This paper describes a structured overlay network scheme based on multiple different time intervals. Many types of data (e.g., sensor data) can be requested at specific time intervals that depend on the user and the system. These queries are referred to as "interval queries." A method for constructing an overlay network that efficiently processes interval queries based on multiple different time intervals is proposed herein. The proposed method assumes a ring topology and assigns nodes to a keyspace based on one-dimensional time information. To reduce the number of forwarded messages for queries, each node constructs shortcut links for each interval that users tend to request. This study confirmed that the proposed method reduces the number of messages needed to process interval queries. The contributions of this study include the clarification of interval queries with specific time intervals; establishment of a structured overlay network scheme based on multiple different time intervals; and experimental verification of the scheme in terms of communication load, delay, and maintenance cost.

In this article, our interest is to estimate the association between consecutive gap times which are subject to interval censoring. Such data are referred as doubly interval censored data (Sun, 2006). In a context of serial event, an induced dependent censoring frequently occurs, resulting in biased estimates. In this study, our goal is to propose a Kendall's 𝜏 based association measure for doubly interval censored data. For adjusting the impact of induced dependent censoring, the inverse probability censoring weighting (IPCW) technique is implemented. Furthermore, a multiple imputation technique is applied to recover unknown failure times owing to interval censoring. Simulation studies demonstrate that the suggested association estimator performs well with moderate sample sizes. The proposed method is applied to a dataset of children's dental records.

Multivariate or clustered failure time data often occur in many medical, epidemiological, and socio-economic studies when survival data are collected from several research centers. If the data are periodically observed as in a longitudinal study, survival times are often subject to various types of interval-censoring, creating multivariate interval-censored data. Then, the event times of interest may be correlated among individuals who come from the same cluster. In this article, we propose a unified linear regression method for analyzing multivariate interval-censored data. We consider a semiparametric multivariate accelerated failure time model as a statistical analysis tool and develop a generalized Buckley-James method to make inferences by imputing interval-censored observations with their conditional mean values. Since the study population consists of several heterogeneous clusters, where the subjects in the same cluster may be related, we propose a generalized estimating equations approach to accommodate potential dependence in clusters. Our simulation results confirm that the proposed estimator is robust to misspecification of working covariance matrix and statistical efficiency can increase when the working covariance structure is close to the truth. The proposed method is applied to the dataset from a diabetic retinopathy study.
Support vector machine (SVM) has been very successful in pattern recognition and function estimation problems for crisp data. This paper proposes a new method to evaluate interval linear and nonlinear regression models combining the possibility and necessity estimation formulation with the principle of SVM. For data sets with crisp inputs and interval outputs, the possibility and necessity models have been recently utilized, which are based on quadratic programming approach giving more diverse spread coefficients than a linear programming one. SVM also uses quadratic programming approach whose another advantage in interval regression analysis is to be able to integrate both the property of central tendency in least squares and the possibilistic property In fuzzy regression. However this is not a computationally expensive way. SVM allows us to perform interval nonlinear regression analysis by constructing an interval linear regression function in a high dimensional feature space. In particular, SVM is a very attractive approach to model nonlinear interval data. The proposed algorithm here is model-free method in the sense that we do not have to assume the underlying model function for interval nonlinear regression model with crisp inputs and interval output. Experimental results are then presented which indicate the performance of this algorithm.
To improve the performance of the prediction system, the system should reflect well the uncertainty of nonlinear data. Thus, this paper presents multiple prediction systems based on Type-2 fuzzy sets. To construct each prediction system, an Interval Type-2 TSK Fuzzy Logic System and difference data were used, because, in general, it has been known that the Type-2 Fuzzy Logic System can deal with the uncertainty of nonlinear data better than the Type-1 Fuzzy Logic System, and the difference data can provide more steady information than that of original data. Also, to improve each rule base of the fuzzy prediction systems, the HCBKA (Hierarchical Correlation Based K-means clustering Algorithm) was applied because it can consider correlationship and statistical characteristics between data at a time. Subsequently, to alleviate complexity of the proposed prediction system, a system selection method was used. Finally, this paper analyzed and compared the performances between the Type-1 prediction system and the Interval Type-2 prediction system using simulations of three typical time series examples.
For gas hydrate exploration, long offset multichannel seismic data acquired using by the 4km streamer length in Ulleung basin of the East Sea. The dataset was processed to define the BSRs (Bottom Simulating Reflectors) and to estimate the amount of gas hydrates. Confirmation of the presence of Bottom Simulating reflectors (BSR) and investigation of its physical properties from seismic section are important for gas hydrate detection. Specially, faster interval velocity overlying slower interval velocity indicates the likely presences of gas hydrate above BSR and free gas underneath BSR. In consequence, estimation of correct interval velocities and analysis of their spatial variations are critical processes for gas hydrate detection using seismic reflection data. Using Dix's equation, Root Mean Square (RMS) velocities can be converted into interval velocities. However, it is not a proper way to investigate interval velocities above and below BSR considering the fact that RMS velocities have poor resolution and correctness and the assumption that interval velocities increase along the depth. Therefore, we incorporated Migration Velocity Analysis (MVA) software produced by Landmark CO. to estimate correct interval velocities in detail. MVA is a process to yield velocities of sediments between layers using Common Mid Point (CMP) gathered seismic data. The CMP gathered data for MVA should be produced after basic processing steps to enhance the signal to noise ratio of the first reflections. Prestack depth migrated section is produced using interval velocities and interval velocities are key parameters governing qualities of prestack depth migration section. Correctness of interval velocities can be examined by the presence of Residual Move Out (RMO) on CMP gathered data. If there is no RMO, peaks of primary reflection events are flat in horizontal direction for all offsets of Common Reflection Point (CRP) gathers and it proves that prestack depth migration is done with correct velocity field. Used method in this study, Tomographic inversion needs two initial input data. One is the dataset obtained from the results of preprocessing by removing multiples and noise and stacked partially. The other is the depth domain velocity model build by smoothing and editing the interval velocity converted from RMS velocity. After the three times iteration of tomography inversion, Optimum interval velocity field can be fixed. The conclusion of this study as follow, the final Interval velocity around the BSR decreased to 1400 m/s from 2500 m/s abruptly. BSR is showed about 200m depth under the seabottom
PR interval variability has been proposed as a noninvasive tool for in-vestigating the autonomic nervous system as welt as heart rate variability. The goal of this paper is to determine whether PR interval variability is generated from deterministic nonlinear dynamics. The data used in this study is a 24-hour bolter ECGs of 20 healthy adults. We developed an automatic PR interval measurement algorithm, and tested it using MIT ECG Databases. The general discriminants of nonlinear dynamics, such as, correlation dimension and phase space reconstruction are used. Surrogate data is generated from simpler linear models to have similar statistical characteristics with the original data. Nonlinear discriminants are applied to both data, and compared for any significant results. It was concluded that PR interval variability shows non-linear characteristics.

A competing risk analysis has been applied when subjects experience more than one type of end points. Geskus (2011) showed three types of estimators of CIF are equivalent under left truncated and right censored data. We extend his approach to an interval censored competing risk data by using a modified risk set and evaluate their performance under several sample sizes. These estimators show very similar results. We also suggest a test statistic combining Sun's test for interval censored data and Gray's test for right censored data. The test sizes and powers are compared under several cases. As a real data application, the suggested method is applied a data where the feasibility of the vaccine to HIV was assessed in the injecting drug uses.
