: first, these visiting supervisors showed a relatively high level of job satisfaction. However, the job satisfaction subscales of treatment and salary were relatively low. Second, the results revealed significant differences in effects of the variables related to the personal characteristics of the visiting supervisors, such as their age, education level, and their major in college, on their total job satisfaction and subscales (job performance, treatment and salary, work ethic and aptitude). Finally, the results revealed significant differences in the effects of the variables related to the job characteristics of the visiting supervisors, such as their responsibilities, career, number of children to handle, and age of children to handle, on the total job satisfaction and subscales (treatment and salary, relationship with caregivers).
