Impact of Supervisor's Leadership Styles on Organizational Citizenship Behavior: Mediation Effects of Multi-dimensional Measure of Justice in the Service Industry (상사의 리더십 유형이 조직시민행동에 미치는 영향: 서비스산업에서 다차원적 공정성의 매개효과)

  • As the service industry has been getting increased attention as the core for the national economic growth, in order to promote growth and development of the industry, in-depth research on the workers in the industry has been timely called for. Therefore current study aims to explore the effect of leadership style on organizational citizenship behavior(ie OCB) for increased productivity of workers in the service industry, and the role of multi-dimensional justice in the relationship between them. The findings suggest that transformational and transactional leadership both have positive effect on OCB, implying that application of leadership style that is appropriate to the context may be more important, Also, mediation test of multi-dimensional justice resulted partial mediation effect except for the procedural justice in the relationship between transformational leadership and OCB.

Parents' and Kindergarten Teachers' Evaluation of the Traditional Fairy Tales regarding Distributive Justice (공평성을 다룬 전래동화에 대한 부모와 유아교사의 평가)

  • This study aims to obtain the basic data in order to develop the distributive justice reasoning program for preschooler. To fulfill this aim, this study investigated the parents' and kindergarten teachers' preference in the selection of the traditional fairy tale and the extent to which parents' and kindergarten teachers' evaluation of the traditional fairy tales dealing distributive justice are in agreement with each other. The subjects were 240 parents and 78 kindergarten teachers selected from five cities in Korea. The questionnaire with six Korean traditional fairy tales which deal with the sharing problem among the friends and the families was used. The data were analyzed in SPSS Win 10.0 program, by frequency, percentile, mean, standard deviation, ${\chi}^2$ and t-test. As a result, most important factor in selecting the traditional fairy tale was the title and the editing state of the book for the kindergarten teacher, while it was the good fame of the press for the parent. The congruence existed between parents' and kindergarten teachers' evaluation in knowledge, adaptability for modern times, amusement and empathy in the function of the traditional fairy tales regarding distributive justice. Meanwhile parents evaluated the traditional fairy tales are more adaptive for value formation and useful than teachers did.

Effect of Nurse Practice Environment and Organizational Justice on Job Embeddedness in the Small and Medium Sized Hospital Nurses (지방 중소병원 간호사의 간호업무환경과 조직공정성이 직무배태성에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to examine how nurse practice environment and organizational justice affected job embeddedness in the Small and Medium Sized Hospital Nurses. Methods: The data were collected from 233 nurses by means of self-reported questionnaires on August 23th to September 8th, 2017. Results: The model explained 49.7% of the total variance in job embeddedness scores. Hierarchical regression analysis showed that hospital nurses that had higher perceived nurse practice environment, higher organizational justice, and were older were more likely to have higher job embeddedness scores. Conclusion: To enhance nurses' job embeddedness, hospital and nurse leaders should improve nurse practice environment, particularly in relation to staffing and resource adequacy and collegial nurse-physician relations. Additionally, the nurse leaders can facilitate nurses' job embeddedness by creating and maintaining an organizational culture of fairness and justice.

  • The main purpose of this study was to find antecedents of organizational citizenship behavior(OCB) and to investigate the mediating role of leader-member exchange(LMX). This study categorized the factors that influence OCB and LMX into individual(distributive and procedural justice), group(transformational leadership and team empowerment), and organizational levels(complexity). A total of 773 cases were used in this study, which were collected in one of industrial complexes. The research participants were any employees who participated in their work by collaborating with their co-workers. This study found that procedural justice, transformational leadership, and team empowerment had positive influences on OCB, and distributive justice, procedural justice, transformational leadership, team empowerment, and complexity significantly influenced LMX. Moreover, LMX played a mediating role in the relationship between each of the five input variables and OCB.

A Study on The Effects of R&D Personnel's Job Characteristics at Government-Sponsored Research Institutes on Organizational Commitment : Verification of mediation effect of Organizational Justice (정부출연연구소 연구인력의 직무특성이 조직몰입에 미치는 영향 연구 : 조직공정성 매개효과 검증)

  • The aim of this study lies on verifying the mediation effect of organizational justice in the relationship between R&D personnel's job characteristics and organizational performance within their Government-sponsored research institute. For this, a survey was conducted on 362 R&D personnel members from 25 state-sponsored research institutes under National Research Council of Science & Technology, and then, a multiple regression analysis was used to seek any possible relationship. As a result, job characteristics such as autonomy and feedback were found to have positive (+) influence on organizational commitment. In addition, the result of the mediation effect of organizational justice indicated that the impact was made only by autonomy. This study finds its significance in the fact that it revealed the relationship between job characteristics and job satisfaction among R&D personnel in state-sponsored research institutes who have rarely been the source of objectives in related studies, and that it revealed organizational justice mediated the relationship.

The Effects of Procedural Justice on Organizational Citizenship Behavior in Local Public Enterprises: The Mediating Role of Intrinsic Motivation (지방공기업의 절차적 공정성이 조직시민행동에 미치는 영향: 내재적 동기부여의 매개역할)

  • This study examined the effects of procedural justice on two facets of OCB (OCBI and OCBO) in local public enterprises and the mediating role of intrinsic motivation in these relationships. We verified the hypothesis established by a structural equation model based on PLS. The research data were collected through a survey of 269 employees working for local public enterprises. Research has shown that procedural fairness has a positive effect on intrinsic motivation, organizational citizenship behavior directed at individuals (OCBI), and organizational citizenship behavior directed at the organization (OCBO), while intrinsic motivation has a positive effect on OCBI and OCBO. In addition, intrinsic motivation has been found to have a partial mediating effect in the procedural justice-OCBI relationship and the procedural justice-OCBO relationship respectively. Finally, we present theoretical and practical implications that organizations need to activate intrinsic motivation so that members can induce voluntary organizational civic action through improved procedural fairness.

An Exploratory Study of Fairness Structure in the Context of the Online Shopping (온라인 쇼핑에서 소비자가 지각하는 공정성의 구조에 대한 탐색적 연구)

  • Since fairness issue has been found to be important in many different business contexts such as marketing, organizational psychology and management in general. The purpose of this exploratory study was to identify the factor structure of fairness and its effects on customer satisfaction and word-of-mouth. In this survey, we collected data from the respondents who have experienced online shopping from 61 online shopping companies. The data were analyzed by structural equation model using LISREL 8.5. The results indicated that fairness has a four-factor structure, which is composed of distributive, procedural, interpersonal, and informational fairness, which is different from three-factor structure. In addition, perceived justice as a second-order construct were found to have a positive effect on customer satisfaction and word-of-mouth intention. The study suggests that online shopping mall should increase customer satisfaction and positive word-of-mouth by enhancing multiple aspects related to fairness.

Why Do Health Inequalities Matter? (왜 건강불평등인가?)

  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to introduce the concept of health inequalities, and to discuss the underlying assumptions and ethical backgrounds associated with the issue, as well as the theoretical and practical implications of health inequalities. Methods : Based on a review of the literature, we summarize the concepts of health inequalities and inequities and discuss the underlying assumptions and ethical backgrounds associated with these issues from the view of social justice theory. We then discuss the theoretical and practical implications of health inequalities. Results : Health inequality involves ethical considerations, such as judgments on fairness, and it could provide a sensitive barometer to reflect the fairness of social arrangements. Discussion on health inequalities could deepen our understanding of the social etiology of health and provide a basis for the development of comprehensive and integrative social policies. Conclusions : Health equity is not a social goal in and of itself, but should be considered as a part of a broader effort to seek social justice.

Preschool Children's Conceptions of Illness (취학전 아동의 질병의 원인에 대한 이해)

  • The purpose of this study was to assess preschool children's understanding of contagion and their use of immanent justice explanation for illness and accidents, 124 children (66 four-year-olds and 58 five-year-olds) were interviewed individually by two female interviewers. The data were analyzed by ${\chi}^2$ and correlation. Preliminary analyses revealed no significant sex and age differences: Therefore, the data were collapsed across sex and age for all further analyses. The results showed that preschool children have a concept of contagion as a cause of illness, and they understand the effect of distance between people on the likelihood of transmitting contagious ailments. They overextend the concept of contagion to inappropriate ailments: that is, to noncontagious illnesses and to accidents. They employed immanent justice explanations for all illnesses (contagious and noncontagious) and accidents.The use of immanent justice was inversely related to application of the concept of contagion.
