Operational Effects of Special Roundabouts at Large-Scale Rotaries (대형로터리에서의 특수 회전교차로 운영효과)

  • PURPOSES : The goal of this study is to analyze the operational effects of special roundabouts at large-scale rotaries in Korea. In pursuing the above, this study gives particular attention to comparing standard roundabouts with special roundabouts. METHODS : This study reviews the various types of roundabouts, creates 270 scenarios, builds networks, and comparatively analyzes the operational effects by using VISSIM simulation model and SSAM(Surrogate Safety Assessment Model). RESULTS : First, the operational effects of standard and signalized roundabouts were analyzed, and it was determined that standard roundabouts are the best in the case of under-saturated traffic volume, and signalized roundabouts are the best in the case of over-saturated traffic volume. Second, the operational benefits of a Turbo roundabout were evaluated to be generally lower than the benefits of a standard roundabout, and the benefits of a Turbo roundabout increase when right-turn traffic volume increases. Finally, the safety conflicts of a Turbo roundabout were determined to be the least and decrease when right-turn traffic volume increases. CONCLUSIONS : This study suggests that Turbo roundabouts rank highest for safety, and signalized roundabouts are best for over-saturated traffic volume. This study can be expected to provide some implications for policy decision-making.

  • This writing is for the purpose of investigating the specific character and problem point of China arbitration system which has near 90 years history and overviewing the drift of system improvement which happens recently. The arbitration system of China which traditionally does not acknowledge ad hoc arbitration, unlike most of the other nations that employ The UNCITRAL model law and make it their own legislation, is restrictive to the parties concerned principle of private autonomy considerably. Also the independence of arbitration is delicate, because of a civil characteristic weakness of the arbitral institutions and the intervention of the courts on the arbitration procedure and award. The dual system of domestic and international arbitration which maintains after enforcement of 1994 arbitration law is often to be a primary factor interrupting the development of Chinese arbitration system and making it vulnerable to challenges. The system improvement demand of the recent time reflects this point and makes the arbitration system of China to a international standard rather than now, so it is a desirable direction for China to be as the member of the world economy to be globalization.

Development of Data Model for Design Information Representation of Steel Bridges (강교량 설계정보 표현을 위한 데이터모델 개발)

  • In each industry field, many engineers have tried to develop integrated environments using information technology. The core technology in building integrated environments is the database based on standardized information. To meet the requirements, this study builds a database with detailed design information as a part of integrating digital information generated from every work of steel bridges. The data model used to build the database was developed based on the international standard, namely ISO/STEP. The data model is classified into geometric and non-geometric parts to represent the design information of steel bridges. The geometric parts are represented by a three dimensional solid model so that they may be able to reuse existing information. Also, the non-geometric parts represent information requirements that are analyzed by the development method of standard data model. To verify the data model, this study validates the syntax of the model on EXPRESS Engine and verifies the validation of the model by applying the design data of Hannam bridge to the database.

  • Determination of an ionospheric delay scale factor, which converts ground-based ionospheric delay into low Earth orbit ionospheric delay, using the international reference ionosphere model is proposed. Ionospheric delay from international GNSS service model combined with IRI-derived scale factor is evaluated with NASA GRACE satellite data. At approximately 480km altitude, mean and standard deviation of the scale factor are 0.25 and 0.01 in 2004. The scale factor reaches high in night time and Spring and Fall seasons. Ionospheric delay error by the proposed method has a mean of 3.50 TECU in 2004.

  • GSHP(Ground Source Heat Pump) has been extensively disseminated due to the recent increasing demand over new and renewable energy. However, the system reliability has been key issues and barriers to insure a better system performance as designed originally in ISO (international standard organization) standard. This paper introduces a systematic method to verify its intended design target so called as ISO performance data based commissioning technology for a water to air GSHP system. The commissioning technology starts from are to the international standard ISO performance data of a GSHP model and to compare its installed operation data and to calibrate and tune to the target optimum operation parameters. Results indicated that cooling capacity could be raised up to 76.6% from 46.6% from this proposed commissioning technology.

  • The international SPICE (Software Process Improvement and Capability determination) Project ISO/IEC 15504(SPICE : Software Process Improvement and Capability determination) is an emerging International Standard on SPA(Software Process Assessment). A prime motivation for developing this standard has been the perceived need for an internationally recognized software process assessment framework that pulls together the existing public and proprietary models and methods. A SPICE assessment can be considered as one of representative SPA model since assessors assign ratings to indicators and metrics to measure the capability of software process. But this models doesn't provide a systematic measurement procedures and dynamic method for SPI(Software Process Improvement). Through the evaluation of SPICE is capable of providing a substantiated basis for using the notion of capability, as well as providing information for nacessary improvements to the standard using 6sigma process. As a result, this paper propose a measurement procedure and guidelines for application of 6sigma process to guarantee the reliability in SPI and suggest the structure to support SPI on overall organization.

  • With the spread of Internet, e-business using Internet technology is being actively developed and operated. Currently, on behalf of the international e-business framework, International standard such as ebXML and Web Service is being advanced. We are able to publish and search business information through ebXML and Web Service and then actual trading between partners is accomplished. By the way, it is Registry that play an important part in e-business. Registry is an e-business infrastructure for enabling building, deploying, and the discovery of business Information. We can do e-business through Registries dynamically and share the resources. Representatives of Registry are ebXML and UDDI used as an international standard. We will meet with some problems when using Registries. ebXML Is focused on B2B collaborations and Web Service Is focused on application integrations. So we must use ebXML and Web Service characteristically, and sometimes use all at need. ebXML and Web Service contain business information by Registry specific way. So When using the services offered by ebXML and Web Service, we should access each Registry by using Registry specific tools. This thesis intended to integrate business information from ebXML Registry and UDDI Registry to accomplish e-business conveniently This thesis defined the common data model as well as integrated query language for integrated access to ebXML and Web Service along with design and implementation of the system.

  • In the domestic construction field, there are a lot of problems related to construction information exchange and sharing owing to the absence of construction drawing information exchange standard. To solve the problems effectively, it is necessary to apply STEP standard that is international standard and standard technology for achieving the establishment of Construction CALS. This study focus on suggesting a methodology to solve problems which occur to the current construction drawing information exchanging and sharing practice. The domestic and foreign standardization projects related to the construction drawing information have been investigated and analyzed. In result, a methodology of applying the STEP standard has been suggested. In addition, a verification and certification methodology for applying the CALS/EC construction drawing information exchange standard(STEP) have been suggested.

  • As the adoption of PACS and hospital information system among university hospitals and hospital level institutions grows bigger, the need of sharing and transferring medical information among medical institutions is rising. For the medical information, which is saved in the hospital medical system, to be transferred within the same hospital, domestic, or foreign medical institutions, a standard protocol is necessary. But realistically, most of the domestic hospitals do not abide by H7L which is the HIS standard and so, information transferring is not possible as of present. As such, the purpose of this research is to implement the information between HIS and PACS to an international standard by constructing HL7 messages through HL7 Interface. which will eventually make possible information transferring between different hospitals. Our research team has developed a method which will make the PACS equip hospitals that do not follow HL7 standard which will make possible to transfer information between HIS and PACS through HL7 Message. By constructing message files, which follow the form of HL7 Message in the HL7 Interface, they can be transferred to PACS through the ftp protocol. The realization of the HIS/OCS Interface through HL7 enables data transferring between domestic and foreign medical institutions possible by implementing the international standard in the PACS and HIS data transferring process. The HL7 that our research team has developed made patient data transfer between medical institutions possible. The Interface is for a specific system model and in order for the data transfer between different systems to be realized, interfaces that are fit for each system must be needed. If the interface is improvised and implemented to each hospital's information system, the data sharing among medical institutions can be broadened.

Validation of the International Classification of Diseases 10th Edition Based Injury Severity Score(ICISS) (ICD-10을 이용한 ICISS의 타당도 평가)

  • Objective : To compare the predictive power of International Classification of Diseases 10th Edition(ICD-10) based International Classification of Diseases based Injury Severity Score(ICISS) with Trauma and Injury Severity Score(TRISS) and International Classification of Diseases 9th Edition Clinical Modification(ICD-9CM) based ICISS in the injury severity measure. Methods : ICD-10 version of Survival Risk Ratios(SRRs) was derived from 47,750 trauma patients from 35 Emergency Centers for 1 year. The predictive power of TRISS, the ICD-9CM based ICISS and ICD-10 based ICISS were compared in a group of 367 severely injured patients admitted to two university hospitals. The predictive power was compared by using the measures of discrimination(disparity, sensitivity, specificity, misclassification rates, and ROC curve analysis) and calibration(Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness-of-fit statistics), all calculated by logistic regression procedure. Results : ICD-10 based ICISS showed a lower performance than TRISS and ICD-9CM based ICISS. When age and Revised Trauma Score(RTS) were incorporated into the survival probability model, however, ICD-10 based ICISS full model showed a similar predictive power compared with TRISS and ICD-9CM based ICISS full model. ICD-10 based ICISS had some disadvantages in predicting outcomes among patients with intracranial injuries. However, such weakness was largely compensated by incorporating age and RTS in the model. Conclusions : The ICISS methodology can be extended to ICD-10 horizon as a standard injury severity measure in the place of TRISS, especially when age and RTS were incorporated in the model. In patients with intracranial injuries, the predictive power of ICD-10 based ICISS was relatively low because of differences in the classifying system between ICD-10 and ICD-9CM.
