무선 메쉬 네트워크 기반의 다층구조 감시 시스템 구축 (Multi-layer Surveillance System based on Wireless Mesh Networks)

  • In the present, Wireless Sensor Network(WSN) has been used for the purpose of the military operation with surveillance systems and for collecting useful information from the natural environment. Basically, low-power, easy deployment and low cost are the most important factors to be deployed for WSNs. Lots of researches have been studied to meet those requirements, especially on the node capacity and battery lifetime improvements. Recently, the study of wireless mesh networks applied into the surveillance systems has been proceeded as a solution of easy deployment. In this paper, we proposed large-scale intelligent multi-layer surveillance systems based on QoS assuring Wireless Mesh Networks and implemented them in the real testbed environment. The proposed system explains functions and operations for each subsystem as well as S/W and H/W architectures. Experimental results are shown for the implemented subsystems and the performance is satisfactory for the surveillance system. We can identify the possibility of the implemented multi-layer surveillance system to be used in practice.

  • Sensor networks have a wide spectrum of military and civil applications, particularly with respect to security and secure keys for encryption and authentication. This thesis presents a new centralized approach which focuses on the group key distribution with revocation capability for Wireless Sensor Networks. We propose a new personal key share distribution. When utilized, this approach proves to be secure against k-number of illegitimate colluding nodes. In contrast to related approaches, our scheme can overcome the security shortcomings while keeping the small overhead requirements per node. It will be shown that our scheme is unconditionally secure and achieves both forward secrecy and backward secrecy. The analysis is demonstrated in terms of communication and storage overheads.

  • As the industrial technology is getting higher, the pulsed power technology is required from various fields such as thermonuclear fusion energy sources, military applications, electric power distribution, and a variety of new specialized needs. This technology deals with the generation of very high power electromagnetic pulses through fast switching. We fabricated a pulsed power generator, named EMD pulse generator, by using Marx circuit with 200 kV high, 50 ns fast rise time. In this paper, we described about an effect of stray capacitance of coaxial Marx generator, EPG-AM200k, and a comparing the results of experiments and circuit analysis.

  • A strapdown inertial navigation system fabrication utilizing dynamically tuned gyroscope was finished as a first stage development. So it's design, fabrication and tests are reported. Although this system lacks in accuracy compared with the cimballed system, factors such as low cost, small size and lightness make it useable in wide range of applications. The initial cost for investment is relatively cheap, and so it is best suitable for local development in various kind of inertial navigation system. Since all of the locally used systems are imported and even with it's close relation to the military, foreign technical transfer is practically non-existent. The independent local development of such system at a time of domestic initation in aerospace and defense industry, can be seen as a significant milestone in the advancement of the inertial navigaion system field.

Simple formulas for the fuel of climbing propeller driven airplanes

  • Simple solutions are obtained for the fuel required by internal combustion engine airplanes on trajectories with a constant rate of climb or descent. Three modes of flight are considered: constant speed, constant Mach number and constant angle of attack. Starting from the exact solutions of the equations of motion for the modes of motion considered, approximate solutions are obtained that are much easier to compute while still being quite precise. Simpler formulas are derived for the weight of fuel, speed, altitude, horizontal distance, time to climb, and power required. These formulas represent a new important contribution since they are fundamental for the analysis of aircraft dynamics and thus have direct applications for the analysis of aircraft performances and mission planning.

실시간 쿼드로터 자율주행과 원격제어 기법 (A Real Time Quadrotor Autonomous Navigation and Remote Control Method)

  • In recent, the demand of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) that can autonomous navigation and remote control has been increased in military, civil and commercial field. Particularly, existing researches focused on autonomous navigation method based on vanish point and remote control method based on event processing in indoor environments. However, the existing methods have some problems. For instance, a detected vanish point in intersection point has too much detection errors. In addition, the delay is increased in existing remote control system for processing images in real time. Thus, we propose improved vanish point algorithm by removing detection errors in intersection point. We also develop a remote control system with android platform by separating flying control and image process. Finally, we compare the proposed methods with existing methods to show the improvement of our approaches.

인체 능력 향상을 위한 하지 외골격 시스템의 기술 동향 (Technical Trend of the Lower Limb Exoskeleton System for the Performance Enhancement)

  • The purpose of this paper is to review recent developments in lower limb exoskeletons. The exoskeleton system is a human-robot cooperation system that enhances the performance of the wearer in various environments while the human operator is in charge of the position control, contextual perception, and motion signal generation through the robot's artificial intelligence. This system is in the form of a mechanical structure that is combined to the exterior of a human body to improve the muscular power of the wearer. This paper is followed by an overview of the development history of exoskeleton systems and their three main applications in military/industrial field, medical/rehabilitation field and social welfare field. Besides the key technologies in exoskeleton systems, the research is presented from several viewpoints of the exoskeleton mechanism, human-robot interface and human-robot cooperation control.

일반화된 Hough 변환을 위한 특수 목적 VLSI 시스템 설계에 관한 연구 (Specialized VLSI System Design for the Generalized Hough Transform)

  • In this research, a mesh connected VLSI structure is proposed for the real time computation of the generalized Hough transform(GHT). The purpose of the research is to design a generalized Hough transformer that can be realized as a single chip processor. The GHT has been modified to yield a highly parallel structure consisting of simple processing elements(PEs) and communication networks. In the proposed structure, the GHT can be computed by first assigning an image pixel to a PE and performing shift and add operations. The result of the CAD circuit simulation shows that it can be computed in the time proportional to the number of pixels in the pattern. In addition to the Hough transformer, the peak detector has been designed to reduce 1)the number of the I/O operations between the transformer and the host computer and 2) the host computer's burden for peak detection by transmitting only the local peaks detected from the transformed accumulator. It is expected that the proposed single chip Hough transformer with peak detector makes a fast and inexpensive edge based object recognition systems possible for many industrial and military applications.

Two-Stage Penalized Composite Quantile Regression with Grouped Variables

  • This paper considers a penalized composite quantile regression (CQR) that performs a variable selection in the linear model with grouped variables. An adaptive sup-norm penalized CQR (ASCQR) is proposed to select variables in a grouped manner; in addition, the consistency and oracle property of the resulting estimator are also derived under some regularity conditions. To improve the efficiency of estimation and variable selection, this paper suggests the two-stage penalized CQR (TSCQR), which uses the ASCQR to select relevant groups in the first stage and the adaptive lasso penalized CQR to select important variables in the second stage. Simulation studies are conducted to illustrate the finite sample performance of the proposed methods.

전지전도성 시멘트모르타르의 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Properties of Electrical Conductive Cement Mortar)

  • Concrete has been used for many years as a composite material that has excellent mechanical properties and durability for construction. However, concrete ia a poor electrical conductor, especially under dry conditions. Concrete that is excellent in both mechanical and electrical conductivity properties may have important applications in the electrical, electronic, military and construction industry (e.g for de-icing road from snow). The purpose of this investigation is to improve the electrical conductive of cement mortar preparared with graphite as filler. From the test result, as the ratio of graphite/cement increased, fluidity, fluidity and strength decreased but resistivity decreased. The resistivity of electrical conductive cement mortar is effect by water/cement ratio and water content of specimen. From this study, it is enough to assure the use of graphite as a conductive filler for electrical conducive cement mortar.
