This research is aimed to study the finishing material applied in interior space for improving residential environment. First of all, it finds out what is 'Sick Building Syndrome' and 'Sick House Syndrome', how harmful to human body about indoor air pollution substance (such as volatility organic compound, formaldehyde) and investigate the effect when the environment-friendly finishing material is used. Secondly, classify and examine all kind of finishing material applied in interior space. Finally, after emphasize the importance of environment-friendly finishing material from domestic or overseas, this research suggest the basic information of environment-friendly finishing material in order to use in the future buildings.

As part of alternative of elderly problems in the future super-aging society, this study aims to extract an improvement plan of interior environment design of Seoul-type day care centers to expand in future by observing day care centers as medical and healing environments, from the perspective of user experience. For this study, after selecting major activity areas of representative cases of Seoul-type day care centers, user behaviors in the space were observed and 4 seniors of baby-boom generation who are potential uses were chosen as personas by reflecting characteristics of healthy elderly, physical aging, mental aging and infirm elderly, from the perspective of user experience. Based on previous studies on healing environments, these characteristics and demands of personas were classified into environmental aspects, physical aspects and mental aspects to extract an improvement plan. The study results are as follows. First, interior environment design reflecting persona characteristics helps the elderly adapt to the environment and provides a comfortable environment like home for stability, treatment and recovery of memory. Second, interior environment design reflecting persona characteristics helps psychological healing through light entering the large windows and natural environment elements. Third, for interior environment design reflecting persona characteristics, finish materials with bright and soft colors should be used to change the images of facilities positively. Fourth, spatial composition should be remedied through division of space and built-in furniture depending on the needs of users for loitering of extra time and programs.

After the concept of apartments was introduced in 1960s in Korea, on account of the development of architectural technology and science, high-rise residences in Korea are getting higher, and these residences have been becoming high-rise commercial/residential buildings since 1990. Nowadays, as the construction of high-rise commercial residential building complex is booming, the difference between these complex and high-rise apartments is getting smaller, and these two kind of high-rise residences are becoming new residential style in Korea. And these high-rise residences are considered the symbol of wealth owing to the marketing strategy emphasizing high quality, refined interior, a fair view, and the protection of privacy. However, high-rise residences bring about many problems related to health and psychology caused by the consumption of a large amount of energy, pollutant emission, the deterioration of the quality of indoor air, and vibration. For this reason, in this study, we tried to emphasize the necessity of environment-friendly access to provide healthy living environment and to reduce the negative effect of housing life in high-rise residences, and find the method to improve environment-friendly quality and health of residents in interior space. Therefore, this study aims to detect the problems and the items to be improved of interior spaces of high-rise residences by quantitative, qualitative analysis of the evaluation elements and the floor planning elements deduced from environment-friendly architectural certification in Korea and the other countries, and suggest the guideline to improve the environment-friendly quality of these interior spaces.

The concern and recognition of the energy, environment, conservation of natural resources of the world today are raising, and sustainable development can't be considered in a way of separating development from environment any more. For sustainable development, a new educational infrastructure construction and paradigm coping with new environment through the whole education are needed. Accordingly, this research analyzed eco-friendly design curriculum among interior design major of 4year universities to help with reestablishing educational goal as a model for eco-friendly design curriculum development. According to this research, environment related subject were 91, the rate of 16.4% among total 1492 interior designs major, and among them, eco-friendly design related subjects were 15, which is the 6.4% of 91 environment related subjects, and which is 1.0% among total interior designs, through which we could see that eco-friendly design related subjects were very light weight in the total interior designs. So, the reasonable and concrete reform of eco-friendly design related subjects in 4year universities interior design curriculum seems to be urgent, and diverse eco-friendly design related subjects needed to be developed and established.

The purpose of this studies on the interior environment of the apartments, this study has purported to identify basic elements constituting an appropriate and comfort-able interior environment. For analytical purposes, prelim-inary and main investigation have been implemented, and the questionnaire survey has been conducted on the apartments constructed in the metropolitan area and five new satellite cities as the objects of evaluation and se-lected as the analytical object. After analyses of the cor-relation between dweller's and Interior spaces condition, the conclusion is as follows; There should be conducted systematic and comprehensive inspections of apartments no only centering around the occupants but also the ob-jective evaluation of environment and functions of the apartments.

The design characteristics of interior environment have reflected the changes in our society. Social issues and the products of ultra-technological advancement will be reflected in housing as well. The purpose of this research is to analyze factors and describes trends which might influence interior environment in future apartment housing, and thereby, to develop an alternative future model for 'ㅆ' apparentement located in Sangdo-Dong based on the type of the size criteria.

We researched the previous study about the restaurant's physical environment and had made up questionnaires. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of physical facilities of family restaurants on customers' satisfaction. The result was as follows: First, customers visited with friends or family irrespective of days $2{\sim}3$ times a month. Second, the physical environment factors of family restaurants were interior design, interior, making atmosphere and exterior. Third, it was the interior factor(0.268), making atmosphere factor(0.353) and exterior factor(0.244) that affected customers' satisfaction in family restaurants(p<0.001). $R^2$ change was 0.659 and the regression model was suited to our study(F=56.475). To increase customers' satisfaction, the physical environment of family restaurants needs remodeling in proper time.

A sustainable building must produce an interior environment that is safe, healthy, comfortable and supportive of human performance and well-being. The medical human comfort: performance and productivity cost of unhealthy environment may cause much cost for healing. Research that buildings with daylight, fresh air, eco-materials and sustainable interior design are consistently rated as more comfortable and occupants performance, satisfaction and health. This study is to categorize systematically interior environmental design elements for improving sustainability with a view to developing an evaluation model of super high-rise apartment unit plans. With a literature survey and design guide lines concerning sustainable design elements, three hierarchical categorization levels of human, environment, energy and resources systems that consists of upper, middle, low design elements have been proposed. A total of 6 items have been suggested for middle level of categorization and 24 items for lower level. Finally a total of 107 design elements concerning the 24 items and their relationahips have been revealed. The needs for a systematic approach to interior environmental design for sustainability have been discussed.

In 1990s, interest on Environment has been increased and Environment-oriented consumer's economic power accelerated the trend of preference for 'Environment-friendly material'. Moreover, the concept of 'Sick Building' Syndrome has been spread to the public and solution for the syndrome is required. 'Environment-friendly material'means that the material used is not harmful for the user's health, and on top of that, causes least harm to the environment during production/scrap process of the material itself. Decision of designers and architectures, as a result, is really crucial tot he environment issues. Above all, selecting the most environment-friendly material and design among possible candidates is natural and cost saving way. In the paper, couple of Evaluation Criterium for Material Selection are analyzed and objective linkage has been identified. With the result of analysis, methodology to minimize damage on environment during whole life cycle of the Interior Design has been sought for.

The purpose of this study was to identify the actual condition of residential environment for the elderly residing in Daejeon. The data were collected through interviews and structured questionnaires. The sujects were 583 elderly people over the age of 65 in Daejeon. Sociodemographic characteristics, living characteristics, housing characteristics, neighborhood environment types, actual usage condition of neighborhood environment, relationship between sociodemographic characteristics and actual usage of neighborhood environment, actual condition of unit interior, were surveyed. The data were analyzed with frequency, percentage, χ²-test, mean using the SPSS package. The major findings were as follows. Features of unit interior which pointed generally were deterioration, soundproofing and size. Features of unit interior which need to be carefully planned were removal of height difference of entrance, removal of the thresholds, installation of emergency bell and room heating control facility. The facilities provided highly within the subject's residential environment were the eldery facility, church, hospital, bank, restaurant, beauty salon/barbershop, supermarket. and the facilities provided lowly were recreational facility, library, elderly school.
