  • In this paper, hardware design and implementation of digital controller for the High Precision Digital Power Supply (HPDPS) based on Digital Signal Processor (DSP) and Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is presented. Developed digital controller is composed of high resolution Digital Pulse Width Modulation (DPWM) and high resolution analog to digital converter circuit with anti-aliasing filter. And Digital Signal Processor (DSP) has the capability of a few micro-second calculation time for one feedback loop. 32-bit DSP and DPWM with 150[ps] step resolution is used to implement the HPDPS. Also 18-bit 2 mega sample per second ADC board is adopted for the developed digital controller. Also, hardware structure of the developed digital controller and experimental results of the first prototype board for HPDPS is described.

  • Typically commercial controllers do not give data of the controller gains. Therefore, it is very hard to determine the optimal controller gain even though the dynamic model is derived. In this case, design of experiment (DOE) methodology can be a powerful tool for gain tuning. In this research, gain tuning process is proposed based on the DOE. Micro parallel mechanism platform with 3 degrees-of-freedom (DOF) is used for the experiments. Controller gains are measured indirectly from the voltages of adjustable resistors. The controller gains of three actuators are optimized by two or three steps, respectively. The correlations of the controller gains are also analyzed. The process and methodology can be adopted in gain tuning of other mechanical systems.

  • In this paper, presented is a feedback control loop, for an in-plane gimbaled micro gyroscope based on methodology and state weighted model reduction technique. The micro gyroscope is the basic inertial sensors. To improve the performances such as stability, wide dynamic range, bandwidth and especially robustness, it is necessary to design a feedback control loop, which must be robust, because the manufacturing process errors can be large. Especially, to obtain wide bandwidth, the feedback controller is indispensable, because the gyroscope is high Q factor system and has small open loop bandwidth. Moreover, the feedback controller reduces the effect...

  • This paper is proposed cooling system of BIPV(Building Integrated Photovoltaic) by micro-controller. The output power of PV generation system is not systematically tracked and influenced by various factors; solar irradiance, solar cell temperature. The temperature of solar module should be minimized to increase electrical output. Therefore, it is proposed that micro-controller cools to decrease temperature of solar module using thermoelement. The validity of this paper is proved by comparing solar module temperature of cooling system and un-cooling system.

  • LED communication is a wireless communication technology to transmit information using visible light coming out from the LED(Light Emitting Diode). It is a technique that can overcome RF(Radio Frequency) communication problems that are frequency allocations, human body hazards, security vulnerabilities, and interference between electronic devices. As a technique that can be used as lighting and communications with using LED, LED communication is suitable for ubiquitous environment. This paper introduces the process of data transmission algorithm for LED communication systems algorithm using LED, PD(Photodiode), and MCU(Micro Controller Unit).

  • A digital tracking controller is proposed for micro electrostatic actuator with input nonlinearity, where disturbance observer is utilized in cooperation with inverse function. Generally the disturbance observer is announced to be robust to modeling uncertainty, and external disturbance. But, when the nonlinearity exists in the systems, the disturbance observer may not directly be applied to that system, because the nonlinearity may destabilize the overall system. Therefore, first, we linearize the nonlinear input characteristics of micro electrostatic actuator by the use of inverse function. Secondly, we apply disturbance observer to approximately linearized system for eliminating the residuals of nonlinearity and the modeling uncertainty. Then, we get the good properties of the disturbance rejection as well as the robustness due to the own nature of disturbance observer. In this case, we propose a sufficient condition for the robust stability of overall systems. Furthermore, we discuss the problem that may be exposed when disturbance observer is applied to the internally stable system with saturation, and analyze two methods to overcome input saturation problem in the sense of internal stability. Simulations have been carried out to show the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

  • Recently, the performance and function of electrical and electronic system in automotive vehicles is developing at a rapid rate with the advancement of IT technologies. Combined together with micro-controller and sensor technologies, the Vehicle Smart System (VSS) being developed to improve driver's convenience and comfort has been employed to a variety of applications. In addition to the convenience system, the Auto-parking Assistance System (AAS) that is now attracting a new attention has been already applied to some vehicles, but it is currently limited to luxury car models only. In this paper, we present a fuzzy controller that enables autonomous parking assistance without the AAS. The controller can perform the assistance with information provided from moving status, current position and steering angle as one is able to park a car based on his/her experience and knowledge for driving and parking. We have evaluated its performance of the proposed controller by simulation and tested the excellence of the controller by building a model vehicle embedded with the micro-controllers.

  • The paper presents the fabrication and test of a micro scent injector module. A micro scent injector module consists of an injector fabricated by micromachining, a scent cartridge and a controller. If a scent injection signal triggers the controller, it heats the scent liquid in the injector chamber and a scent liquid is vaporized. The increased vapor pressure opens a normally closed boss valve, and the scent vapor is injected through the opened nozzle. The liquid volume injected by the fabricated module is about $1\muell$ for one second at 2 W.
