Hybrid electric propulsion systems (H-EPSs) are an intermediate step for integrated full electric propulsion warships. H-EPSs are a dynamic combination of mechanical and electrical propulsion systems to achieve the required mission performances. The system modes could adapt to meet the requirement of the various operation conditions of a warship. This paper presents a configuration and operating modes of H-EPSs considering the operation conditions of a destroyer class warship. The system has three propulsion modes, namely, motoring mode, generating mode [power take off (PTO) mode], and mechanical mode. The PTO mode requires a careful fuel efficiency analysis because the fuel consumption rate of propulsion engines may be low compared with the generator's engines depending on the loading power. Therefore, the calculation of fuel consumption according to the operating modes is performed in this study. Although the economics of the PTO mode depends on system cases, it has an advantage in that it ensures the reliability of electric power in case of blackout or minimum generator operation.
A convergecast is a popular routing scheme in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) in which every sensor node periodically forwards measured data along configured routing paths to a base station (BS). Prolonging lifetimes in energy-limited WSNs is an important issue because the lifetime of a WSN influences on its quality and price. Low-energy adaptive clustering hierarchy (LEACH) was the first attempt at solving this lifetime problem in convergecast WSNs, and it was followed by other solutions including power efficient gathering in sensor information systems (PEGASIS) and power efficient data gathering and aggregation protocol (PEDAP). Our solution-chain routing with even energy consumption (CREEC)-solves this problem by achieving longer average lifetimes using two strategies: i) Maximizing the fairness of energy distribution at every sensor node and ii) running a feedback mechanism that utilizes a preliminary simulation of energy consumption to save energy for depleted Sensor nodes. Simulation results confirm that CREEC outperforms all previous solutions such as LEACH, PEGASIS, PEDAP, and PEDAP-power aware (PA) with respect to the first node death and the average lifetime. CREEC performs very well at all WSN sizes, BS distances and battery capacities with an increased convergecast delay.
Together with housings, general buildings and industrial facilities, multi-purpose complexes are equipped with various and special equipment. They are often used by many unspecified people, which causes an increase in annual electricity consumption. Because of this, a great amount of money has been spent for electric charge, far more in excess of the budget, so a reasonable electricity rate needs to be estimated. In this study, we surveyed the power consumption, average power use, and annual electricity bill of multi-purpose complexes in the past five years. To see the general tendency of the survey, we conducted a statistical analysis with such parameters as average, maximum, and minimum values. Through regression analysis, we could see the trend of the survey in linear way. Based on the survey, we have developed an electric-rate calculation program to estimate the next year's budget on electricity.
In deeply scaled CMOS technologies, two major non-ideal factors are threatening the survival of the CMOS; i) PVT (process, voltage, and temperature) variations and ii) leakage power consumption. In this paper, we propose a novel post-silicon tuning methodology to scale optimum voltage and frequency "dynamically". The proposed design technique will use our PVT sensor circuits to monitor the variations and based on the monitored variation data, voltage and frequency will be compensated "automatically". During the compensation process, supply voltage is dynamically adjusted to guarantee the minimum total power consumption without violating the frequency requirement. The simulation results show that the proposed technique can reduce the total power by 85% and the static power by 53% on average for the selected ISCAS'85 benchmark circuits with 45 nm CMOS technology compared to the results of the traditional PVT compensation method.
This paper shows a reasonable demand power, that was made by the systematic and statistical way considering actual conditions, such as investigated transformer capacity and peak power for the last 6 years of subway substation customer as to AMR. In this dissertation, it is necessary to analyze the key features and general trend from the investigated data. It made an analysis of the feature parameters, such as average, standard deviation, median, maximum, minimum and thus it was carried by the linear and nonlinear regression analysis. And we studied on the application of a BESS. Analysis showed that the revulsion of capital is about 3 years and 4 months.
Various efforts have been initiated to reduce the energy consumption of the compressor as it is one of the approaches to saving a large portion of the fixed cost of the production site. Various results of reducing the energy consumption of the compressor have been reported, but to reduce the energy consumption of the compressors fundamentally, regular management of the compressor should ensure optimum operation. This requires periodic on-site visits by experts, but is often overlooked as a cost issue, resulting in the use of the compressor in low-efficiency conditions. Thus, it is necessary to develop a low-cost evaluation technology for compressor condition monitoring and efficiency analysis to ensure that the compressor is always driven at the optimum efficiency without imposing undue burden on the compressor user. In this study, a sensor was installed at the inlet, outlet, and power supply of the compressor, and a method for evaluating the energy consumption of the compressor using the minimum sensor was derived. The experimental results are presented to show the validity of the proposed method. It was confirmed that the energy consumption of the compressor can be easily as well as efficiently evaluated by using the method developed in this study.

Purpose: This paper is aimed at analyzing the heating performance of the vertical closed loop type Geothermal Heat Pump System (GHPS) distributing the farm site and providing basic data of the GHPS. Method: Seedling greenhouse heating was made from October 2012 to May 2013. The seedling greenhouse was divided into 4 sectors (A, B, C and D zone, total $3,300m^2$) with different temperatures. It was heated from 5PM to 8AM, and during the night the greenhouse was covered by non-woven fabric thermal curtains along the upper 2m of the greenhouse for temperature maintenance. In order to analyze the heating performance of the GHPS, power consumption and operating time of the GHPS, inlet and outlet water temperature of the condenser, temperatures of each zone of the greenhouse, and ambient temperature were measured. Results: When operating only one heat pump unit, heat generated in the condenser decreased as the experiment progressed and power consumption increased correspondingly. However, the heating coefficient of performance decreased from 3.3 to 2.0 rapidly. Also, when operating two heat pump units, heat generated in the condenser decreased and power consumption increased. Heating coefficient of performance decreased from 4.5 to 3.7 rapidly. When the set temperature of the greenhouse was $13.7{\sim}20.1^{\circ}C$ and minimum ambient temperature was $-20.8{\sim}4.8^{\circ}C$, the annually accumulated heat and power consumption were 520,623 kW, 142,304 kW, respectively. Conclusion: When the set temperature of the greenhouse was $13.7{\sim}20.1^{\circ}C$ and the minimum ambient temperature was $20.8{\sim}4.8^{\circ}C$, the annually accumulated heat and power consumption were 520,623 kW, 142,304 kW, respectively. When operating only one heat pump unit, the heating COP was 2.0~3.3, and when operating 2 heat pump units, it was 3.7~4.5. If several heat pumps are installed in one GHPS, it is suggested that all heat pumps be operated except in special cases. Because the scale of the water pumps are set to the scale of when all heat pump units are operating, if even one unit is not operating, the power consumption will increase. That becomes the cause of COP decrease.
In this paper the main topologies of one-bit full adders, including the most interesting of those recently proposed, are analyzed and compared for speed, power consumption, and power-delay product. The comparison has been performed on circuits, optimized transistor dimension to minimize power-delay product. The investigation has been carried out with properly defined simulation runs on a Cadence environment using a 0.25-${\mu}m$ process, also including the parasitics derived from layout. Performance has been also compared for different supply voltage values. Thus design guidelines have been derived to select the most suitable topology for the design features required. This paper also proposes a novel figure of merit to realistically compare n-bit adders implemented as a chain of one-bit full adders. The results differ from those previously published both for the more realistic simulations carried out and the more appropriate figure of merit used. They show that, except for short chains of blocks or for cases where minimum power consumption is desired, topologies with only pass transistors or transmission gates are not attractive.
