  • In order to cultivate talented people with national economic influence in the rapidly changing 21st- century modern society, STEM(Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) education has been emphasized in advanced countries such as America and England. In South Korea, STEAM(Science Technology Engineering Arts Mathematics) education is emphasized by adding Arts. The objective of STEAM education is to strengthen the interest and motivation of learners, to focus on experience, exploration, experimentation, to solve convergent thinking and real-life problems, rather than cramming method of teaching and memorization. This study identifiesan instructional design for converged English, the world's official language, and science which is found in nearly all disciplines. With the development of the 4th industrial revolution based on the PBL model, learners participate in their lessons voluntarily for problem-solving skills. The instructional design based on the ADDIE model consists of 5 procedures: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The goal of fostering talented people with national economic influence is also important, and the teacher in education must recognize the importance of STEAM education and an appropriate instructional design should be studied constantly.

  • Cyber-home Learning aims to extend learning space from the classroom to real-life situations, and teachers of research schools on Cyber-home learning have indicated the importance of connection with school instruction in order to improve students' performance. The goal of this study is to evaluate the influence of the instructional method( blended-learning vs just cyber learning) and the learning styles by Kolb's LSI on Cyber-home learning. We carried out the experiment using two similar classes in the social and math subjects for 1 semester. The results statistically shows the instructional method is the most influence on learning score and the next element is the learning styles. Therefor this study proved again Cyber-home learning is effective when connecting with school instruction and also the more various contents on learning styles could be supportive to students. In other words teacher's role and the adaptive learning contents by learning styles are essential for Cyber-home Learning's success.

  • This study focused on characterizing various factors in order for learners to maintain their interests in learning and to maximize learning effects as the top priority purpose of university e-Learning, on the basis of results of conceptual studies on existing e-Learning and practical studies, and then on examining them practically. It also analyzed which factors would have greater influence on learning effects of e-Learning in general. Moreover, in comparison with existing numerous studies which examined only factor such as learning effects of e-Learning, it analyzed such things in detail according to division into three items such as learning satisfaction, learning transfer and learning recommendation. To achieve such purposes of the study, it characterized and set 3 factors such as learning contents, instructional design and user convenience on the assumption that such factors have a significant influence on learning effects of e-Learning. Moreover, the factor of learning contents includes 3 detailed elements, i.e., learning issue and objective, knowledge information, and consistency and propriety, and the factor of instructional design includes 4 detailed elements, i.e., interest and sympathy, interaction, contents presentation and explanatory strategy. Lastly, the factor of user convenience includes 2 detailed elements such as screen configuration, and check-up of contents and teaching schedule. According to analytical results, it showed all 3 factors such as learning contents, instructional design and user convenience have a significant influence on learning effects of e-Learning(i.e., learning satisfaction, learning transfer and learning recommendation). In more detail, it showed the learning issue and objective from the factor of learning contents have the greatest influence on learning satisfaction of e-Learning. Then, it is the most important to set the learning issue and objective with given priority to learners and set the learning objective estimable, in order to raise the learning satisfaction. It showed the contents presentation from the factor of instructional design on the learning transfer. Therefore, it is the most important to structuralize mutual relation and presentation orders to promote learning systematically and to let learners access to such things, for the purpose of raising the learning transfer. Moreover, it showed the interest and sympathy from the factor of instructional design has the greatest influence on the learning recommendation. Thus, it is the most important to promote learners' interests to the maximum using well-timed media, and to give a lecture enough to arouse learners' sympathy.

  • The selection rates of Environmental subject have been increasing since the environmental subject was made. Although the quantitative growth, environmental subject is not acknowledged yet in many schools in Korea. Most of environmental teachers teach two subjects; main subject on their own major and environmental subject. In this respect, this qualitative case study aims to show the influence of teachers' charge on environmental class or environmental subject. In the case study, Teacher 'A' takes charge one subject; Environmet, and teacher 'B' takes charge two subjects; Social Study and Environment. Teacher 'A' took some current issues such as SARS(Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) and Saemangum project, and uses various instructional methods and instruments. On the other hand, teacher 'B' might not choose the current issues, or usually gives up various instructional methods and instruments because of lack of time. Although they have those differences on the instruction, the teachers 'A' and 'B' both agreed to the importance of Environmental Education as well as they did their best to prepare for class on environmental subject. As a result, all these outcomes show teachers need to be responsible for single subject on environment as teachers' interests seriously affect to environmental subject and class.

  • This study investigates the impact of Calculator-Based Ranger (CBR) activities in the performance of middle school students' graphing abilities of physical phenomena. Two issues about CBR activities on graphing abilities were addressed in this study; (1) the effect of CBR activities on graphing abilities, and (2) the influence of instructional styles on students' graphing abilities. Following the use of CBR activities, students' graphing abilities were significantly more developed in three components-interpreting, modeling, and transforming. Significant differences were found in students' achievement depending on instructional styles related to differentiation, which is closely connected to transforming distance-time graphs to velocity-time graphs. The findings of this study indicate that CBR activities may enhance students in constructing appropriate webs of related concepts and ability to qualitatively interpret graphs. Using collaborative CBR activities to introduce and explore graphing of physical phenomena is, therefore, recommended for inclusion in the secondary mathematics curriculum.

  • This study analyzes the epistemological meaning of‘social construction’in mathematical instruction. The perspective that consider the cognition of mathematical concept as a social construction is explained by a cyclic scheme of an academic context and a school context. Both of the contexts require a public procedure, social conversation. However, there is a considerable difference that in the academic context it is Lakatos' ‘logic of mathematical discovery’In the school context, it is Vygotsky's‘instructional and learning interaction’. In the situation of mathematics education, the‘society’which has an influence on learner's cognition does not only mean‘collective members’, but‘form of life’which is constituted by the activity with purposes, language, discourse, etc. Teachers have to play a central role that guide and coordinate the educational process involving interactions with learners in this context. We can get useful suggestions to mathematics education through this consideration of the social contexts and levels to form didactical situations of mathematics.

  • Currently, flight training is not only a technical instruction that teaches maneuvering operations, but has expertise equal to that of general disciplines. Therefore, flight instructors must have academic knowledge and flight skills. As flight instructors are the first teacher in flight training for students who have never experienced actual flight control, the behavior of flight instructors will affect the students' flight education. Therefore, the influence of flight instructors for students are quite large compared to other educational institutions. In this study, the factors of instructional behavior were determined, and the actual state of instructional behavior of flight instructors were confirmed through students' survey. Improvements were derived to solve the problems identified in the survey results. For the follow-up analysis, improvements were applied to the flight instructors for 8 months, and then re-question was conducted to the same students who responded to the first questionnaire to find out the difference in results before and after through a paired t-test.
