  • This paper is a study on the understanding process of「Matrix and Graph」on discrete mathematics using TI-92 calculator. For this purpose, we investigated the understanding process of two middle school students learning the concepts of matrix and graph using TI-92 calculator. In this process, we collected qualitative data using recorder and video camera. Then we categorized these data as follows: students' attitude related to using technology, understanding process of meaning, expression and operation of matrix and graph, mathematical communication, etc. From this, we have the following conclusions: First, students inquired out the meaning and role of matrix by themselves using calculator. We could see that calculator can do the role of good learning partner to them. Second, students realized their own mistakes when they used calculator on the process of learning matrix. So we found that calculator could form the self-leading learning circumstance on learning matrix. Third, calculators reinforce the mathematical communication in learning matrix and graph. That is, calculator could be a good mediator to reinforce mathematical communication between teacher and students, among students on learning matrix and graph.

  • This paper proposes the way of improving learning speed in Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm using the principal submatrix of Jacobian matrix. The Levenberg-Marquardt learning uses Jacobian matrix for Hessian matrix to get the second derivative of an error function. To make the Jacobian matrix an invertible matrix. the Levenberg-Marquardt learning must increase or decrease ${\mu}$ and recalculate the inverse matrix of the Jacobian matrix due to these changes of ${\mu}$. Therefore, to have the proper ${\mu}$, we create the principal submatrix of Jacobian matrix and set the ${\mu}$ as the eigenvalues sum of the principal submatrix. which can make learning speed improve without calculating an additional inverse matrix. We also showed that our method was able to improve learning speed in both a generalized XOR problem and a handwritten digit recognition problem.

  • A fuzzy learning method to control an unstable and multivariable system is presented in this paper, Because the multivariable system has generally a coupling effect between the inputs and outputs, it is difficult to find its modeling equation or parameters. If the system is unstable, initial condition rules are needed to make it stable because learning is nearly impossible. Therefore, this learning method uses the initial rules and introduces a cost function composed of the actual error and error-rate of each output without the modeling equation. To minimize the cost function, we experimentally got the Jacobian matrix in the operating point of the system. From the Jacobian matrix, we can find the direction of the convergence in the learning, and the optimal control rules are finally acquired when the fuzzy rules are updated by changing the portion of the errors and error rates.

  • Unlike using the sequence-based representation for a chromosome in previous genetic algorithms for Bayesian structure learning, we proposed a matrix representation-based genetic algorithm. Since a good chromosome representation helps us to develop efficient genetic operators that maintain a functional link between parents and their offspring, we represent a chromosome as a matrix that is a general and intuitive data structure for a directed acyclic graph(DAG), Bayesian network structure. This matrix-based genetic algorithm enables us to develop genetic operators more efficient for structuring Bayesian network: a probability matrix and a transpose-based mutation operator to inherit a structure with the correct edge direction and enhance the diversity of the offspring. To show the outstanding performance of the proposed method, we analyzed the performance between two well-known genetic algorithms and the proposed method using two Bayesian network scoring measures.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop an examination system for an e-learning quality manager's certificate which is composed of subjects, criteria, method of examination. The task model of e-learning quality manager was modify and task/knowledge/skill matrix was developed to design the examination system through conferences of DACUM committee and an advisory committee. And a survey was carry out to analyze validity of contents of the examination system. The major findings were as the follow: First, occupational specification, job specification, task specification and task/knowledge/skill matrix were developed. Second, examination subjects were developed based on task/knowledge/skill matrix, which were "Basis of e-Learning and plan of service", "Expulsion and management of e-learning infrastructure", "Development of e-learning contents", "Operation and evaluation of e-learning service". Third, the criteria and methods of examination for an e-learning quality manager's certificate were developed, which is composed of test type, the sum of test items, test time and acceptable standards.

  • Artificial intelligence has emerged as the core of the 4th industrial revolution, and large amounts of data processing, such as big data technology and rapid data analysis, are inevitable. The most fundamental and universal data interpretation technique is an analysis of information through regression, which is also the basis of machine learning. Ridge regression is a technique of regression that decreases sensitivity to unique or outlier information. The time-consuming calculation portion of the matrix computation, however, basically includes the introduction of an inverse matrix. As the size of the matrix expands, the matrix solution method becomes a major challenge. In this paper, a new algorithm is introduced to enhance the speed of ridge regression estimator calculation through series expansion and computation recycle without adopting an inverse matrix in the calculation process or other factorization methods. In addition, the performances of the proposed algorithm and the existing algorithm were compared according to the matrix size. Overall, excellent speed-up of the proposed algorithm with good accuracy was demonstrated.

  • The recommendation system is actively researched for the purpose of suggesting information that users may be interested in in many fields such as contents, online commerce, social network, advertisement system, and the like. However, there are many recommendation systems that propose based on past preference data, and it is difficult to provide users with little or no data in the past. Therefore, interest in higher-order data analysis is increasing and Matrix Factorization is attracting attention. In this paper, we study and propose a comparison and replay of the Factorization Machines Leaning(FM) model which is attracting attention in the recommendation system and High-Order Factorization Machines Learning(HOFM) which is a high - dimensional data analysis.

  • In this paper, we consider a quadratic matrix equation Q(X) = AX2 + BX + C = 0 where A, B, C ∈ ℝn×n. A new approach is proposed to find solutions of Q(X), using the novel structure of the information processing system. We also present some numerical experimetns with Artificial Neural Network.

  • Z. Cao had proposed NFRM(new fuzzy reasoning method) which infers in detail using relation matrix. In spite of the small inference rules, it shows good performance than mamdani's fuzzy inference method. In this paper, we propose 2. Cao's fuzzy inference method using learning ability witch is used a gradient descent method in order to improve the performances. Because it is difficult to determine the relation matrix elements by trial and error method which is needed many hours and effort. Simulation results are applied linear and nonlinear system show that the proposed inference method has good performances.
