  • This study analyzed the concept of equal symbol(=) that is the most symbol used in learning of mathematics and investigated students' understanding of that. The equal symbol is endowed with the 'same', 'equal', and 'equivalent' meaning, represented by =, but students interpret the meaning of equal symbol according to the mathematical con text. Thus, we analyzed the equal symbol on the basis of the theory of conceptual fields. In the theory of conceptual fields, concept is a three-tuple of three sets of situation, operational invariants and symbolic representations, and the operational invariants are the concept-in-action and the theorems- in-action. With the analysis contents, we investigated how students read = by korean, what equals in the expression containing = or by what meaning students used =, and which they could correct the error for =. This study imply that we should consider the symbol notation agreed by mathematical society, the meaning, and the situational context that it used, when we teach the mathematics symbols.

  • We prove using the Szeg$\H{o}$ kernel and the Garabedian kernel that a Toeplitz operator on the boundary of $C^{\infty}$ smoothly bounded domain associated to a smooth symbol vanishes only when the symbol vanishes identically. This gives a generalization of previous results on the unit disk to more general domains in the plane.

  • White noise distribution theory over the complex Gaussian space is established on the basis of the recently developed white noise operator theory. Unitarity condition for a white noise operator is discussed by means of the operator symbol and complex Gaussian integration. Concerning the overcompleteness of the exponential vectors, a coherent sate representation of a white noise function is uniquely specified from the diagonal coherent state representation of the associated multiplication operator.

  • The product of two localization operators with symbols F and G in some subspace of $L^2(C^n)$ is shown to be a localization operator with symbol in $L^2(C^n)$ and a formula for the symbol of the product in terms of F and G is given.

  • Recently, Srivastava et al. [18] introduced the incomplete Pochhammer symbol and studied some fundamental properties and characteristics of a family of potentially useful incomplete hypergeometric functions. Here we introduce the incomplete Lauricella function ${\gamma}_D^{(n)}$ and ${\Gamma}_D^{(n)}$ of n variables, and investigate certain properties of the incomplete Lauricella functions, for example, their various integral representations, differential formula and recurrence relation, in a rather systematic manner. Some interesting special cases of our main results are also considered.

  • We introduce the classes S*(n, a) and K(n, a) of analytic functions by using the symbol $D^af(z)$ defined by $\frac{z}{(1-z)^{1+a}}*f(z)\;(a\geq-1)$. The object of the present paper is to derive some properties of these classes.

  • We introduce formal symbols of product type, of zero class, and of minimum type and show that the formal power series representations for $e^p$ and $e^q$ are formal symbols of product type giving the same pseudodifferential operator, where p and q are formal symbols of minimum type and p - q is of zero class.
