Takagi-Sugeno Fuzzy Model-based Iterative Learning Control Systems: A Two-dimensional System Theory Approach

  • This paper introduces a new approach to analysis of error convergence for a class of iterative learning control systems. First, a nonlinear plant is represented using a Takagi-Sugeno(T-S) fuzzy model. Then each iterative learning controller is designed for each linear plant in the T-S fuzzy model. From the view point of two-dimensional(2-D) system theory, we transform the proposed learning systems to a 2-D error equation, which is also established in the form of T-S fuzzy model. We analysis the error convergence in the sense of induced 2 L -norm, where the effects of disturbances and initial conditions on 2-D error are considered.   • Uncertainty study of shear strength characteristics of the marine clays was carried out based ell In-situ tests and laboratory tests on tile south-east coastal region of the Korean peninsula. Theoretical analyses were studied using both tile spherical cavity expansion theory in finite soil mass and the strain path method to determine tile cone factor using the undrained shear strengths obtained by in-situ tests, and the empirical methods in accordance with the ultimate resistance theory were also discussed. Analysis show that the empirical methods suggest more reasonable value than that of theoretical methods in terms of comparing the cone factor estimated using linear regression and frequency distribution analyses. The cone factors obtained by the empirical methods are 18, 15, and 6 respectively, from the results of total cone resistance, effective cone resistance, and excess porewater cone resistance method, and the estimated were similar to those of previous researcher's.

  • In this paper, the intrinsic birefringence and Faraday rotation of the single mode optical fiber have been investigated. On the analysis, the optical fiber has been modeled as a linear retarder and the intrinsic linear retardation of the fiber is approximatly found to be 2.57 deg/m from the measurement. Faraday ratation was analyzed as perturbation theory and Jones matrix.

  • In the present manuscript, geometrically nonlinear free vibration analysis of thin laminated plates resting on non-linear elastic foundations is investigated. Winkler-Pasternak type foundation model is used. Governing equations of motions are obtained using the von Karman type nonlinear theory. The method of discrete singular convolution is used to obtain the discretised equations of motion of plates. The effects of plate geometry, boundary conditions, material properties and foundation parameters on nonlinear vibration behavior of plates are presented.

  • Dynamic behavior of laminated composite plates undergoing moderately large deflection is investigated taking into account the viscoelastic behavior of material properties. Based on von Karman's non-linear deformation theory and Boltzmann's superposition principle, non-linear and hereditary type governing equations are derived. Finite element analysis and the method of multiple scales is applied to examine the effect of large amplitude on the dissipative nature of viscoelastic laminated plates.

  • This paper presents the subparametric finite element model formulated by partial-linear layerwise theory for the analysis of laminate composites. The proposed model is based on refined approximations of two dimensional plane for orthotropic thick laminate plate as well as thin case. Three dimensional problem can be reduced to two dimensional case by assuming piecewise linear variation of in-plane displacement and a constant value of out-of-plane displacement across the thickness. The integrals of Legendre polynomials are chosen to define displacement fields and Gauss-Lobatto numerical integration is implemented in order to directly obtain maximum values occurred at the nodal points of each layer without other extrapolation techniques. The validity and characteristics of the proposed model have been tested by using orthotropic multilayered plate problem as compared to the values available in the published references. In this study, the convergence test has been carried out to determine the optimal layer model in terms of central deflection and stresses. Also, the distribution of displacements and stresses across the thickness has been investigated as the number of layer is increased.

  • Determination of force system and prediction of side effects from unbent straight wire engaged in edgewise bracket is clinically very difficult because it is statically indeterminate system. This study is to develop a linear beam theory that explains the force system for straight wire engaged in edgewise bracket regardless of geometry(a/b), material, cross section of wire, and interbracket distance. 1. Formula for force system of bilateral fixed end beam was derived. 2. It is possible to calculate force system of each tooth engaged in continuous straight wire. 3. The possibility and location of permanent deformation can be predicted.

  • Traditional CVP (Cost-Volume-Profit) analysis employs linear cost and revenue functions within some specified time period and range of operations. Therefore CVP analysis is assumption of constant labor productivity. The use of linear cost functions implicity assumes, among other things, that firm's labor force is either a homogenous group or a collection homogenous subgroups in a constant mix, and that total production changes in a linear fashion through appropriate increase or decrease of seemingly interchangeable labor unit. But productivity rates in many firms are known to change with additional manufacturing experience in employee skill. Learning curve is intended to subsume the effects of all these resources of productivity. This learning phenomenon is quantifiable in the form of a learning curve, or manufacturing progress function. The purpose d this study is to show how alternative assumptions regarding a firm's labor force may be utilize by integrating conventional CVP analysis with learning curve theory, Explicit consideration of the effect of learning should substantially enrich CVP analysis and improve its use as a tool for planning and control of industry.

  • Discriminant method using seismic signal was studied for discrimination of surface explosion. By means of the seismic spectral characteristics, multi-variate discriminant analysis was performed. Four single discriminant techniques - Pg/Lg, Lg1/Lg2, Pg1/Pg2, and Rg/Lg - based on seismic source theory were applied to explosion and earthquake training data sets. The Pg/Lg discriminant technique was most effective among the four techniques. Nevertheless, it could not perfectly discriminate the samples of the training data sets. In this study, a compound linear discriminant analysis was defined by using common characteristics of the training data sets for the single discriminants. The compound linear discriminant analysis was used for the single discriminant as an independent variable. From this analysis, all the samples of the training data sets were correctly discriminated, and the probability of misclassification was lowered to 0.7%.

A Study of Three Dimensional Numerical Analysis on Vacuum Consolidation

  • A governing equation of uncoupled three dimensional finite strain theory of consolidation is presented. This equation is suitable for relatively thick layers, possessing large strain, non-linear material property, and variable permeability. A special numerical solution procedure has to be adopted for the finite difference scheme because the solution is not stable in using Forward-Time Centered-Space (FTCS) method and the governing equation is highly non-linear. The solution is capable of predicting settlement with respect to time. The results predicted by the developed method of analysis have been compared with those of experimental tests on different types of highly compressible soils with vertical wick drain. The uncoupled three dimensional finite strain theory of consolidation appears to predict settlement behavior well. A detailed comparison shows good agreement in terms of total settlement, and reasonable agreement with respect to time.
