  • Chemoprevention refers to the use of non-toxic chemical agents to prevent the neoplastic development by inhibiting, delaying, or reversing a multi-stage carcinogenesis. The primary goal of chemoprevention research is to identify or produce effective agents and strategies for clinical trials for applications to normal or high risk human populations. A large number of compounds have been tested for their possible chemopreventive activities, and it is of interest to note that many of them are naturally occurring substances. Thus, a variety of plant and vegetable constituents, particularly those included in our daily diet, have been found to possess substantial protective properties against experimental carcinogenesis. These substances, collectively known as dietary phytochemicals, exert their chemopreventive effects by influencing specific step(s) of multi-stage carcinogenesis: some inhibit metabolic activation or enhance detoxification of carcinogens, others interfere with covalent interactions between ultimate eloctrophilic carcinogens and the target cell DNA and still others may exert anti-promoting or anti-progressing effects. Mechanism-based interventions by use of safe dietary phytochemicals may provide one of the most practical and promising cancer chemopreventive strategies.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze elementary school teachers' implementation for the emphasis on the revision, major contents, teaching and learning method, and evaluation in the 2009 revised national science curriculum. To fulfill the purpose of this study we carried out a survey with 222 elementary school teachers. Main findings of this research were as follows: First, they highly agreed to the increase in class hours and the application of subject classroom, but they had a lower recognition for setting the subject groups. Second, the degree of necessity in discussion and STS was relatively high, but the degree of implementation in science writing, discussion and STEAM was low. Third, in teaching and learning method, they showed a high performance for mutual cooperation, student-led activities and communication, but, a low implementation for open inquiry and instruction considering individual differences. Fourth, in the evaluation of science learning, they showed a high implementation for evaluation based on achievement standards and one based on the understanding and application of basic concepts, but, a low implementation for the development of common evaluation tools. Fifth, it seemed that their recognition for amount, level and interest of science contents and inquiry activities was appropriate and positive.

  • Constructive learning is an active process of meaning construction and students decide their individual learning objectives according to their own interest concern and ability. The purpose of this study is to develop a teaching-learning model and classroom materials from constructivist perspectives and to apply them to an elementary school classroom in Seoul for one month. In this study, it was reorganized the contents of unit of 'beds and fossils' based on the discussion between students and teacher during the second semester of 4th grade class. The teaching-learning model consists of five steps: 1) introduction; 2) exercise; 3) presentation; 4) consensus; and 5) development. The implementation results were summarized.

Only way to give them hope is through the commencement of an enterprises to have 2nd career development. But end of 1995, 467,00 dining out companies have been established and recently business are in depression. There are many business conditions of change of business or reduce operations, if unemployment populations of 5%, 100,000 peoples doing the commencement of an enterprises, enormous number of dining out companies will be increased and the competition will be fierce, especially those who have short knowledge and experience doing the commencement of an enterprises have high failure than success which will give a problems to society. Our study is to make the commencement of an enterprise to reducing the faiure and to be successful for main point to successful commencement of an enterprise, the established can self capability and mental condition, the main important factor is types of industry selection, successful and those established who takes this conditions will very carefully inspect various matters by scientifically and rationally mind industrys propulsion graphs and open official fixture graphs will framing detail factors. • The purpose of this study was to investigate the adolescents' images and preference on cultural products based on Baekje traditional culture focused on adolescents. The subjects were 421 adolescents in Daejeon and Chungnam province. The measuring instruments was stimuli of cultural products and a questionnaire with semantic differential scales of image of cultural products, preference, product evaluation criteria, and subjects' demographics characteristics. The data were analyzed by Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test, and regression analysis using SPSS program. The results were as follows. First, 3 factors(attractiveness, interest, gentleness) were emerged on images of cultural products based on Baekje tradition culture, however, the current products could not convey affectively the attractive and gentle image of baekje traditional culture. Second, the preference of the Baekje cultural products was evaluated low, and especially design and price was rated low in the evaluation criteria. Third, preference was related with the 3 image factors, and attractiveness factor was showed highly positive effects on preference of cultural products. The implication of this study was to provide the useful cultural product development plan for adolescents, and the research results suggested that modern and individual design, unique traditional pattern, resonable price, and practicality have to be considered to develop successful cultural products for adolescents.

  • Recently, the interest in technology valuation is revived and increasing mainly due to the lack of suitability of the traditional valuation methods in explaining the market reaction to newly-emerging knowledge-oriented companies. Moreover, many firms are now gearing their efforts to the strategic use of technology asset such as technology licensing, transfer and commercialization. Firms are also trying to enhance their technological competitiveness by re-evaluating their technology level and thus identifying the strengths/weaknesses of their technology portfolio. To accomplish this objective, the development of an integrated evaluation system for technology assets is essential. This paper presents a technology valuation system developed for a steel manufacturing company in South Korea. The valuation framework is based on; (1) the multi-attribute evaluation of technological competitiveness using Analytic Hierarchical Process and; (2) the expected future benefit of the technology using four different methods of discounted cash flow estimation. The suggested framework will be easily applicable to various industries where technological competitiveness should be evaluated systematically.

  • Since the first commercial NMR spectrometer came out in 1953 from Varian, much of the hardware development has been improved and matured through commercial equipments. Many of magnetic resonance laboratories however still build and use home-built spectrometers, which are satisfactory even with the consideration of educational purpose only. The home-built NMR spectrometer could be further advantageous and could be often an only option for investigating new ideas with demanding experimental conditions or new hardware support. A solid state NMR spectrometer was designed with extra interest in stochastic experiment and built for an 8.93 T superconducting magnet from Oxford instrument. Super-heterodyned system was implemented for the transmitter and receiver parts. Intermediate frequency (IF) for the heterodyne system was chosen to 70 MHz for the first and the second channels, with additional 120 MHz for the third channel for maximum NMR frequency capability. We will show overall schematics, and discuss the designs with detailed diagrams, then demonstrate the applicability of home-built spectrometer with stochastic-excitation in solid state NMR and in applications to quadrupolar nuclear Spins.

  • As the interest in traffic safety has been increasing recently, social movement is being made to reduce the number of traffic accidents and the view on improving the mobility of the existing roads is being converted into on establishing traffic safety as a priority. The increase of traffic accidents related to an intersection in a state that traffic accidents are decreasing overall may suggests the necessity to investigate the specific causes. In addition, we have to consider them when establishing the measures against traffic accidents in a intersection by investigating and analyzing the influences and factors that may affect traffic accidents. To induce the accident severity model, we collected the factors that affect accidents and then applied the Poisson Regression Model among nonlinear regression analysis by verifying the distribution of variables. As a result of the analysis, it turned out that the volume of traffic on main roads, the right turn ratio on sub-roads, the number of ways out on sub-roads, the number of exclusive roads for a left turn, the signals for a right turn on main roads, and an intersect angle were the factors that affect the accident severity.
