  • This study presents a favoured pattern of makeup and psychology according to it by recognition type, through an examination of recognition for it in order to understand interest and awareness regarding it among female college students. The makeup is emotionally effective for confidence and positive thought, and is considered to be a category of social manner. The subjects can be grouped according to difference in recognition of makeup: contemplation, reception, observation and correspondence group. Although there is slight difference in the interest of four types of makeup depending on recognition difference, the behavior of makeup plays a large part in establishing personal relationships. The pattern of makeup favours natural style which places an emphasis on skin tone. The female college students in their 20s, who are at the center of current beauty trend market, were asked to conduct questionnaire of makeup, so interest and awareness of makeup behavior can be understand. If these findings are actively used in the beauty trend, various and effective beauty cultures are considered to be created.

  • A geochemical approach to the long-term safety of waste disposal is discussed in connection with the significance of actinides, which shall deliver the major radioactivity inventory subsequent to the relatively short-term decay of fission products. Every power reactor generates transuranic (TRU) elements: plutonium and minor actinides (Np, Am, Cm), which consist chiefly of long-lived nuclides emitting alpha radiation. The amount of TRU actinides generated in a fuel life period is found to be relatively small (about 1 wt% or less in spent fuel) but their radioactivity persists many hundred thousands years. Geological confinement of waste containing TRU actinides demands, as a result, fundamental knowledge on the geochemical behavior of actinides in the repository environment for a long period of time. Appraisal of the scientific progress in this subject area is the main objective of the present paper. Following the introductory discussion on natural radioactivities, the nuclear fuel cycle is briefly brought up with reference to actinide generation and waste disposal. As the long-term disposal safety concerns inevitably with actinides, the significance of the aquatic actinide chemistry is summarized in two parts: the fundamental properties relevant to their aquatic behavior and the geochemical reactions in nanoscopic scale. The constrained space of writing allows discussion on some examples only, for which topics of the primary concern are selected, e.g. apparent solubility and colloid generation, colloid-facilitated migration, notable speciation of such processes, etc. Discussion is summed up to end with how to make a geochemical approach available for the long-term disposal safety of nuclear waste or for the performance assessment (PA) as known generally.

  • The Purpose of. this study was to investigate the relationship between sociocultural attitude toward appearance and appearance-management behavior. The method of the study was survey research by using questionnaires. Subjects were 323 females in their twenties. Statistical analysis methods were frequency, percentage, factor analysis, one-way ANOVA, X²-test, and Duncan's multiple range test. The results of the study were as follows. As for appearance-management behaviors of females in their twenties, they experienced in diet, plastic surgery, skin care, make up, and hair dyeing. There were significant differences in body satisfaction between groups according to body image distortion. Respondents were barely satisfied with their body, and the group with high body image distortion showed low body satisfaction. Sociocultural attitude toward appearance factors was analyzed into 2 factors, iternalization of mass-media and social recognition toward appearance, which respondents considered importantly. A significant difference was found in sociocultural attitude toward appearance and appearance management behavior. The group with positive sociocultural attitude toward appearance was analyzed to show high appearance concern and many experiences of appearance management behaviors.

  • We provide an empirical assessment that examines the differences in appearance management behavior, life satisfaction and demographic variables between groups classified by individual lifestyle. Questionnaires were administered to 513 female and male adults over 17 years of age in the Daegu and Kyungbok metropolitan regions. Descriptive statistics, cluster analysis, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, ANOVA, Duncan test and ${\chi}^2$ test were applied to analyze data from 513 respondents. The results are as follows. First, we did a cluster analysis on the appearance management behavior of weight training, skin care, hair care, make-up and clothing selection. Four groups (passive, rational, fashion oriented, and active typed) where classified according to individual lifestyle. Second, the rational and active groups were more interested in the social life, environmental stability, health, fashion and economic seeking life. They were also more involved in appearance management behavior and in a higher level of life satisfaction. However, the differences of life satisfaction among the lifestyle group (male) were not statistically significant. Third, females with higher level of income and education (among the demographic variables) belonged to the active group. We found significant differences in appearance management behavior, life satisfaction and demographic variables among male and female groups classified by lifestyle.

  • Purpose: This study's aim was to investigate participation in Pap smear screening among married immigrant women and their behavior and its related factors. Methods: A survey was conducted among 165 married immigrant women in Gyeongsangnam-do from January 1 to March 20, 2010. Results: Results in this study showed that 51.5% have never participated in Pap Smear screening. Among those who have participated in the Pap Smear screening, 10.9% had regular screening, while 37.6% had irregular screening. Pap smear screening behavior was significantly different according to the experiences in health checkup ($x^2$=34.009, p<.001)', whether or not there was a hospital the woman regularly visited ($x^2$=7.768, p=.021) and perceived barriers (F=3.214, p=.043). Conclusion: For improvement of Pap smear participation, this study proposes to develop various nursing intervention programs which can improve perceived barriers in regards to the related variables. In addition, it is necessary to come up with a strategy to advertise the participation in Pap smear screening in a systematic and continuous manner in order to raise womens' awareness and to make married immigrant women realize the importance of regular Pap smear screenings.

  • Even though many Korean consumers have bought environment-friendly fruits, including grapes and mandarins, farmers and suppliers still have little information about how they make a decision for the actual purchase in the real markets. Without the suitable information of purchase behavior of environment-friendly fruits, farmers and suppliers cannot set up the efficient marketing strategy which can create the better agricultural products for Korean consumers. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the consumers' purchase behavior of environment-friendly fruits in Korea. Especially, this study was focused on the grapes and mandarins, through the survey research and the frequency analysis. The results of study in this paper present a few findings useful as follows: First, Korean consumers have the strong concern of environment-friendly agricultural products, including fruits. Second, consumers usually buy environment-friendly fruits by two times per month. Third, consumers generally concern taste, freshness, and food-safety, when they buy environment-friendly grape or mandarin.

  • Acoustic behavior in gas turbine combustor with acoustic resonator is investigated numerically by adopting linear acoustic analysis. Helmholtz-type resonator is employed as acoustic resonator to suppress acoustic instability passively. The tuning frequency of acoustic resonator is adjusted by varying its length. Through harmonic analysis, acoustic-pressure responses of chamber to acoustic excitation are obtained and the resonant acoustic modes are identified. Acoustic damping effect of acoustic resonator is quantified by damping factor. As the tuning frequency of acoustic resonator approaches the target frequency of the resonant mode to be suppressed, mode split from the original resonant mode to lower and upper modes appears and thereby complex patterns of acoustic responses show up. Considering mode split and damping effect as a function of tuning frequency, it is desirable to make acoustic resonator tuned to broad-band frequencies near the maximum frequency of those of the possible upper modes.
