수학교육 형평성에 관한 문헌 연구 (Equity in School Mathematics Education: A Review of the Literature)

  • 수학교육 형평성은 문화, 인종 등과 같은 요인으로 야기되는 사회적 불평등과 수학교육의 관계에 주목한다. 수학교육 형평성은 최근 수학교육의 중요한 화두 중 하나로 인지되고 있으며, 미래 사회를 위한 수학교육의 방향을 설정하는 중요한 근거가 될 수 있다. 이에 본 문헌 연구에서는 국내외 선행연구를 검토하여 국내 수학교육 연구에 유의미한 시사점을 제공하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 국내외 195편의 문헌을 검토하여 수학교육 형평성의 개념과 의의를 분석하였다. 문헌 검토를 위해 본 연구에서는 연구 문제를 중심으로 선정된 선행연구를 범주화하여 수학교육 형평성과 관련한 기존 논의를 정리하였다. 이때 수학교육 형평성에 관한 연구 문제는 수학 교사, 수학교육과정, 수학 교실, 수학 평가, 수학 교실을 둘러싼 사회·문화적 배경으로 구분하였다. 본 연구의 분석 결과는 수학교육 형평성에 관해 국내외에 논의된 내용을 확인할 기회를 넘어 국내 수학교육 연구자에게 새로운 연구 방향과 방법을 제시할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

문이과 통합형 개정 교육과정에 따른 이공계열 신입생의 고교 수학 및 과학 교과목 학습경험 분석: S 대학교를 중심으로 (Analysis of the Learning Experience of College Students According to the 2015 Revised National Curriculum)

  • The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze the learning experiences of high school mathematics and science subjects of new students in science and engineering, and to provide basic data and respond to strengthen basic knowledge of science and engineering students in the future. The subjects of the survey were 481 freshmen in science and engineering at S University. First, as a result of analyzing the learning experiences of freshmen, the geometric subjects were significantly lower, which is the result of students' sensitive responses to transitional changes in the curriculum and SAT system after revision. In science, general elective subjects were higher than career elective subjects, and there was a deviation between science subjects, which is a result of reflecting the diversity and hierarchy of science subjects. Next, as a result of analyzing the difference in learning experience after revision compared to before the revision of the curriculum, the learning experience of Mathematics II increased significantly and the geometry decreased significantly. Both Chemistry I and II increased significantly compared to before the revision, and Earth Science I decreased significantly. This can be seen as a result of strategic choices based on obtaining grades in the CSAT and disadvantages in college entrance exams. As a result of the study, students' sensitive reactions to changes in the high school education environment were confirmed, basic mathematics and science-related courses were opened to alleviate variations in the academic ability due to elective courses, and countermeasures tailored to each university's situation.

  • The purpose of this research was to analyze the convergent approaches for creativity in elementary mathematics textbooks in Korean and the united States. Convergent approaches have emphasized since NCTM(2000) consistently includes 'connections' as an important factor in mathematics curriculum and KOFAC(Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science & Creativity) initiated the STEAM(Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) in mathematics and science education. For this research, two elementary mathematics textbooks were analyzed focused on their contexts and contents: Korean National Elementary Mathematics Textbooks and Navigations in Numbers, Data, and Space. In both textbooks, it was not easy to find so called the convergent approach in a real sense, but they use some contexts for connections between mathematical concepts and real world phenomena. For the enhancement of convergent approaches in mathematics education, we need to have a broader sense in the convergent approaches and develop various meaningful materials.

사범대학의 이차곡선 영역 교육에 대한 교수 및 교사의 인식 (The Perception of the Professors and Teachers about the Education on Quadratic Curves in Various Universities)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 이차곡선에 관한 대학교 사범대학 수학교육과의 교육이 고등학교 교육과정과 관련하여 어떻게 이루어지고 있는지, 이에 대한 교수, 교사, 예비교사의 인식은 어떠한지에 대하여 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해 3개 대학의 수학교육과와 1개 고등학교를 선정하여, 이차곡선이 강의되는 강좌의 강의담당 교수와 그 강좌를 수강했던 예비교사, 그리고 경기도 소재 1개 고등학교의 수학교사를 대상으로 교육내용과 이에 대한 인식에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 이차곡선에 관한 사범대학 교육과정은 고등학교 교육과정과 관련하여 적절하게 운영되고 있는 것으로 판단된다. 사범대학 교육과정에는 이차곡선에 관한 내용이 강의되는 강좌가 포함되어 있으며, 그 강좌에서 이차곡선에 관한 학교수학과 연결된 학문적 수학 내용이 충분히 강의되고 있으며, 그 강의를 수강한 학생들의 66.1%가 이차곡선에 관한 이해도가 좋아졌다고 인식했으며, 현직교사들 또한 대부분의 내용에 대하여 필요한 것으로 인식하고 있다. 둘째, 사범대학 교육과정에서 실제 고등학교 교육 현장과의 연결성 강화가 요구된다. 사범대학 교육과정에서 배우는 이차곡선에 관한 내용은 고등학교 교육과정과의 관련성이 크고, 사범대학에서 이에 대하여 배울 필요성 또한 큰 것으로 인식하고 있지만, 사범대학에서 학습하는 내용들이 현장에서의 활용과는 유리되어 배우고 있다는 인식과 함께 이에 대한 개선의 필요성을 느끼고 있다. 셋째, 이차곡선에 관한 내용지식의 범위를 학교수학과 연결된 학문적 수학의 범위로 확대하려는 자발적 노력을 촉진, 장려하는 제도적 장치의 마련과 지원이 요구된다.

교과과정 개발을 위한 기초로서의 개발연구에 대한 고찰 (Reflections on Developmental Research as a Research Methodology)

  • 본 연구는 수학교육의 연구 방법론에 대한 많은 변화와 더불어 교과과정 개발의 과학적 접근에 대한 필요성이 증대되는 수학교육 연구 경향에 비추어, RME의 개발연구를 고찰함으로써, 우리나라의 좀더 발전적인 수학 교과과정 개발을 위한 시사점을 제시하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여 RME 개발연구의 배경과 이론적 틀, 개발연구의 목표, 절차, 자료수집, 자료분석, 정당화 과정을 포함한 개발연구의 방법론에 대해 살펴보았다. 마지막으로 우리나라의 수학 교과과정 개발의 개선을 위해 수학교육의 이론과 실제를 반영한 교육과정 문서의 구성, 교과과정 개발 배경에 대한 충실한 보고, 교과과정 개발 절차 개정의 필요성을 논하였다.

미적분학 복습시험을 포함하는 공업수학 수업모형 연구 (A Class Model of Engineering Mathematics Including a Calculus Review Test)

  • How to teach calculus is an important issue since Calculus is the first mathematics in college curriculum which highly influences other subjects including Physics, Engineering Mathematics like differential equations, and other engineering major subjects. This study suggests that a class model of Engineering Mathematics include Calculus review test so that students can study for themselves Calculus 'outside Calculus class'. First of all, a systematic process of administrating a review test is presented. Secondly, scores of the Calculus review test is statistically analyzed to confirm that ability in Calculus is highly correlated to their achievements in Engineering mathematics. Through a survey, it is confirmed that students in Engineering Mathematics study Calculus for themselves as they think Calculus review test is helpful.

Senior Secondary School Students' Epistemological Conceptions of Mathematics in China: Characteristics and Development Process

  • This paper reports findings from a survey of senior secondary school students' epistemological conceptions of mathematics with the adaption of the instrument of the "Conceptions of Mathematics" - Inventory in China. The survey included a sample of 414 Grade 10 students, 441 Grade 11 students, and 400 Grade 12 students from three provinces. Descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, and T-test were employed to analyze data in this study. It was found that senior secondary school students mainly focused on objectivity and reality of mathematics, without highlighting the characteristics of sociality, subjectivity, and creativity of mathematics. In addition, besides gender differences, differences were identified among students from different grades, different areas, taught by teachers with different teaching experience and experience in using reformed curriculum.

분류의 관점에서 초등수학 평면도형 고찰 (A Study on the Plane Figure of Elementary School Mathematics in the View of Classification)

  • In this article, we investigated plane figures introduced in elementary school mathematics in the perspective of traditional classification, and also analyzed plane figures focused on the invariance of plane figures out of traditional classification. In the view of traditional classification, how to treat trapezoids was a key argument. In the current mathematics curriculum of the elementary school mathematics, the concept of sliding, flipping, and turning are introduced as part of development activities of spatial sense, but it is rare to apply them directly to figures. For example, how are squares and rectangles different in terms of symmetry? One of the main purposes of geometry learning is the classification of figures. Thus, the activity of classifying plane figures from a symmetrical point of view has sufficiently educational significance from Klein's point of view.

국내외 수학교육 연구 동향 비교 분석 (A Comparative Analysis on Research Trends of Secondary Mathematics Education between Korea and Overseas)

  • The objective of this study is to review how researches on mathematics education are being conducted currently in Korea and overseas and to examine the current state of domestic researches on mathematics education from a broader view. Although many efforts have been made to understand trends in researches on mathematics education, there have been few in depth studies on research trends in overseas or for comparison between domestic and overseas trends. Thus, this study classified and analyzed 181 domestic articles between 2005 and 2009 in the journals and and 201 overseas articles in the journals and according to year, research area, research contents, school level, research method, and key words using the PME classification system with some modification. Through these analysis, we examined research trends on secondary mathematics education in Korea and overseas. The research findings are as follows. First, 'teaching learning process' was a spotlight area both at home and overseas, and 'realistic mathematics' and 'social cultural subjects' were not covered much either at home or overseas. 'Mathematical communication' occupied a very small portion in Korea but was a highly interesting area in overseas research. Second, research contents of interest were different between Korea and overseas. Research on general area was the mainstream. But geometry and statistics were mainly studied in Korea and algebra and analysis in overseas. Third, research related to middle school was twice more than that related to high school in Korea, But, research related to middle school was the same as high school in overseas. Fourth, qualitative research was the absolute majority both at home and overseas, and philosophical didactical analysis was used only in Korea. Fifth, the order of key words were problem solving - teacher - curriculum - creativity - textbook in Korea, but teacher - teaching - semiotic - affective factor - proo f- problem solving - technology in overseas.

삼차방정식에 관한 Omar Khayyām의 기하학적 해법의 재해석과 시각화 - 항이 4개인 삼차방정식의 6가지 - (Reinterpretation and visualization of Omar-Khayyam's geometric solution for the cubic equation - 6 cases of the cubic equation with 4 terms -)

  • This research is devoted to investigate Omar Khayyām's geometric solution for the cubic equation using conic sections in the Medieval Islam as a useful alternative connecting logic geometry with analytic geometry at a secondary school. We also introduce Omar Khayyām's 25 cases classification of the cubic equation with all positive coefficients. Moreover we study 6 cases with 4 terms of 25 cubic equations and in particular we reinterpret geometric methods of solving in 2015 secondary Mathematics curriculum and visualize them by means of dynamic geometry software.
