  • The Ministry of Education Science and Technology represented National Mathematics Education Advance Plan in 2012. The plan is focused on reinforcing mathematics education, improving understanding about mathematics, and enhancing self-guided learning. After the National Mathematics Education Advance Plan new middle school mathematics textbooks have been developed and they will be used from 2013. The purpose of this study is to analyse those mathematics textbooks to find how the National Mathematics Education Advance Plan is affected to the mathematics textbooks. This study found some important aspects affected from the Advance Plan to those textbooks and some implications for the future Korean mathematics education.

  • The purpose of this research was to analyze the convergent approaches for creativity in elementary mathematics textbooks in Korean and the united States. Convergent approaches have emphasized since NCTM(2000) consistently includes 'connections' as an important factor in mathematics curriculum and KOFAC(Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science & Creativity) initiated the STEAM(Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) in mathematics and science education. For this research, two elementary mathematics textbooks were analyzed focused on their contexts and contents: Korean National Elementary Mathematics Textbooks and Navigations in Numbers, Data, and Space. In both textbooks, it was not easy to find so called the convergent approach in a real sense, but they use some contexts for connections between mathematical concepts and real world phenomena. For the enhancement of convergent approaches in mathematics education, we need to have a broader sense in the convergent approaches and develop various meaningful materials.

  • In this paper, we obtain some applications of first order differential subordination and superordination results involving the operator $J_{s,b}^{{\lambda},p}$ for certain normalized p-valent analytic functions associated with that operator.

  • In this paper, two hybrid difference schemes on the Shishkin mesh are constructed for solving a weakly coupled system of two singularly perturbed convection-diffusion second order ordinary differential equations with a small parameter multiplying the highest derivative. We prove that the schemes are almost second order convergence in the supremum norm independent of the diffusion parameter. Error bounds for the numerical solution and its derivative are established. Numerical results are provided to illustrate the theoretical results.

  • In this paper, a finite difference method for a Cauchy problem of RLW-Burgers equation was considered. Although the equation is not energy conservation, we have given its the energy conservative finite difference scheme with condition. Convergence and stability of the difference solution were proved. Numerical results demonstrate that the method is efficient and reliable.

  • The goal of this study is to bring out the following conclusion: Let 𝓡 be a non-commutative prime ring of characteristic not two and 𝓓 be a bi-semiderivation on 𝓡 with a function 𝖋 (surjective). If 𝓓 acts as an endomorphism or as an anti-endomorphism, then 𝓓 = 0 on 𝓡.

  • The history of the gifted education in mathematics is short. And the governmental policies and school practices for gifted education were more focused on gifted education in science. But the gifted education in mathematics will become an important part of gifted education. A situation of the education center for the gifted in science is developing favorably more and more because students and parents have a correct understanding of the education center for the gifted in science. The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the mathematics curriculum, the contents of education at mathematics class and the actual conditions of operation by the education center for the gifted in science attached to 23 universities in Korea. And we suggested several ideas to improve the problems for gifted education in mathematics.
