  • This study aimed to examine whether heat curing methods of concrete subjected to $-10^{\circ}C$ could be effective by varying the combination of heating cable and surface heat insulations. Three different concrete specimens incorporating 30% fly ash with 50% W/B were fabricated to simulate wall, column and slab members with dimensions of $1600{\times}800{\times}200$ mm for slab, $800{\times}600{\times}200$ mm for wall and $800{\times}800{\times}800$ mm for column. For heat curing combinations, Type-1 specimens applied PE film for slab, plywood for wall and column curing. Type-2 specimens applied double layer bubble sheet (2LB) and heating coil for slab, and 50 mm styrofoam for wall and column curing. Type-3 specimen applied 2LB for slab, electrical heating mat for wall and column inside heating enclosure. The test results revealed that the temperature of Type 1 specimen dropped below $0^{\circ}C$ beginning at 48 hours after placement due to its poor heat insulating capability. Type 2 and 3 specimens maintained a temperature of around $5{\sim}10^{\circ}C$ after placement due to favorable heat insulating and thermal resistance.

  • Recently, in order to reduce a damage of chloride attack and hydration heat in marine concrete structures, blended cement in mixing the marine concrete is widely used. Long term strength development is distinct in concrete with blended cement and it also has excellent resistance to chloride attack and reduction of hydration heat. However, blended cement has a characteristic of relatively low compressive strength in early age of 28 days. On the other hand, a high level of compressive strength is required in the Standard Specification for marine concrete mix design. Such concrete mix design satisfying Standard Specification is effective to chloride attack but disadvantageous for hydration heat reduction due to large quantity of binder. In this study, the material properties of marine concrete considering water-binder ratio and binder type are experimentally investigated. Through the research results, compressive strength in blended cement at the age of 56 days is similar although it has smaller compressive strength at the age of 28 days compared with result of OPC (ordinary portland cement). Even though blended cement has a large water-binder ratio and small unit of binder content, chloride ion diffusion coefficient is still small and hydration heat is also found to be reduced. For meeting the required compressive strength in Standard Specification for marine concrete at 28 days, the increased unit content of binder is needed but the increased hydration heat is also expected.

  • As construction technology advances, most of concrete structures are becoming larger and taller. Therefore, high strength and high quality concrete is necessary for them. Nowadays, the proposal of using type IV(belite cement) is investigated to satisfy high flowing, low heat, and ho호 strength. In this study, the flow value and compressive strength of mortar were investigated according to usage of AE high range water reducer. And the slump flow value, falling time and heigth difference of concrete with beilte cement and ordinary cement were examined depending on water cement ratio, sand ratio and unit water weigth, and compressive strength to checked depending on age.

  • This paper presents the history of heat hydration and the core strength of underwater non-segregation concrete. Three types of cements including Type I, Type V and low-heat cement have been used to make the mass specimens for measurement of heat of hydration and also for coring. Two environments of ambient and underwater conditions have been accounted for the comparison of producing the heat of hydration and for the assessment of core strength in respect to the test specimens made under normal practice.

  • This study aims to develop the hydration heat reducing material (powder type) to lower the heat of hydration of mass members in the extremely hot weather condition. In this study, we applied the developed material to the concrete that used two kinds of binders with cement and evaluate the concrete properties with it.

  • A Cement account for the most amount than other materials in the material composition of ultra-high-performance concrete. If we especially consider the effect of high temperature curing on the cement hydration and the problems of autogenous shrinkage, heat of hydration we need selection of proper cement type by grasping influence of cement in the properties of UHPC. Therefore, in this paper we examined properties of fluidity, compressive strength and elastic modulus of UHPC due to domestic portland cement types. In results, we could get a result that the low heat cement increase fluidity, compressive strength in UHPC compare with high early strength cement and ordinary portland cement. we are systematically going to examination on the influence of UHPC by domestic portland cement types.

  • In this study, temperature increase and strength development of concretes with different types of cement were investigated to construct dam drop spillway. For this purpose, boxes of 1${\times}$1${\times}$1m size with 4 different concrete mixtures were made. The types of concrete were Type I cement concrete, fly ash cement concrete and two type concrete with ternary cement, respectively. The temperature at each point were monitored in these boxes. Based on the Box test, hydration analysis of slab of 2.0m thickness was carried out. This paper presents these experimental and analytical results.

  • In the cold-weathering concrete construction, it is important to ensure stable strength development of concrete in a low temperature environment. In this study, Non-curing cement(NCC) using the classified high fineness cement and self-heating powder was investigated for stable strength development without curing in a low temperature environment (less than $0^{\circ}C$). The actual size Mock-Up tests by various cement type and curing condition are performed to evaluate the strength development and hydration heat of concrete.

  • Recently, owing to the development of industry and improvement of building techniques, concrete structures are becoming larger and higher. This study was performed to analyze hydration reation properties of concrete with binders and admixtures, such as OPC, low heat cement, belite rich cement, slag powder, lime powder and fly ash. To investigate effects of PC type superplasticizer on the hydration, experiments involving FT-IR, XRD, DSC, SEM were analyzed at the curing age 1day, 3days and 28days. The hydration reaction rate of OPC concrete slightly delayed at the curing age 1day, blast furnace slag powder and fly ash were more effective. BRC and LHC concretes can be used for concrete structures in winter season.
