  • This paper examines the effects of intellectual property protection policies on upstream firms' R&D investments in order to derive policy implications in relation to the fostering of the intermediate goods industry. To that end, the dependence on import of intermediate goods and the degree of protection of intellectual property rights are introduced into the model to analyze the effects of R&D investments on the dependence on imports and the effects of intellectual property rights protection policies on the level of R&D investments in order and the social welfare effects are also checked. The policy implications derived in this paper, which used an oligopolistic market model with a vertical specialization structure, are as follows. As R&D investments expand, upstream firm begins to have price competitiveness, the dependence on import of intermediate goods by downstream firm decreases, and social welfare increases. That is, in order to strengthen the independence of the intermediate goods industry, R&D investments by upstream firm should be expanded, and to promote this, the government should strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights.

  • In this paper we introduce the intermediate differential of a Lipschitz map from a Banach space to another Banach space and prove that every locally Lipschitz function f defined on an open subset ${\Omega}$ of a superreflexive real Banach space X to a finite dimensional Banach space Y is uniformly intermediate differentiable at every point ${\Omega}/A$, where A is a ${\sigma}$-lower porous set.

  • The effect of intermediate annealing on the texture evolution in I.f steel was investigated by using X-ray texture measurement. After The sample was cold rolled to 80% reduction intermediate annealing was introduced to preform ${\gamma}$-fiber orientation grains in deformed matrix. The annealing time was varied between 30 and 3600 sec, These samples were cold rolled to 90% reduction and full annealed. By intermediate annealing final full annealed samples had very homogeneous ${\gamma}$-fiber orientation resulting in good deep drawability.

  • We have demonstrated several effective intermediate connectors in tandem organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) using doped or nondoped organic p-n heterojunction. The influence of n-type or p-type organic layer in intermediate connectors on device performance has been investigated based on the understanding of interfacial electronic structures.

  • We apply an Intermediate Problem Method to compute eigenvalues of an anharmonic oscillator. The method produces lower bounds to the eigenvalues while the Rayleigh-Ritz method yields upper bounds. We show the convergence rate of the Intermediate Problem Method is the same as the rate of the Rayleigh-Ritz method.

  • Degradation of (-)-laudanosine, a 1-benzyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline alkaloid, with ethyl chloroformate (ECF) afforded an optically active chloro-carbamate as an intermediate. The reason why this intermediate exhibits an optical activity was investigated by comparison with the reactions of some model compounds with ECF. It may be supposed that the chloride group in a hypothetic carbenium ion intermediate stands very closely to the chiral center, so conserving optical activity. However, a neighboring group effect can not be excluded.

  • A potential field method for solving the problem of path planning based on global and local information for a mobile robot moving among a set of stationary obstacles is described. The concept of various method used path planning is used design a planning strategy. A real human living area is constructed by many moving and imminence obstacles. Home service mobile robot must avoid many obstacles instantly. A path that safe and attraction towards the goal is chosen. The potential function depends on distance from the goal and heuristic function relies on surrounding environments. Three additional combined methods are proposed to apply to human living area, calibration robots position by measured surrounding environment and adapted home service robots. In this work, we proposed the application of various path planning theory to real area, human living. First, we consider potential field method. Potential field method is attractive method, but that method has great problem called local minimum. So we proposed intermediate point in real area. Intermediate point was set in doorframe and between walls there is connect other room or other area. Intermediate point is very efficiency in computing path. That point is able to smaller area, area divided by intermediate point line. The important idea is intermediate point is permanent point until destruction house or apartment house. Second step is move robot with sensing on front of mobile robot. With sensing, mobile robot recognize obstacle and judge moving obstacle. If mobile robot is reach the intermediate point, robot sensing the surround of point. Mobile robot has data about intermediate point, so mobile robot is able to calibration robots position and direction. Third, we gave uncertainty to robot and obstacles. Because, mobile robot was motion and sensing ability is not enough to control. Robot and obstacle have uncertainty. So, mobile robot planed safe path planning to collision free. Finally, escape local minimum, that has possibility occur robot do not work. Local minimum problem solved by virtual obstacle method. Next is some supposition in real living area.

  • The purpose of this study is to spread beam plastic hinging zone of the high-strength($f'_c=700kg/cm^2$) reinforced concrete beam-column joints away from the column face by vertically anchored intermediate reinforcements. The newly proposed intermediate reinforcements which are vertically anchored by interlinking each intermediate rebars are tested to insure the ductile behavior of R /C beam-column joins. Main variable is the shape of intermediate reinforcements. From the test results, the newly proposed intermediate rebar detail can move arid expand the beam plastic hinging zone about 1.Od from column face and can delay the strength decay of the high-strength R /C beam-column joint. Also energy dissipation capacity of specimen IV-1.OD10 which is reinforced by vertically anchored intermediate rebars about 1.0d is 1.6 times as high as the specimen CM-STAN which is designed by ACI318-89.

  • Long-term variability in the intermediate layer of the eastern Japan Basin has been investigated to understand the variability of water mass formation in the East Sea. The simultaneous decrease of temperature at shallower depths and oxygen increasing at deeper depths in the intermediate layer took place in the late 1960's sand the mid-1980's. Records of winter sea surface temperatures and air temperatures showed that there were cold winters that persisted for several years during those periods. Therefore, it was assumed that a large amount of newly-formed water was supplied to the intermediate layer during those cold winters. Close analysis suggests that the formation of the Upper Portion of Proper Water occurred in the late 1960's and the Central Water in the mid-1980's.
