The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between the Multiple Intelligence and the technological problem solving and the differences between the two. There were a group of 200 third grade middle school students that were comprised of 100 boys and 100 girls and what the difference is exited between the boys and the girls. To measure the students' Multiple Intelligence, MI(Multiple Intelligent)Test designed by Youngrin, Moon was used. As the testing instrument of the Technological problem Solving, we use the test developed by National Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, and Students Testing(CRESST). The results were; First, In comparison with the boys and girls' multiple intelligence part, there were individual differences in musical intelligence, bodily-kinesthetic intelligence, logical-mathematical intelligence, and naturalistic intelligence of multiple intelligence. Second, In comparison to the technological problem solving part, there were individual differences in self-regulation and there was a mild difference in understanding of the contents. Third, The multiple intelligence related with the self-regulation is continuous with logical-mathematical intelligence, intra-personal intelligence and linguistic intelligence. Fourth, The multiple intelligence related with the technological problem solving strategy is continuous with logical-mathematical intelligence and musical intelligence. Fifth, The multiple intelligence related with the understanding of the contents is continuous with the logical-mathematical intelligence and naturalistic intelligence. To improve the students' technological problem solving ability, it is required the development of the curriculum which focus on the improvement of logical-mathematical intelligence, musical intelligence, intra-personal intelligence, linguistic intelligence and naturalistic intelligence of the students.
This study investigated what effects multiple intelligence, through which the diverse intelligence abilities of a learner are identified, has on technological problem solving ability according to sex. And it was carried out to present a way to reduce the gap between boys and girls in technological problem solving ability. The subject was 833 middle school students in the third grade (boys: 423, girls: 410) whose schools are located in a megalopolis or more large area. And the instruments developed by Yong-Lyn Moon(2001) and in CRESST(1998) were used. The results of this study are as follows. First, it appeared that there were statistically meaningful differences at six items in multiple intelligence between boys and girls. The six items were bodily-kinesthetic intelligence, logical-mathematical intelligence, naturalistic intelligence, musical intelligence, interpersonal intelligence, and introspective intelligence. Second, in technological problem solving ability, it appeared that boys and girls showed statistically meaningful differences at self-regulation and problem solving strategy. Third, it appeared that logical-mathematical intelligence, linguistic intelligence, introspective intelligence, and natural intelligence had an effect on boys in the way of self-regulation and logic-mathematical intelligence, introspective intelligence, naturalistic intelligence, and linguistic intelligence did on girls. Fourth, it appeared that logical-mathematical intelligence, musical intelligence, and bodily-kinesthetic intelligence had an effect on boys in the way of problem solving ability and linguistic intelligence and musical intelligence had on girls. Fifth, it appeared that logical-mathematical intelligence did an effect on both sexes in drawing up the understanding of contents. On the basis of the results of this study, the area related to multiple intelligence directly or indirectly should be developed in the course of designing the primary and secondary curriculums to reduce the gap between boys and girls in multiple intelligence. With these efforts, the scholastic attainments gap caused by the difference of multiple intelligence will be overcome.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the strength and weakness of intelligences appeared by the profile of multiple intelligences of the mathematical gifted children and their parents. The subjects of this study were 73 students and 73 their parents from D-Education Center for Gifted Children. Their multiple intelligences were measured by a self-scaling test of Korean-Multiple Intelligence Development Assessment Scale, at July in 2009. The conclusions of this study are as follows: The strengths of multiple intelligences of the gifted children in mathematics are logical-mathematical intelligence, intrapersonal intelligence. And, the weakness of multiple intelligences of the gifted in elementary mathematics is bodily-kinesthetic intelligence. This result is similarly in their parents' self-scaling test of KMIDAS. Therefore, formal educational curriculum of the gifted in elementary mathematics is required which can stimulate all kinds of intelligences.
Mathematical creativity is the most important factor for the advancement of mathematics. Only creative mind can produce creative results. But not much research work has been done in this direction. The present author has taken a scheme of developing a mathematical creativity test to identify creative children in mathematics and to find the relationships of psychoticism, neuroticism, intelligence, ability to achieve in mathematics and general creativity with mathematical creativity and their composite effect on it over a population of Bengali medium school students. In this approach, Bengali adaptation of English version of the "Verbal Test of Creative Thinking" by Mehdi [Mehdi, B. (1985). Manual of verbal test of creative thinking (revised edition). Agra, India: National Psychological Corporation.] has been completed. Works of adapting intelligence test, developing mathematical creativity test, adapting personality test in Bengali are in process. Relationships are to be found later.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the strength and weakness of the intelligences appeared by the profile of the multiple intelligences of gifted children in mathematics. The subjects of this study were 80 students from D-Education Center for Gifted Children in Korea. Their multiple intelligences were measured by the self-scaling test of Korean-Multiple Intelligence Development Assessment Scale, in July 2006. The conclusions of this study are as follows: First, the strengths of multiple intelligences of the gifted children in mathematics are in logical-mathematical intelligence, intrapersonal intelligence and interpersonal intelligence. And, the weakness of multiple intelligences of the gifted in elementary mathematics is in bodily-kinesthetic intelligence. Second, formal educational curriculum of the gifted in elementary mathematics is required which can stimulate all kinds of intelligences.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to examine the relative effects of young children's mathematical abilities and scientific abilities on intelligence. Methods: The object of this study is 100 five or six-years-old children in a kindergarten of S district in S city. I conducted analysis of partial correlation after controlled young children's age and sex to examine correlation between young children's mathematical abilities, scientific abilities and intelligence, also I used stepwise multiple regression analysis for inspecting the relative effects of young children's mathematical abilities and scientific abilities on intelligence. Results: Young children's intelligence is relative with mathematical abilities and scientific abilities, this relation is higher in 'measurement' and 'algebra' factors of mathematical abilities and 'predicting' factor of scientific abilities. Mathematical abilities bigger impact to the relative effects on young children's intelligence. Conclusion/Implications: On this, it is necessary that evenly providing the math and science activities in early childhood education field and home, and we have to consider the integrations of the process when provide the math and science integrated activities. This study has the significance to use basic line data when people plan the integrated math-science activities and develop program associated those by finding the relationship between mathematical abilities, scientific abilities and intelligence and evaluating the relative effects on intelligence.
In this study, we compare the multiple intelligence of gifted students with the multiple intelligence of their children recognized by their parents. The subjects of the study are 118 students and their parents at the gifted education center affiliated with A University. First of all, there is a difference between the multiple intelligence of gifted students and the multiple intelligence recognized by their parents. Parents are highly regarded their children in all multiple intelligence components. Second, there are differences in multiple intelligence of gifted students' gender. The difference in multiple intelligence of children recognized by parents depending on the gender of the student was similar to the student's results. Third, there are not much difference in multiple intelligence between elementary and middle school students. However, there is a big difference between students and parents in the elementary school group compared to the middle school students. Therefore, since multi-intelligence can be developed by individual experience and environment throughout one's life, an educational environment that reflects objective evaluation and student needs rather than parental subjective judgment should be created.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the strength and weakness of intelligences appeared by the profile of multiple intelligences of the gifted children in elementary mathematics. The subjects of this study were 79 students from D-Education Center for Gifted Children. Their multiple intelligences were measured by a self-scaling test of Korean-Multiple Intelligence Development Assessment Scale, at the beginning of September in 2003. The conclusions of this study are as follows: First the strengths of multiple intelligences of the gifted children in mathematics are intrapersonal intelligence, logical-mathematical intelligence and interpersonal intelligence. And the weakness of multiple intelligences of the gifted in elementary mathematics is bodily-kinesthetic intelligence. Second, formal educational curriculum of the gifted in elementary mathematics is required which can stimulate all kinds of intelligences.
This study aims to analyse the relationship between multiple intelligence and scientific creativity of science-gifted elementary students focusing on the subject of biology. For this, 37 science-gifted fifth-graders in the Science-Gifted Education Center at an Office of Education conducted a multiple intelligence test. In addition, researchers collected science-gifted students' results of scientific creativity activity at the botanical garden field trip. The main findings from this study are as follows: First, strong intelligence was logical-mathematical intelligence for gifted students, and weak intelligence was found to be naturalistic intelligence for them. Second, there was no significant correlation in the relationship between multiple intelligence and scientific creativity of science-gifted students. Third, as a result of independent two sample t-test for each intelligence and scientific creativity scores divided into the upper and lower groups, only verbal-linguistic intelligence statistically differed significantly at the level of p<.05 (t=2.13, df=35, p=0.04). Fourth, as a result of conducting a two-way analysis to see if there were any interaction effects, verbal-linguistic and visual-spatial, logical-mathematical and visual-spatial, logical-mathematical and bodily-kinesthetic, and visual-spatial and musical-rhythmic intelligence all showed significant values at the level of p<.05 level in interaction effects on originality element comprising scientific creativity. Fifth, an analysis of students with high naturalistic intelligence showed that their scores of scientific creativity tasks conducted at the botanical garden field trip were all lower. Based on the results of this study, this study discussed the implications of scientific creativity learning linking multiple intelligence in primary science education and gifted education.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the applications and possibilities of major programs that provide services using artificial intelligence in mathematics education. For this study, related papers, reports, and materials were collected and analyzed, focusing on materials mostly published within the last five years. The researcher searched the keywords of "artificial intelligence", "artificial intelligence", "AI" and "mathematics education" independently or in combination. As a result of the study, artificial intelligence for mathematics education was mostly supporting learners' personalized mathematics learning, defining it as an auxiliary role to support human mathematics teachers, and upgrading the technology of not only cognitive aspects but also affective aspects. As suggestions, the researcher argued that followings are necessary: Research for the establishment of an elaborate artificial intelligence mathematical system, discovery of artificial intelligence technology for appropriate use to support mathematics education, development of high quality of mathematics contents for artificial intelligence, and the establishment and operation of a cloud-based comprehensive system for mathematics education. The researcher proposed that continuous research to effectively help students study mathematics using artificial intelligence including students' emotional or empathetic abilities, and collaborative learning, which is only possible in offline environments. Also, the researcher suggested that more sophisticated materials should be developed for designing mathematics teaching and learning by using artificial intelligence.
