  • This paper treats the conditions for the existence of rotating wave solutions of a system modelling the behavior of students in graduate programs at neighbouring universities near each other which is a modified form of the model proposed by Scheurle and Seydel. We assume that both types of individuals are continuously distributed throughout a bounded two-dimension spatial domain of two types (circle and annulus), across whose boundaries there is no migration, and which simultaneously undergo simple (Fickian) diffusion. We will show that at a critical value of a system-parameter bifurcation takes place: a rotating wave solution arises.

  • We consider the boundary value problem with a Dirichlet condition for a second order linear uniformly elliptic operator in a non-divergence form. We study some properties of a barrier at infinity which was introduced by Meyers and Serrin to investigate a solution in an exterior domains. Also, we construct a modified barrier for more general domain than an exterior domain.

  • The problem of parameter identification for multivariable stochastic linear systems from output measurements, which are corrupted by noises, is considered. A modified Luenberger's input/output canonical form is used for reducing the number of unknown coefficients. A computationally and conceptionally simple systematic procedure for parameter estimation is obtained using output correlation method. The estimates are shown to be asymptotically normal, unbiased and consistent. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate the identification method.

  • The 2D g-Navier-Stokes equations are a certain modified Navier-Stokes equations and have the following form, $$\frac{{\partial}u}{{\partial}t}-{\nu}{\Delta}u+(u{\cdot}{\nabla})u+{\nabla}p=f$$, in ${\Omega}$ with the continuity equation ${\nabla}{\cdot}(gu)=0$, in ${\Omega}$, where g is a suitable smooth real valued function. In this paper, we will derive 2D g-Navier-Stokes equations from 3D Navier-Stokes equations. In addition, we will see the relationship between two equations.

  • In this present investigation, we introduce a new class of harmonic univalent functions of the form $f=h+{\bar{g}}$ in the open unit disk ${\Delta}$. We get basic properties, like, necessary and sufficient convolution conditions, distortion bounds, compactness and extreme points for these classes of functions.

  • The approximate overdetermined method is proposed for high resolution spectral estimation in case of short data record length or narrow band signal. And a new recursive AR parameter estimation is derived in the form of fast algorithm. For ARMA spectral estimation, two stage procedure is used in estimating ARMA parameters. First AR parameters are estimated by using the modified Yule-Walker equations, and then MA parameters are implicitly estimated by estimating numerator spectral(NS) coefficients.

  • A class of nonparametric estimators of the ratio of scale parameters is proposed. The estimators are based on the distribution-free rank-like test suggested by Fligner and Killeen (1976). An explicit form of the estimator is the median of the ratios of absolute deviations from the combined sample median. A small-sample Monte Carlo study shows that the proposed estimator is more efficient than the Bhattacharyya (1977) estimator. The proposed estimator is is reasonably insensitive to small failures in the assumption of equal medians. A modified estimator is also considered when the meidans are unequal.

  • This paper explores Discourse Rep-resentation Structures which can successfully describe the mental representations that discourse participants form when they hear so-called double access sentences. The syntactic, semantic and pragmatic characteristics of double access sentences are discussed. The analysis proposed in this paper, employing a modified version of the 'conditional beliefs' of Chung(1997), successfully explains the semantic and pragmatic characteristics of present or future tense in double access sentences as well as when and why the speaker should take or can be exempted from the responsibility for using present or future tense in double access sentences.

  • Myofibrillar protein from Alaska pollack was modified with acetic anhydride at pH 7.5 and $25^{\circ}C$ and changes in functional properties as affected by the degree of modification were determined. Acetylation of myofibrillar protein resulted in protein with unique functional properties dependent upon the degree of acetylation. By selecting appropriate degree of modification it was possible to control protein solubility heat coagulability calcium precipitability foaming and emulsion capa-city.

  • Many livings form groups which we consider as collective systems. The collective motion of the group shows various dynamics and patterns, and many model equations are proposed to explain such phenomenon. In our previous work, We proposed simple deterministic model which shows various types of group behaviors. In this paper, we modify it in order to apply to a real robotic system. Here we assume that the space resolution of each robot´s sensors is low and that the sensors detect the nearest robots. It was confirmed the robots with modified model also shows various types of motion.
