  • Large distortion is made by toed-in camera configuration in the TV condition that has short viewing distance, when the gaze position of a stereoscopic image coincides with that of real space. Therefore, in the TV condition, we confirmed that the proper camera configuration is the modified parallel configuration, and found distortionless optimal stereoscopic image condition using this camera configuration.

  • In this paper, we focus on a configuration control method of a redundant manipulator. The configuration of a redundant manipulator has been determined by geometry constraints and additional conditions, such as obstacle avoidance and dexterity optimization. This paper also utilizes optimization, and the additional condition (or performance index) to be optimized is stiffness of the end-effector and joints' torque.   • A continuum-based configuration design sensitivity analysis method is developed for kinematically driven mechanical systems. The configuration design variable for mechanical systems is defined. The 3-1-3 Euler angle is employed as the orientation design variable. Kinematic admissibility conditions of configuration design change. Direct differentiation method is used to derive the governing equations of the design sensitivity. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed method.

Local optimization of thruster configuration based on a synthesized positioning capability criterion

  • DPCap analysis can assist in determining the maximum environmental forces the DP system can counteract for a given heading. DPCap analysis results are highly affected by the thrust forces provided by the thrust system which consists of several kinds of thrusters. The thrust forces and moment are determined by the maximum thrust of the thrusters as well as the thruster configuration. In this paper, a novel local optimization of thruster configuration based on a synthesized positioning capability criterion is proposed. The combination of the discrete locations of the thrusters forms the thruster configuration and is the input, and the synthesized positioning capability is the output. The quantified synthesized positioning capability of the corresponding thruster configuration can be generated as the output. The optimal thruster configuration is the one which makes the vessel has the best positioning capability. A software program was developed based on the present study. A local optimization of thruster configuration for a supply vessel was performed to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the program. Even though the program cannot find the global optimal thruster configuration, its high efficiency makes it essentially practical in an engineering point. It may be used as a marine research tool and give guidance to the designer of the thrust system.

  • This study aims to analyze which subsidiary configuration strategy is more effective under uncertainty especially technology base multinational corporations (henceforth MNCs). In previous studies real option theory scholars argue that high breadth subsidiary configuration is most effective strategy because that provides flexibility to MNCs global network. In this study I want unveil more various types of uncertainty such as technology and learning uncertainty which are more important for technology base firm and further more examine the effect of MNCs subsidiary configuration on firm R&D performance each uncertainty case. Empirical study is performed by negative binominal model based on Japanese 108 multinational corporations. The result shows that under technology uncertainty, high breadth subsidiary configuration is better for firm R&D performance but under learning uncertainty high depth subsidiary configuration is better. Thus, the effects of MNCs subsidiary configuration on firm value can differ by types of uncertainty.

  • Some methods have been presented to get optimal formation trajectories in the step of configuration or reconfiguration, which subject to constraints of collision avoidance and final configuration. In this study, a method for optimal formation trajectory-planning is introduced in view of fuel/time minimization using parameter optimization technique which has not been applied to optimal trajectory-planning for satellite formation flying. New constraints of nonlinear equality are derived for final configuration and constraints of nonlinear inequality are used for collision avoidance. The final configuration constraints are that three or more satellites should be placed in an equilateral polygon of the circular horizontal plane orbit. Several examples are given to get optimal trajectories based on the parameter optimization problem which subjects to constraints of collision avoidance and final configuration. They show that the introduced method for trajectory-planning is well suited to trajectory design problems of formation flying missions.

  • In Lagrangian mechanics, attention is directed at the body as it moves through space. The region occupied by the body is called a configuration. All body points are labelled by the position they would have if the body were to occupy a chosen reference configuration. The reference configuration can be regarded as an extra fictional copy where notes are kept. As the body moves and deforms, it is important to correctly observe the use of each configuration for computational purposes. The description of strain is particularly important. The present work establishes clearly the role of each configuration in total and in incremental forms. This work also details the differences between gradient and configurational calculus.

  • I/T 산업의 발전으로 다양한 종류의 디바이스와 시스템 소프트웨어 및 응용프로그램이 일반화되면서 시스템의 복잡도가 높아지는 문제점이 발생하였고 이러한 문제는 시스템 운영관리를 위한 전문지식이 없는 일반 사용자에게는 더욱 치명적이다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해서 Autonomic Computing개념이 연구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 보다 개인화되고 자원제약적인 웨어러블 컴퓨팅 환경에 적합한 Autonomic Personal Computing을 위한 자율관리 서비스 구조를 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 Configuration Manager는 Self-Configuration을 위한 필수 기능만을 Client에 탑재하고, 많은 리소스 소비를 요구하는 기능은 Server의 도움을 받는 구조로 자원제약적인 웨어러블 컴퓨팅환경에서 원활한 Self-Configuration을 제공한다.

  • A library of parametric CAD models should be provided for the reuse of design data in configuration design. Mechanical products have many options and parameters, which in turn, require a large number of CAD models for configuration designs. Existing methods for library construction are limited in their ability to decrease the number of CAD models and ensure independency between the configuration design system and the library. To solve these problems, we propose a method that controls a CAD library based on part-shape information model, and also present its technical details. To verify the proposed method, a CAD library for bicycles was constructed and design modification experiments using a prototype part-shape controller were performed. From the experiments, we found that the proposed method can effectively decrease the required number of CAD models by reusing models for configuration designs.

  • In this paper, we study an Artinian point-configuration quotient having the SLP. We show that an Artinian quotient of points in $\mathbb{p}^n$ has the SLP when the union of two sets of points has a specific Hilbert function. As an application, we prove that an Artinian linear star configuration quotient $R/(I_{\mathbb{X}}+I_{\mathbb{Y}})$ has the SLP if $\mathbb{X}$ and $\mathbb{Y}$ are linear starconfigurations in $\mathbb{p}^2$ of type s and t for $s{\geq}(^t_2)-1$ and $t{\geq}3$. We also show that an Artinian $\mathbb{k}$-configuration quotient $R/(I_{\mathbb{X}}+I_{\mathbb{Y}})$ has the SLP if $\mathbb{X}$ is a $\mathbb{k}$-configuration of type (1, 2) or (1, 2, 3) in $\mathbb{p}^2$, and $\mathbb{X}{\cup}\mathbb{Y}$ is a basic configuration in $\mathbb{p}^2$.
