For this study, inquiry-based learning program was developed for promoting elementary students' scientific justification activities based on their uses of scientific evidences. The program was applied to the 5th grade science class to examine the types of evidences and major features of scientific justification activities. Analysis of the data showed that the evidences used by students were classified into knowledge-based evidence, experience-based evidence and authority-based evidence. As for students' justification features, this study reports three major cases: a case evolving evidence and justification to become more valid and logical, as inquiry activities progressed, other case maintaining less valid and illogical evidence and justification, and final case revealing passive and reluctant participation in the inquiry activities. Overall, students' participation in scientific justification process became more valid and relevant, while there were some students who were unable to make the relevant relations between evidences and claims they made. The educational implications were discussed to consider more effective ways to improve the scientific classroom environment through social knowledge construction.
In this paper, firstly examined various proofs types that cover informal empirical justifications by Balacheff, Miyazaki, and Harel & Sowder and Tall. Using these theoretical frameworks, justification activities by 5th graders were analyzed and several conclusions were drawn as follow: 1) Children in 5th grade could justify using various proofs types and method ranged from external proofs schemes by Harel & Sowder to thought experiment by Balacheff This implies that children in elementary school can justify various mathematical statements of ideas for themselves. To improve children's proving abilities, rich experience for justifying should be provided. 2) Activities that make conjectures from cases then justify should be given to students in order to develop a sense of necessity of formal proof. 3) Children have to understand the meaning and usage of mathematical symbol to advance to formal deductive proofs. 4) New theoretical framework is needed to be established to provide a framework for research on elementary school children's justification activities. Research on proof mainly focused on the type of proof in terms of reasoning and activities involved. But proof types are also influenced by the tasks given. In elementary school, tasks that require physical activities or examples are provided. To develop students'various proof types, tasks that require various justification methods should be provided. 5) Children's justification type were influenced not only by development level but also by the concept they had. 6) Justification activities provide useful situation that assess students'mathematical understanding. 7) Teachers understanding toward role of proof(verification, explanation, communication, discovery, systematization) should be the starting point of proof activities.
In the present study, we analyze four seventh grade students' recognition of geometric properties and the following justification processes while their adopting different construction approaches in GSP(Geometer's Sketchpad). As the students recognized dependency and level-1 invariants by dragging activities, they determined their own construction approaches. Two students, who preferred robust construction, immediately recognized the path of a draggable point and provided step-1 justification. The other students attempted soft construction followed by their recognition of level-2 invariants and the path, and came to step-2 justification.

This study is on the teaching method for the students who belong to the same school (one, the gifted class, passed gifted education of Science High school ), 1-1, face-to-face learning (two, good students in regular classroom) with a teacher, paired learning teams (4 people, gifted classes), and group lessons (20 people, gifted classes) and using the justification analysis framework tool(PIRSO) of Kim(2010) analyzes the justification element of the students in the group classes regular polygons paper was to explore ways to improve the justification of the folding maps activities. As a result, the width of the largest polygon difficulty level appropriate to the class for gifted elementary school classes but the individual learning style of the 1-1 face-to-face with a teacher or discussion with colleagues and cooperative approach is justified, rather than the material of the study of origami activities it turned out to be more effective in improving the level of justification. Unlike the individual learning activities, the exploration for class is the need to strain in parallel to the student is selected as needed, rather than serial manner was confirmed that it is necessary to clearly present problems even from the beginning. Development of teaching through the implications obtained from this method of reconstruction activities and proposed improvement measures for questioning.
Mathematical justification is the process through which one's claim is validated to be true based on proper and trustworthy data. But it serves as a catalyst to facilitate mathematical discussions and communicative interactions among students in mathematics classrooms. This study is designed to investigate the effects of mathematical justification on students' problem-solving and communicative processes occurred in a mathematics classroom. In order to fulfill the purpose of this study, mathematical problem-solving classes were conducted. Mathematical justification processes and communicative interactions recorded in problem understanding activity, individual student inquiry, small and whole group discussions are analyzed. Based on the analysis outcomes, the students who participated in mathematical justification activities are more likely to find out various problem-solving strategies, to develop efficient communicative skills, and to use effective representations. In addition, mathematical justification can be used as an evaluation method to test a student's mathematical understanding as well as a teaching method to help develop constructive social interactions and positive classroom atmosphere among students. The results of this study would contribute to strengthening a body of research studying the importance of teaching students mathematical justification in mathematics classrooms.
The Purpose of this study is to explore he mathematical discovery and justification of six 10th grade students through mathematical modeling activities in spreadsheet environments. The students investigated problem situations with a spreadsheet, which seem to be difficult to solve in paper and pencil environment. In spreadsheet environments, it is easy for students to form a data table and graph by inputting and copying spreadsheet formulas, and to make change specific variable by making a scroll bar. In this study those functions of spreadsheet play an important role in discovery and justification of mathematical rules which underlie in the problem situations. In modeling activities, the students could solve the problem situations and find the mathematical rules by using those functions of spreadsheets. They used two types of trial and error strategies to find the rules. The first type was to insert rows between two adjacent rows and the second was to make scroll bars connecting specific variable and change the variable by moving he scroll bars. The spreadsheet environments also help students to justify their findings deductively and convince them that their findings are true by checking various cases of the Problem situations.

The purpose of this study is to consider the implications of science experiment in class and to seek a direction for its improvement. For this purpose, Science textbooks, teachers' cognitions, and classroom activities have been analyzed to find out how many and what kind of levels of inquiry elements are included in those. In this study, 22 teachers have participated in the questionnaire to investigate their perception about experiment class, and the two instruction cases in two classes of 9th grade have also been analyzed. Results show that most of the textbooks have included questioning, evidence collecting, explanation of phenomena, and connection with existing scientific knowledge. But the elements of communication and justification have been few. Most levels of the inquiry are teacher-led. Although the teachers thought communication and justification are important, their classroom activities does not coalesce with their thoughts. The students mostly spend their time with connecting evidence, they hardly explain the phenomenon based on the proofs as the results of experiment, and the activities of connection with the existing scientific knowledge, and communication and justification.

This paper is to introduce guidelines for standardization and document management. International standards such as ISO/IEC Guide 2, IEC 82045-1, ISO/IEC Guide 72 are considered. This study is to discuss standardization and related activities, and principles and methods for document management, and guidelines for the justification and development of management system standards.
The purpose of this study is to develop conflict management considering justification of planning decision by public involvement (PI) in the context of Korea as an approach to prevent conflicts for railway projects and to achieve consensus building between public and governments. In this study, to evaluate the effectiveness of conflict management in the process of railway planning, we examined the before and after survey on the light rail transit (LRT) planning that was previously conducted. We first conducted estimation on the causal relationships among factors related to acceptance of LRT planning by structural equation model. The estimation results show that conflict management activities and acceptance are positively related. We also discussed as follows: the level of recognition of railway project influences positive effects regardless of conflict management activities, the most important factor with respect to the acceptance is awareness for planning necessity.
The addition and subtraction relationship and the multiplication and division relationship are explicitly dealt with in second and third grade mathematics textbooks. However, these relationships are not discussed anymore in the problem situations and activities in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade mathematics textbooks. In this study, we investigate the calculation principles of subtraction and division in the elementary school mathematics textbooks. Based on our investigation, we justify the addition and subtraction relationship and the multiplication and division relationship at the level of children's understanding so that we discuss some problem situations and activities where the relationships can be applied to subtraction and division. In addition, we suggest educational implications that can be obtained from children's applying the relationships and the properties of equations to subtraction and division.
