  • A wide band quasi-log periodic microstrip antenna is designed using circular-disc microstrip patches as a basic radiator. The radiating elements are series-fed by a coplanar feeding network which consists of an open circuited feed line with a branch line connected to each radiating element. Experiment results show that the values of VSWR are less than 2.3 over the range of 2.72-3.43 GHz.

  • A circularly polarized microstrip patch antenna (MPA) using electromagnetic (EM) coupled fed method is analyzed in view of the two types of coupling mechanisms viz. cavity and parasitic type, proposed earlier. The patch-ground plane distance is varied in order to achieve the fore-mentioned types of couplings. For each case of patch-ground plane distance, the offset position of feedline is optimized for perfect matching and the boresight axial ratio (AR) is observed. It is seen that CP operation is possible only for cavity-type coupling (smaller patch-ground plane distances). The simulated results for the boresight AR for the two types of coupling mechanisms are presented.

The proposed multi folded dual monopole antenna are consisted of two folded rectangle loops by microstrip fed that is modified dual monopole antenna. Therefore, the outside rectangle loop structure of the proposed antenna is extended a dual monopole. The characteristics of the proposed antenna is analyzed return loss and radiation patterns by the FDTD tools. As a result a bandwidth of proposed antenna has about 0.82GHz from 2.0 to 2.82[GHz] and 0.7GHz from 5.46 to 6.16[GHz]. It is used WLAN communications of 2[GHz] and 5[GHz].

  • In this paper, A miniature broad-band dime antenna is designed. This antenna consists of two stacked circular patches that create two cylindrical slots resonating at two slightly different frequencies, fed by a strategically positioned coaxial prove. To increase the bandwidth of microstrip patch antenna, a configuration of stacked type is used. Furthermore, to reduce the size of microstrip patch antenna and obtain a double resonant behavior, two shorting-walls are used. Experimental results show that the antenna bandwidth is about 26% centered at 5.8㎓ and are close agreement with the calculation results by HFSS 7.0 software.

  • The current on the thin planar structure as an element of the transversely fed electromagnetically coupled(EMC) microstrip dipole array antenna is obtained by using the integral forms of the finite difference time domain(FDTD) method. This method was applied to calculating the optimum current distribution (Doplh-Tchebyscheff distribution) of each dipole element on the feed line as a function of their offset positions for the narrow main beam width and the side beam level below -20 dB. The current on each dipole substitutes for the electric and magnetic current densities on the virtual surface of the FDTD calculation to express the far field intensity, the calculation time and the computer memeory can be reduced to about 80% and 1.3 Mbyte, respectively. The calculated radiation patterns are compared to the measured values and these are in good agreement.

  • In order to analyze the effect of a cover layer or radome for an antenna, the moment method is applied to the analysis of the circular microstrip patch antenna with dielectric superstrate fed by coaxial probe. The probe feed is modeled as a attachment mode method which can solve more exact analysis. In case of a ideal probe feed modeling, the probe self-impedance as well as the rapidly-varying patch current at the vicinity of the feed point was neglected. But a rigorous probe feed model which overcomes these deficiencies are developed, and used in the analysis of isolated circular patches. Measurements were performed to validate the numerical results. These are good agreement with each other.

  • In this paper, the input impedance of coaxial fed rectangular microstrip patch antenna located inside rectangular waveguide is calculated by using the cavity model and the mode excited in the waveguide by the patch antenna. The return loss and efficiency of the patch antennas as a function of feed position in. free space and in waveguide are calculated and compared. The maximum efficiency of the antennas in waveguide and in free space are obtained at different feed position.

Yagi antenna is fed by a short-ended microstrip line and matched by a Balun circuit embedded within the antenna. The results for the characteristics of the Yagi antenna fabricated on the FR4 substrate (${\epsilon}_r$= 4.4, h=0.8mm) agreed well with those predicted by computer simulations.

  • In this paper, a wideband, circularly polarized patch antenna is proposed that leverages the unidirectional resonant modes of a circular patch mounted on top of a grounded dielectric-ferrite substrate. The proposed antenna is fed via the proximity coupling method and several parasitically coupled patches are placed on a dielectric superstrate to enhance the impedance bandwidth of the antenna. The resonant modes of the structure rotate only in the clockwise or counter clockwise directions. In the frequency range where the effective permeability of the ferrite layer is negative, the resonance frequencies of these modes differ significantly, which produces a large axial ratio (AR) bandwidth. For the proposed antenna, the numerical results show the 10 dB impedance bandwidth to be around 44% and the 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth to be higher than 64%.
