A brief review of previous studies on the behaviour of concrete at extremely low temperature is presented in this paper. In addition, to describe temperature dependent behaviour of concrete, simple piecewise linear stress-strain relation is introduced. The proposed curve shows good agreement with experimental stress-strain curves at various temperature conditions. Moreover, numerical analyses for two PC beams are conducted to verify the influence of extremely low temperature to the structural behaviour.
The sudden drop of water temperature in winter is very threatening factor that affects the productivity of farmed fish and the management in aquafarm. In this study, we investigated the effect of low temperature on the survival, oxygen consumption and stress responses of parrotfish Oplegnathus fasciatus due to acute drop of water temperature. The survival rate of parrotfish Oplegnathus fasciatus was 5% at 6℃, 95% at 8℃ and 100% at 10℃ on the 4th day of exposure in each experimental temperature. Low-lethal temperature for 4days of parrotfish Oplegnathus fasciatus (4 day-LT50) was 6.99℃ (confidence limit, 6.55-7.42℃). Oxygen consumption rate was significantly decreased with decreasing water temperature. Temperature coefficient (Q10) was found to be 4.0 between 10℃ and 8℃ and 0.39 between 8℃ and 6℃. As a result of investigating the stress response according to the drop in water temperature, the concentration of SOD (Superoxide dismutase), cortisol, glucose, total Ig, AST (Aspartate) and ALT (Alanine aminotransferase) increased with decreasing of water temperature. This study would be useful for the management of temperature about cultured fish.
The response of water stree under high and low temperatures, was shown differently according to the longer the suspension period of water supply. Leaf photosynthetic rate(LPS), leaf water potential(WP), relative leaf water content and relative soil water content were lower. At the higher temperatures, the percentate of reduction in LPS and WP was greater than at low temperatures. It is suggested that evaporation rate should be higher in the high temperature than the lower temperature. Also leaf water potential was lower at high temperature than at low temperature. After the 9 th day of treatment , LSP was remarkably reduced at high temperature, but the reduction of LPS was not significant at low temperature. Solidago virga-aurea var. asiatic that maintained LPS of 3rd day after treatment was more strong than other varieties at low temperatures. The silting and curling of leaves were observed symptoms of stress on the 9th day at the both temperatures. The leaves of aster scaber and Ligularia fischeri turned red on the 9th day after treatment at low temperature.
Nickel electrodeposition from sulfamate bath has several benefits such as low internal stress, high current density and good ductility. In nickel deposited layers, sulfur induces high temperature embrittlement, as Ni-S compound has a low melting temperature. To overcome high temperature embrittlement problem, adding manganese is one of the good methods. Manganese makes Mn-S compound having a high melting temperature above $1500^{\circ}C$. In this work, the mechanical properties of Ni-Mn deposited layers were investigated by using various process variables such as concentration of Mn$(NH_2SO_3)_2$, current density, and bath temperature. As the Mn content of electrodeposited layers was increased, internal stress and hardness were increased. By increasing current density, internal stress increased, but hardness decreased. With increasing the bath temperature from 55 to $70^{\circ}C$, internal stress of Ni deposit layers decreased, but hardness didn't change by bath temperature. It was likely that eutectoid manganese led to lattice deformation, and the lattice deformation increased hardness and internal stress in Ni-Mn layers. Increasing current density and decreasing bath temperature would increase a mount of $H_2$ absorption, which was a cause for the rise of internal stress.
The fatigue crack growth behavior of the cold-rolled STS 304 steel developed for membrane material of LNG storage tank was examined experimentally at 293K, 153K and 111K. The fatigue crack growth rate(do/dN) tends to increase as the stress ratio (R) increases over the testing temperature when compared at the same stress intensity factor range($\Delta$K). The effect of R on do/dN is more explicit at low temperatures than at room temperature. The resistance of fatigue crack growth at low temperatures is higher compared with that at room temperature which is attributed to the extent of strain-induced martensitic transformation at the crack tip. The temperature dependence of fatigue crack growth resistance is gradually vanished with an increase in $\Delta$K which correlates with a decreasing fracture toughness with decreasing temperature. Fractographic examinations reveal that the differences of the fatigue crack growth characteristics between room and low temperature are mainly explained by the crack closure and the strengthening due to the martensitic transformation.
The effect of dynamic strain aging on high temperature deformation behaviour of the A-Mg alloy was investigated by strain rate change tests and stress relaxation tests between 20$0^{\circ}C$and 50$0^{\circ}C$. Yield point, short stress transient and periodic discontinuities on the stress-strain curve were considered as an evidence of the effect of dynamic strain aging. With this criterion two distinct strain rate-temperature regimes could be manifested. Dynamic strain aging was considered to be effective in the high temperature-low strain rate regime, whereas dynamic recovery was a dominant deformation mechanism in the low temperature-high strain rate regime. It was found that dynamic strain aging in the high temperature deformation was governed by the mechcanism of diffusion-controlled, viscous dislocation movement.

This study was planned to identify the effect of low-temperature stress on Alcohol dehydrogenase(ADH) isozyme in sixteen varieties of Italian ryegrass using starch gel electrophoresis. The specific electrophoretic zymograms of each variety were observed by ADH isozyme. The results were summarized as follows: 1. All tested varieties displayed two band zone by ADH and R.f values were 0.63 and 0.60, respectively. 2. There were four band type for ADH isozyme of 16 varieties classified with ADH isozyme dyeing intensity. According to dyeing intensity 7, 2, 1 and 6 varieties belong to banding type I,II,III and IV, respectively(Fig.2-A, B). 3. The effect of short tern low-temperature stress induces ADH gene expresson in Italian ryegrass, which may reflect a fundmental shift in energy metabolism to ensure plant tissue survival during the low-temperature stress period.

9-12% Cr steels have been used in thermal power plants which repeat start and stop operations. Major factors of fatigue life are temperature, frequency, stress ratio, holding time, microstructure, and environment. Normally, fatigue life decreases at high temperature, low frequency, high stress ratio, and long holding time conditions. A Mod.9Cr-1Mo steel, called G91, was developed at ORNL (Oak Ridge National Laboratory, USA) and was adopted as a high-temperature structural material in the ASME Code in 2004. However, its low-cycle fatigue and fatigue crack growth characteristics have been rarely studied. In this work, we have investigated the low-cycle fatigue crack growth behaviors of G91 steel under various test conditions in terms of temperature and stress ratio. As temperature and stress ratio increase, the crack growth rate becomes faster and striation distance also increases. On the other hand, the number of branch cracks decreases.

This study made an experiment On fatigue crack propagation da/dn, stress intensity factor range ${\Delta}K$ respectively in room temperature and in low temperature. And we got the following characteristics from fatigue crack growth test carried Out in the environment of room temperature and law temperature at $25^{\circ}C$, $-60^{\circ}C$, $-80^{\circ}C$, and $-100^{\circ}C$ in the range of stress ratio of 0.3 by means of opening made displacement. The threshold stress intensity factor range ${\Delta}Kth$ in the early stage of fatigue crack growth (Mode I) and stress intensity factor range ${\Delta}K$ in the stable of fatigue crack growth (Made II) was decreased in proportion to descend temperature. It assumed that the fatigue resistance characteristics and fracture strength at law temperature and high temperature is considerable higher than that of room temperature in the early stage and stable of fatigue crack growth region.

The fatigue crack growth behavior of the SA516/60 steel used for pressure vessels was examined experimentally at room temperatures $25^{\circ}C$,$-30^{\circ}C$, $-60^{\circ}C$, $-80^{\circ}C$, $-100^{\circ}C$ and $-120^{\circ}C$ with stress ratio of R=0.05, 0.1 and 0.3. fatigue crack propagation rate da/dN related with stress intensity factor range $\Delta$K was influenced by stress ratio in stable than fatigue crack growth (Region II) with an increase in $\Delta$K. The resistance of fatigue crack growth at low temperature is higher compared with that at room temperature, which is attributed to the extent of plasticity-induced by compressive residual stress according to the cyclic loads. Fractographic examinations reveal that the differences of the fatigue crack growth characteristics between room and low temperatures are explained mainly by the crack closure and the strengthening due to the plasticity near the crack tip and roughness of the crack faces induced.
