Effect of Isocyanate Index on the Properties of Rigid Polyurethane Foams Blown by HFC 365mfc

  • Rigid polyurethane foams (RPUFs) were fabricated from crude MDI (CMDI) and polypropylene glycols (PPGs) of various isocyanate indices with a physical blowing agent (HFC 365mfc). There was a tendency for the gel time to decrease and the tack-free time to increase with increasing index value. With increasing index value the foam density and compression strength decreased and the glass transition temperature, dimension stability and thermal insulation increased, while the cell size and closed cell content were virtually unchanged. Allophanate crosslinks and condensation reactions between the isocyanate groups, which are favored with a high index value, exerted significant effects on the properties of RPUFs.

승용차 시트용 폼의 진동전달율 최소화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Minimization of Transmissibility of Seat Foam in Passenger Vehicles)

  • One of the most important factor for the comfort of the passenger vehicles is the minimization of the compressible transmissibility during the running vehicles. Seat foam materials of I2 series(index 95 and the contents of isocyanate TDI was changed in percentages 75, 70, 65, 60, 50, 40) and DI series(density 50kg/$\textrm{m}^3$, index was changed 100, 95, 90) showed the significant differences in their transmissibility depended upon their chemical constitution such as index and contents of isocyanate TDI. The minimum trasmissibility of seat foam materials of I2 series was found from the materials with the contents of 65% isocyanate TDI and the index 95 at the frequency 4.79~5.31Hz. Also the minimum transmissibility of seat foam materials of DI series was found from the materials with the index 90 and the density of 50kg/$\textrm{m}^3$ at the frequency of 4.79~5.31Hz.

Effect of NCO Index on the Particle Size of Polycarbonate Diol-based Polyurethane Dispersion

  • The effect of the isocyanate index (NCO index) on the particle size and particle size distribution of a waterborne polyurethane dispersion (WPUD) with polycarbonate-diol was determined. The WPUDs were prepared using a conventional acetone process with polycarbonate-polyol (Mn = 2028), 4,4'-methylenebis(cyclohexyl isocyanate) (H12MDI), 2,2-bis(hydroxymethyl) propionic acid (DMPA), and dibutyltin dilaurate catalyst. At NCO index values below 1.5, the number average particle diameter of the WPUDs significantly increased with the NCO index, whereas the particle diameter slightly varied at higher NCO indexes. The dependency of the WPUD viscosity on the NCO index exhibited similar behavior to that of the particle size. The relative values of the full width at half maximum of the WPUD particle distribution curves at various NCO indexes were not influenced by the NCO index.

해수에서 이소시아네이트 인덱스 변화가 경질폴리우레탄 폼의 물성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Isocyanate Index on the Physical Properties of Rigid Polyurethane Foam under Sea Water)

  • 해수 하에서 경시변화에 따른 경질 폴리우레탄 폼의 물성변화를 알아보기 위해 이소시아네이트 인덱스를 변화시키며 경질 폴리우레탄 폼(PUF)을 합성하였다. 해수 하에서 이소시아네이트의 인덱스가 90, 100, 130, 150으로 증가함에 따라 PUF의 인장강도는 각각 10%, 3%, 7%, 4%씩 감소하였고, 압축강도는 각각 7%, 6%, 5%, 4%씩 감소하였다. PUF의 물성저하를 규명하기 위해 PUF의 기공을 확인한 결과 기공의 변화는 없었다. 해수 하에서 PUF의 유리전이온도($T_g$), 인장 모듈러스는 증가하였는데 적외선 스펙트럼 분석결과 우레아, 알로파네이트, 바이우렛이 증가하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 해수 하에서 PUF는 가교도 증가하고 이로 인해 폼이 brittle하게 형성되어 $T_g$의 증가에도 불구하고 기계적 물성이 저하된 것으로 사료된다. 해수 하에서 PUF의 물성변화를 고찰하기 위해 만능시험기, 시차 주사 열량계, 주사 전자 현미경, 적외선 분광계를 이용하였다.

Change of Physical Properties of Hydrogel Lens Polymer Containing Isocyanate Group with Ag Nanoparticle

  • A study that copolymerized Ag nanoparticle and furfuryl isocyanate with the crosslinking agent EGDMA (ethylene glycol dimethacrylate), HEMA (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate), MMA (methyl methacrylate), MA (methacrylic acid) and the initiating agent AIBN (azobisisobutyronitrile) is presented. Measurement of the physical characteristics of the produced macromolecule showed that the water content is 32.08~32.67%, refractive index 1.446~1.448, visible light transparency 83.2~67.6%, contact angle $68.2{\sim}83.5^{\circ}$ and tensile strength 0.541~0.755 kgf. It is also demonstrated that the addition of Ag nanoparticles is associated with the reduction of UV-B transmittance and increase in tensile strength. The results show that the produced copolymer can be used as a material for ophthalmic lenses with durability and UV-blocking properties.

Polymerization and Optical Properties of Polymers with High Tensile Strength Added Isocyanate Group

  • Polyurethane resin containing isocyanate is marked by excellent tensile and mechanical strengths and this test aims to gauge its applicability as a medical high polymer. Tris [2-(acryloyloxy)ethyl]isocyanurate and hexamethylenediisocyanate were added to a basic mixing ratio of HEMA (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate), MMA (methyl methacrylate), NVP (n-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) and crosslink agent, EGDMA (ethylene glycol dimethacrylate) with increasing proportions and copolymerized respectively. Also, the basic physical properties of the polymerized high polymers including refraction rate, tensile strength, light transmission and water content were measured to confirm that they are appropriate as hydrogelcontact lenses. After measuring the physical properties of high performance polymers produced by adding tris [2-(acryloyloxy) ethyl]isocyanurate, it was found that the average tensile strengths of sample TRIS1 to TRIS10 were between 0.285 and 0.612 kgf, while the average values of refractive index were ranged from 1.441 to 1.449 with water content from 30.00 to 37.35%.The measurement of physical properties of the copolymers generated by adding hexamethylenediisocyanate showed that the average tensile strength of sample HEXA1 to HEXA10 ranged from 0.267 to 1.742 kgf, the refractive index ranged from 1.443 to 1.475 and water contents were in the range of 21.22 to 35.58%. In all combinations the transmission rates satisfied the transmittance of general hydrogel contact lenses. From theresults, it is possible to conclude that the produced copolymers can be used as contact lens materials with excellent tensile strength.

  • Semi-Rigid 폴리우레탄 foam의 한 종류인 PIR(Polyisocyanurate) foam은 당량적으로 과량의 MDI가 투입되어 생성된 Isocyanate Trimer(Isocyanurate)가 높은 Char Formation을 형성, 우수한 난연특성, 낮은 SMOKE INDEX, 높은 OXYGEN INDEX를 나타낸다. 국내엔 1988년 단열재용 폴리우레탄 foam으로는 최초로 미국의 UL Mark를 획득하여 건설, 건축등 관련업계에서 요구하는 난연특성 및 단열제로서의 제반요건에 부응하며 꾸준히 연구 개발되어 왔다.(중략)

이소시아네이트 경화제 종류에 따른 PU 난연도료의 도막물성 및 난연효과 (Effect of Isocyanate Curing Agents on the Physical Properties and Flame Retardancy of Flame-Retardant PU Coatings)

  • PU type flame-retardant coatings (TBAO/L-75, TBAOL ; TBAO/N-100, TBAON) were prepared by blending bromine-containing modified polyester (TBAO) which was synthesized in our earlier work. with two kinds of isocyanate curing agents, Desmodur L-75 and Desmodur N-100. Physical properties of the prepared flame-retardant coatings were tested. TBAOL shows better hardness than TBAON, while TBAON shows better viscosity, accelerated weathering resistance, yellowness index and lightness index difference than TBAOL. There were no remarkable differences in fineness of grind, $60^{\circ}$ specular gloss, cross-hatch adhesion, and abrasion resistance of TBAOL and TBAON. There was no discernable difference in flame-retardancy between the two flame-retardant coatings, TBAOL and TBAON. When the content of tribromo acetic acid, which is flame-retarding component, was 30wt% the LOI value was in a range of $29{\sim}30%$, which indicates that the two coatings are good flame-retardant coatings.

Study on the Novel Materials Containing Nanoparticles and Isocyanate Group for Strength Improvement of Hydrogel Ophthalmic Lens

  • This study was planned to prepare the high strength hydrogel ophthalmic lens containing isocyanate group and nanoparticles. HDI with carbon nanoparticles were used as additives for the basic combination of HEMA, MA and MMA, and the materials were copolymerized with EGDMA as the cross-linking agent and AIBN as the initiator. The mixture was heated at $100^{\circ}C$ for an hour to produce the high performance hydrogel ophthalmic lens by cast mold method. Measurement of the physical characteristics of the produced material showed that the refractive index was in the range of 1.4027~1.4600, water content 25.21~44.01%, contact angle $54.18{\sim}72.94^{\circ}$, visible light transmittance 53.03~92.09%, and tensile strength 0.1024~0.2359 kgf and breaking strength was 0.0872~0.2825 kgf. The results showed an increase of refractive index while the decrease in water content. And also, the breaking strength was highest when the addition ratio of HDI was 5%(wt). As a result of the absorbance measurement, no significant difference was observed in all the samples, so it can be judged that the stabilization of nanoparticles in the polymer was maintained.

  • 전보에서 합성한 디클로로-폴리에스테르 폴리올(DCBAO)에 2종류의 이소시아네이트 경화제인 Desmodur N-3300과 Desmodur L-75를 선택하여 상온경화시켜 PU계 난연도료 (DCBAO/N-3300=DCBAN 및 DCBAO/L-75=DCBAL)를 각각 제조하였다. 제조된 DCBA과 DCBAL 도료로서 도막물성을 측정한 결과, 양쪽 모두의 도료가 난연처리 후에도 물성저하 현상을 초래하지 않았으며, 별도의 황변성 시험에서 황변성은 DCBAL 쪽이 다소 불량하게 나타나 Desmodur L-75가 황변성과 관련이 있음을 알았다. 또한 난연성분인 2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid의 함량 20∼30 wt%에서 LOI 값 25∼26% 선의 난연효과를 보여주었다.
