A new medium vacuum primary standard using the static expansion method was developed in KRISS. In order to evaluate the performance of the equipment, we compared the medium vacuum standard with an ultrasonic interferometer manometer using two capacitance diaphragm gauges, the measuring ranges of which were 133 Pa and 1,333 Pa respectively. The result, Error normalized values, showed that the two standards are coincident each other within the range of combined uncertainty at calibrated pressure of $3pa\;\sim\;100pa$.
We have developed the hardware and software for automation of the national medium vacuum standard. The automation is necessary to control and monitor the complex system consists of several vacuum chambers, pumping systems, vacuum gauges, thermometers, and valves. By using the automation program, we have measured volume ratios of the system and performed calibration of a capacitance diaphragm gauge in order to evaluate the system.
We developed a national medium vacuum standard by static expansion method. A 133 Pa capacitance diaphragm gauge was calibrated and analysed according to the document of 'Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement' of ISO. The results showed that the expanded uncertainty of $2.628\times10^{-3}$ Pa at $95\%$ confidence level and coverage factor of k=2.
The Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS) has three major vacuum systems: an ultrasonic interferometer manometer (UIM; Section II, Figs. 1 and 2) for a low vacuum, a static expansion system (SES; Section III, Figs. 3 and 4) for a medium vacuum, and an orifice-type dynamic expansion system (DES, Section IV, Figs. 5 and 6) for high and ultra-high vacuum systems. For each system, explicit measurement model equations with multiple variables are given. According to ISO standards, all of these system variable errors were used to calculate the expanded uncertainty (U). For each system, the expanded uncertainties (k = 1, confidence level = 95%) and relative expanded uncertainty (expanded uncertainty/generated pressure) levels are summarized in Table 4. Within the uncertainty limits, our bilateral and key comparisons [CCM.P-K4 (10 Pa to 1 kPa)] are extensive and in good agreement with those of other nations (Fig. 8 and Table 5).
Spectroscopic ellipsometry is an excellent technique for determining dielectric function. To obtain critical point energy, standard analytic critical point expression is used conventionally for second derivatives of dielectric function which might increase high frequency noise than signal. However, reciprocal-space analysis offers several advantages for determining critical point parameters in optical and other spectra, for example the separation of baseline, information, and high frequency noise in low-, medium-, high-index Fourier coefficient, respectively. We used reciprocal Fourier analysis for removing noise and determining critical point of ZnCdSe alloy.

The study about three-phase synthetic making test using DC power has been performed in order to increase the making test capacity on Vacuum Circuit Breaker. And, it made possible to solve the limitations that short-circuit testing facilities can not fulfill the testing requirements of VCB exceeding three-phase 36[kV] 31.5[kA]. By using DC power and high speed spark-gap switch, this method made the equivalence with the pre-arc that occurred during the making process under the fault condition of power system. As results, KERI(Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute) could have capacity to carry out type test for VCB under three-phase 52[kV] 40[kV], which satisfies the IEC Standard.

Atmospheric pressure non-thermal plasma of the needle-typed interaction with aqueous solutions has received increasing attention for their biomedical applications [1]. In this context, surface discharges at bio-solutions were investigated experimentally. We have generated the non-thermal plasma jet bombarding the bio-solution surface by using an Ar gas flow and investigated the emission lines by OES (optical emission spectroscopy) [2]. Moreover, The non-thermal plasma interaction with bio-solutions has received increasing attention for their biomedical applications. So we researched, the OH radical density of various biological solutions in the surface by non-thermal plasma were investigated by Ar gases. The OH radical density of DI water; deionized water, DMEM Dulbecco's modified eagle medium, and PBS; 1x phosphate buffered saline by non-thermal plasma jet. It is noted that the OH radical density of DI water and DMEM are measured to be about $4.33{\times}1016cm-3$ and $2.18{\times}1016cm-3$, respectively, under Ar gas flow 250 sccm (standard cubic centimeter per minute) in this experiment. The OH radical density of buffer solution such as PBS has also been investigated and measured to be value of about $2.18{\times}1016cm-3$ by the ultraviolet optical absorption spectroscopy.

New method of volume measurement for reference weights of a pressure balance using a gas pycnometer is proposed. The result of volume measurement of proposed method shows the uncertainties of approximately 0.2% at the level of confidence of 95% for reference weights in the ranges of 1 kg, 2 kg, and 5 kg. This measuring system consists of a sample chamber, an expansion chamber, a precision pressure gage, a precison thermometer, a vacuum pump, and helium as a medium gas. The measurement principle of this proposed method is based on Boyle's law. This method will contribute a reliability of the volume measurements of reference weights for a pressure balance to the national measurement standard.

There has been an explosive development of nanocrystal (NC) synthesis and application due to their composition-dependent specific properties. Despite the composition, shape, and size of NCs foremost determine their physicochemical properties, the surface state and molecule conjugation also drastically change their characteristics. To make practical use of NCs, it is a prerequisite to understand the NC surface state and the degree to which they have been modified because the reaction occurs on the interface between the NCs and the surrounding medium. We report in here an analysis method to identify conjugated ligands and their binding states on semiconductor nanocrystals based on their molecular information. Surface science techniques, such as time-of-flight secondary-ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) and FT-IR spectroscopy, are adopted based on the micro-aggregated sampling method. Typical trioctylphosphine oxide-based synthesis methods of CdSe/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) have been criticized because of the peculiar effects of impurities on the synthesis processes. Since the ToF-SIMS technique provides molecular composition evidence on the existence of certain ligands, we were able to clearly identify the n-octylphosphonic acid (OPA) as a surface ligand on CdSe/ZnS QDs. Furthermore, the complementary use of the ToF-SIMS technique with the FT-IR technique could reveals the OPA ligands' binding state as bidentate complexes.
