고장력강(HT50) 레이저용접부의 용접잔류응력 및 파괴인성 특성 (The Welding Residual Stress and Fracture Toughness Characteristics of HT50 Laser Welded Joint)

  • Recently, many industries have been employing the application of laser beam welding, due to the resulting high welding quality, such as smaller width of melting and heat affective zone, smaller welding deformation, and fine grains of weldment, compared to arc welding. However, in order to appropriately utilize this welding process with steel structure, the characteristics of welding residual stresses and fracture toughness in welded joints are to be investigated for reliability. Therefore, in this study, the mechanical properties of weldments by arc and laser welding are investigated using FEM to confirm the weldability of laser welding to the general structural steel (HT50). The Charpy impact test and 3-points bending CTOD test are carried out in the range of temperatures between $-60^{\circ}C\;and\;20^{\circ}C$, in order to understand the effect on the fracture toughness of weldments. From the research results, it has been found that the maximum residual stress appears at the center of plate thickness, and that the fracture toughness is influenced by strength mis-match.

반도체레이저 단면여기 Nd:S-VAP 레이저의 내부공진기 제2고조파 출력 특성 (Output characteristics of intracavity frequency doubling of laser-diode end-pumped Nd:S-VAP laser)

  • 반도체레이저로 단면 여기시킨 Nd:VAP 레이저의 내부공진기 제2고조파 출력특성을 조사하였다. 유도방출 단면적과 형광수명의 곱이 커 낮은 발진문턱 특성을 갖는 Nd:S-VAP 매질은 컴팩트한 마이크로칩 레이저에 적합하다. 내부공진기를 이용한 제2고조파 발진문턱에너지가 81 uJ로 측정되어 쉽게 발진됨을 확인하였다. 여기에너지 $2\mu\textrm{J}$에서 제2고조파 에너지 $126\mu\textrm{J}$을 얻었고, 내부공진기 제2고조파의 출력을 계산하여 이론적인 해석 근거를 제시하였다. Q-스위치된 제2고조파 출력은 펄스폭 26ns에 펄스당 에너지 $15\mu\textrm{J}$로 저출력에서도 시.공간적으로 깨끗한 펄스를 얻었으며, $M^2$도 1.47로 우수한 빔 특성을 나타내었다.

레이저 홀로그래피 방법과 반응성 이온식각 방법을 이용한 InP/InGaAsP 광자 결정 구조 제작 (Nanofabrication of InP/InGaAsP 2D photonic crystals using maskless laser holographic method)

  • 레이저 홀로그래피 방법과 반응성 이온식각 방법(RIE: reactive ion etching)을 사용하여 2차원 광자결정을 제작하였다. 육변형(hexagonal) 및 사변형(square) 광자결정 격자는 첫 번째 레이저 노광 후 시편을 각각 60도 및 90도 회전하고 다시 두 번째 노광을 통하여 제작할 수 있었다. 또한 사변형 광자결정 격자의 나노컬럼(nanocolumn)의 크기와 주기는 레이저 입사각에 따라 각각 125∼145 nm, 220∼290 nm로 미세한 조정이 가능하였다. 마지막으로 CH$_4$/H$_2$ 가스를 이용한 반응성 이온식각 방법을 통하여 aspect ratio가 1.5 이상인 InP/InGaAsP nanocolumn을 제작 할 수 있었다.

Efficient excitation and amplification of the surface plasmons

  • One dimensional (1D) grating has been fabricated (using focused ion beam) on 50 nm gold (Au) film deposited on higher refractive index Gallium phosphate (GaP) substrate. The sub-wavelength periodic metal nano structuring enable to couple photon to couple with the surface plasmons (SPs) excited by them. These grating devices provide the efficient control on the SPs which propagate on the interface of noble metal and dielectric whose frequency is dependent on the bulk electron plasma frequency of the metal. For a fixed periodicity (${\Lambda}=700 nm$) and slit width (w = 100 nm) in the grating device, the efficiency of SPP excitation is about 40% compared to the transmission in the near-field. Efficient coupling of SPs with photon in dielectric provide field localisation on sub-wavelength scale which is needed in Heat Assisted Magnetic recording (HAMR) systems. The GaP is also used to emulate Vertical Cavity Surface emitting laser (VCSEL) in order to provide cheaper alternative of light source being used in HAMR technology. In order to understand the underlying physics, far-and near-field results has been compared with the modelling results which are obtained using COMSOL RF module. Apart from this, grating devices of smaller periodicity (${\Lambda}=280nm$) and slit width (w = 22 nm) has been fabricated on GaP substrate which is photoluminescence material to observe amplified spontaneous emission of the SPs at wavelength of 805 nm when the grating device was excited with 532 nm laser light. This observation is unique and can have direct application in light emitting diodes (LEDs).

Nd:YAG Laser 직접 각인을 이용한 Carbon 스트레인 센서 (Carbon strain sensor using Nd: YAG laser Direct Writing)

  • Nd:YAG Laser를 이용하여 polyimide film에 탄화(carbonization)를 진행하여 Carbon을 생성하여 저가의 센서를 간단한 제조과정으로 만들었다. 이를 통하여 유연한 저가형 압저항 센서의 특성에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 기존에 많은 연구들이 Polyimide에 $10.6{\mu}m$의 파장을 가지는 $CO_2$ laser를 이용하여 carbonization을 하여 센서를 제작하였다. 본 논문에서는 polyimide film에 $1.064{\mu}m$의 파장을 가지는Nd:YAG laser를 이용하여 carbonization(탄화공정)을 진행하였다. 또한 Nd:YAG laser를 사용하여 polyimide film위에 직접 탄화시키며 carbon을 생성하는 최적의 전력밀도($W/cm^2$)과 속도(scan rate) 조건 조합을 찾아 해상도를 높였다. $CO_2$ laser를 사용하였던 기존의 선행연구에서는 carbon생성의 최소 선폭이 $140{\sim}220{\mu}m$의 길이를 가졌지만, 본 연구에서는 카본의 생성되는 선폭이 $35{\sim}40{\mu}m$으로 축소시켰다. 이번 연구에서 제작된 센서의 초기 면저항은 $100{\sim}300{\Omega}/{\square}$ 이였다. 곡률 반경 21 R 로 인장을 하였을 때 저항이 30% 줄어들었고, 이를 통하여 계산된 게이지 팩터는 56.6이였다. 본 연구는 압저항 센서를 제조하기 위한 단순하고, 매우 유연하고 저렴한 공정을 제공한다.

컴퓨터수치제어(CNC) 플라즈마 아아크 절단장치 개발에 관한 연구 (A study on development of plasma-arc cutting system with computer-numerical control)

  • Plasma arc cutting is a fusion cutting process in which a gas-constricted arc is employed to produce a high-temperature, high-velocity plasma jet on the workpiece. This process provides some advantages such as increased cutting velocity, excellent working accuracy and the ability to cut special materials (widely used stainless steels and Al-alloys, for example), when compared with iconventional oxyfuel gas cutting. From the view point of price and reliability of the power source, plasma arc cutting has also some distinct advantages over laser beam cutting. High-speed machines with NC or CNC systems are needed for the plasma arc or laser beam cutting process, while for oxyfuel gas cutting, low-speed machines with copying templates or optical-shape tracking sensors can be applied. The low price and high flexibility of the microprocessor arc contributing more and more the application of CNC system in the plasma arc cutting process, as in other manufacturing fields. From these points of view, a microprocessor-based plasma arc cutting system was developed by using a reference-pulse system, and its performance was tested. The interpolating routines were programmed in the assembly language for saving the memory volume and improving the compouting speed, which has an intimate relationship with the available cutting velocity.

전해질 용액내의 실리콘 단결정 표면에서 레이저로 유기되는 구리 침착 (Continuous and Pulsed Laser Induced Copper Deposition on Silicon(Si) from Liquid Electrolyte)

  • 마스크를 사용하지 않고 레이저 $(CW Ar^+$ laser, $\lambda=514.5nm)$ 광속을 이용하여 불산 용액이 첨가된 황산구리 전해질 용액내의 실리콘(Si, 100) 단결정 표면에 구리를 침착시켰으며, 이들 사이에서 일어나는 화학 반응식을 도금에서와 같이 양극 반응과 음극 반응으로 구분 하여 제안하였다. 또한 침착 되는 구리점의 직경을 전해질 용액에 첨가되는 불산용액의 양, 레이저 광속의 조사 시간과 관속의 세기에 따라 측정 분석하였다. p형 실리콘 단결정의 경우, 연속형 $Ar^+$ 레이저를 조사하였을때 구리 침착이 일어나고 펄스형 레이저 광속(Nd:YAG 레이저에 KDP결정을 사용하여 얻은 2차 고조파, $\lambda=530nm, $\tau=25nsce$)을 조사하였을 경우에는 침착이 일어나지 않았다. 그와는 반대로 n형 실리콘 단결정의 경우, 연속형 $Ar^+$ 레이저를 조사하였을 때는 구리 침착이 일어나지 않았으나, 펄스형 레이저 광속을 조사시켰을 경우에는 구리 침착이 일어남을 관찰하였다.

Application of time-of-flight near infrared spectroscopy to Satsuma mandarin

  • In this study, a newly constructed optical measurement system, whose main components were a parametric tunable laser and a near infrared photoelectric multiplier, was applied to detection of the information for the inside of Satsuma mandarin using time-of-flight near infrared spectroscopy (TOF-NIRS). The combined effects on the time resolved profile of sample diameter, sugar content, the wavelength of the laser beam, and the detection position of transmitted light were investigated in detail. The samples used were Satsuma mandarin (Citrus unshu $M^{ARC}$.) (location: Wakayama, Japan) having the diameters of 50-84 mm. The sugar content measured by a refractometer varied from 9.9 to 16.3 Brix%. Equator of sample was irradiated vertically with the pulsed laser, and transmitted output power was measured on the restricted position of the equator using the optical fiber cable. The sampling time and the number of averaging the output power were 100 ns and 100 times, respectively. The variation of the attenuance of peak maxima At, the time delay of peak maxima t and the variation of full width at half maximum w were strongly dependent on the detection position and the wavelength of the laser beam. At, t and w increased gradually as the sample diameter increased to be much absorbed and vigorously scattered. On the other hand, each optical parameter had a tendency to increase as the sugar content increased. Such behavior was remarkable when the transmitted light was detected at the side face of a sample. When we apply TOF-NIRS to detection of the information for the inside of fruit with high moisture content like Satsuma mandarin, it is very important to give attention to the difference in the scattered light within tissues and the semi-straightly propagated light. Furthermore, we tried to express the resulting phenomena by using a model samples composed of water, sucrose, and milk. The variation of the time resolved profile is strongly governed by the combination of the light absorption component, scattering medium, and refractive index.

  • 아르곤 이온 레이저를 광원으로 시편을 주기적으로 가열하여 광음향신호를 발생시키고 가속도 센서로 측정하는 2차원 광음향 현미경을 제작하였다. 다양한 결함을 가진 알루미늄 시편을 검사하고 광음향현미경의 특성을 조사하였으며 변조주파수, 레이저광의 단면적 등 실험 조건에 대한 의존성을 조사하여 적절한 실험조건을 확립하였다.
