A Study on the Characteristics of Pyrolysis of Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide with Addition of Sulfuric Acid (황산의 첨가에 따른 Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide의 열분해 특성에 관한 연구)

  • An experiment to examine the characteristics of pyrolysis of Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide was conducted in an air-present environment, using TG-DTA. Decomposition starting temperature was decreased as the increase of 98% concentrated H₂SO₄ to the MEKPO and the maximum decomposition temperature of MEKPO was 116.8℃. The activated energy calculated from differential method of pure MEKPO, MEKPO with 1 wt%, 3wt%, and 5wt% of H₂SO₄ were 0.576㎉/mo1, 0.355㎉/㏖, 0.284㎉/㏖ and 0.258㎉/㏖ respectively.

Isolation and Identification of Antimicrobial Substance from Canavalia gladiata

  • Novel antimicrobial substance was isolated from seed coat of Canavalia gladiata by extraction with 75% methanol. Isolation and purification were conducted with solvent fractionation and chromatography on silica gel and sephadex LH-20 columns. Each fraction of antimicrobial activity was tested by paper disc method. Single compound was obtained from the 4th fraction of sephadex LH-20 column chromatography using chloroform/methanol (1:4, v/v), and identified as 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoic acid methyl ester (methyl gallate) based on HPLC, GC/MS, FT-IR, $^1H$ NMR, and $^{13}C$ NMR analyses. This is the first report describing the presence of methyl gallate in C. gladiata.

  • In this study, block copolymer of polystyrene and polyethylene glycol methyl ether methacrylate(PEGMA) by ATRP(atom transfer radical polymerization) method was synthesized. 4 arm-molecule which contained halogen atom was synthesized for an initiator. With 4 arm-molecule monodispered polystyrene were synthesized by ATRP method. The molecular change of synthesized monodispersed polystyrene with respect to time was investigated and living polymer characteristic was confirmed. Block copolymer of polystyrene and polyethylene glycol methyl ether methacrylate(PEGMA) was synthesized by ATRP with macroinitiator which was synthesized from the monodispersed polystyrene(Mn=12000). The molecular weight of obtained PS-b-PEGMA was 22,000.

  • In this study, skeletal mechanisms are produced by directed relation graph with specified threshold value and sensitivity analysis based on species database from the directed relation graph. Skeletal mechanism is optimized through the elimination of unimportant reaction steps by computational singular perturbation importance index. Reduction is performed for the detailed mechanism of methyl butanoate consisting of 264 species and 1219 elementary reactions. Validation shows acceptable agreement for auto-ignition delays in wide parametric ranges of pressure, temperature and equivalence ratio. Methyl butanoate has been proposed as a simple biodiesel surrogate although the alkyl chain consists of four carbon atoms. The resulting surrogate mechanism for n-heptane and MB consists of 76 species and 226 reaction steps including those for NOx.

  • The rheological parameters of poly(methyl acrylate)-poly(acrylonitrile) copolymers were obtained by applying the experimental stress relaxation curves to the theoretical equation of the Eyring-Halsey non-Newtonian model. The experimentals of stress relaxation were carried out using the tensile tester with the solvent chamber. The determination of rheological parameters was performed from computer calculation. It was observed that the rheological parameters of these copolymer samples are directly related to the self diffusions and viscosities and activation energies of flow segments.

  • Methyl methacrlate와 cyclopentadiene을 반응하여 Methyl 5-methylbicyclo(2.2.1)hept-2-ene-5-carboxylate(MMBHC)를 합성코자 하였다. 합성된 MMBHC의 온도, solvent 변화와 촉매($AlCl_3$)의 사용 유무에 따른 endo, exe의 비율을 관찰하였다. 온도가 낮은 경우 온도가 높은 쪽 보다 endo 비율이 높았고 촉매($AlCl_3$)를 사용하였을 때(약 endo : exo = 63 : 37) 촉매를 사용하지 않은 반응(endo : exe = 34 : 66)보다 endo의 비율이 높았다. methyl acrylate를 사용한 경우 같은 조건에서 endo : exe의 비율이 93.5 : 6.5로 MMA를 사용한 경우보다 endo의 비율은 좋았다. 온도가 높은 경우 수율은 좋았지만 exe의 비율이 높았고 solvent에 따라 endo, exe의 선택도는 큰 차이를 보이지 않음을 알 수 있었다.

  • Recently, an understanding of new sources of liquid hydrocarbons such as bio-ethanol is economically very important. Successful design of distillation columns in a separation process depend on the availability of accurate vapor-liquid equilibrium data. For the binary system of Ethanol/3-methyl-l-butanol mixture, isothermal Vapor-liquid equilibrium data were measured at temperature of 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75 and $80^{\circ}C$. An empirical relation to predict Vapor-liquid equilibrium data was obtained from the above measured data. The predicted values are compared with the measured ones to be in a good agreement within accuracy of ${\pm}0.0005$, ${\pm}0.0022$.

  • 2-phenyl-N-methyl-1,3-thiazolium perchlorate(PTP)derivatives were synthesized via addition and substitution reactions. PTP was hydrolyzed under aqueous hydrochloride. The structures of the compounds were conformed by N.M.R.,I.R., and elemental analysis.

  • The intrinsic barrier in the methyl transfer reaction $X^- + CH_3X \rightleftharpoons XCH_3 + X^-$ has been shown to vary quadratically with the C-X distance d; linear dependence of the intrinsic barrier on the deformation energies or methyl cation affinities of the substrate, $CH_3X$, should therefore hold only approximately in a narrow range of structural variations in X.

  • Acyclic nucleosides, 1-[[1,3-bis(benzyloxy)-2-propoxy]methyl]-2-thiopyrimidine, 9-[[1,3-bis(benzyloxy)-2-propoxy]methyl]-6-amino -2-thiopurine, 1-(2-acetoxyethoxymethyl)-2-thiopyrimidine, and 9-[[1,3-bis(benzyloxy)-2-propoxy]methyl]-6-amino -2-thiopurine have been synthesized by coupling pyrimidine and purine bases with acyclic acetates using a new coupling reagent of lithium bromide in the presence of trifluoro acetic acid in acetonitrile.
