  • This paper presents a method of hierarchical state estimation of the time-varying linear systems via Block-pulse function(BPF). When we estimate the state of the systems where noise is considered, it is very difficult to obtain the solutions because minimum error variance matrix having a form of matrix nonlinear differential equations is included in the filter gain calculation. Therefore, hierarchical approach is adapted to transpose matrix nonlinear differential equations to a sum of low order state space equation from and Block-pulse functions are used for solving each low order state space equation in the form of simple and recursive algebraic equation. We believe that presented methods are very attractive nd proper for state estimation of time-varying linear systems on account of its simplicity and computational convenience. • This paper aims to support delay-sensitive multimedia applications by suggesting a mechanism in which maintains almost constant end-to-end delay thus providing the optimum playout synchronization. For this task the sum of network delay and buffering delay is entiredly managed and to eliminate little delay fluctuations and instantaneous delays at a buffer and a network, a low pass filter is used. Furthermore the correction function, which is used for maintaining the buffering level ot a reference value, is a non-linear step function, unlike the existing linear and continuous function. it has a different step sizes adapting to a traffic characteristics of a network congestion. the proposed mechanism has been confirmed of it sefficiency through SLAM-II netowrk.

  • In this paper we present a new family of identities for parametric Euler sums which generalize a result of David Borwein et al. [2]. We then apply it to obtain a family of identities relating quadratic and cubic sums to linear sums and zeta values. Furthermore, we also evaluate several other series involving harmonic numbers and alternating harmonic numbers, and give explicit formulas.

  • A combined optimal design problem of structural and control systems is discussed by taking a 3-D flexible structure as an object. We consider a minimum weight design problem for structural system and disturbance suppression problem for the control system. The conditions for the existence of controller are expressed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMI). By minimizing the linear sum of the normalized structural objective function and control objective function, it is possible to make optimal design by which the balance of the structural weight and the control performance is taken. We showed in this paper the validity of combined optimal design of structural and control systems.

  • During the last decade, several papers have focused on linear q-difference equations of the form ${\sum}^n_{j=0}a_j(z)f(q^jz)=a_{n+1}(z)$ with entire or meromorphic coefficients. A tool for studying these equations is a q-difference analogue of the lemma on the logarithmic derivative, valid for meromorphic functions of finite logarithmic order ${\rho}_{log}$. It is shown, under certain assumptions, that ${\rho}_{log}(f)$ = max${{\rho}_{log}(a_j)}$ + 1. Moreover, it is illustrated that a q-Casorati determinant plays a similar role in the theory of linear q-difference equations as a Wronskian determinant in the theory of linear differential equations. As a consequence of the main results, it follows that the q-gamma function and the q-exponential functions all have logarithmic order two.

  • In this paper, we address a layout design problem for determining an optimal 4-class-based dedicated linear storage layout in a class of unit load storage systems. Assuming that space requirement for a class is the sum of the maximum inventory levels of products assigned to the class, and that one-way travel time is a linear function of storage index, we formulate a 4-class-based dedicated linear storage problem PTL[4] and provide an exact splitting algorithm with $O(n{\lceil}logn{\rceil})$. Our algorithms could be applied to more than a 4-class-based dedicated storage layout problem with slight modification in order to reduce computational execution time.

  • In the two-condition within-subject mediation design, pairs of variables such as mediator and outcome are observed under two treatment conditions. The main objective of the design is to investigate the indirect effects of the condition difference (sum) on the outcome difference (sum) through the mediator difference (sum) for comparison of two treatment conditions. The natural condition variables mean the original variables, while the rotated condition variables mean the difference and the sum of two natural variables. The outcome difference (sum) is expressed as a linear model regressed on two natural (rotated) mediators as a parallel two-mediator design in two condition approaches: the natural condition approach uses regressors as the natural condition variables, while the rotated condition approach uses regressors as the rotated condition variables. In each condition approach, the total indirect effect on the outcome difference (sum) can be expressed as the sum of two individual indirect effects: within- and cross-condition indirect effects. The total indirect effects on the outcome difference (sum) for both condition approaches are the same. The invariance of the total indirect effect makes it possible to analyze the nature of two pairs of individual indirect effects induced from the natural conditions and the rotated conditions. The two-condition within-subject design is extended to the addition of a between-subject moderator. Probing of the conditional indirect effects given the moderator values is implemented by plotting the bootstrap confidence intervals of indirect effects against the moderator values. The expected indirect effect with respect to the moderator is derived to provide the overall effect of moderator on the indirect effect. The model coefficients are estimated by the structural equation modeling approach and their statistical significance is tested using the bias-corrected bootstrap confidence intervals. All procedures are evaluated using function lavaan() of package {lavaan} in R.

  • In this paper, a discrete-time variable structure control method using recursively defined switching function and a decoupled variable structure disturbance compensator is used to achieve high performance circular motion control of a CNC machining center. The discrete-time variable structure control with the decoupled disturbance compensator method developed in this paper uses a recursive switching function defined as the sum of the current tracking error vector and the previous value of the switching function multiplied by a positive constant less than one. This recursive switching function provides much improved performance compared to the method that uses a switching function defined only as a linear combination of the current tracking error. Enhancements in tracking performance are demonstrated in the circular motion control using a CNC milling machine.

  • This paper presents a contribution to parameter identification of a non-linear system using a new strategy to improve the genetic algorithm (GA) method. Since cost function plays an important role in GA-based parameter identification, we propose to improve the simple version of GA, where weights of the cost function are not taken as constant values, but varying along the procedure of parameter identification. This modified version of GA is applied to the induction motor (IM) as an example of nonlinear system. The GA cost function is the weighted sum of stator current and rotor speed errors between the plant and the model of induction motor. Simulation results show that the identification method based on improved GA is feasible and gives high precision.
