Named entities (NEs) are important in many Natural Language Processing (NLP) applications, and discovering NE-related relations in texts may be beneficial for these applications. This paper proposes a method to extract the ISA relation between a "named entity" and its category, and an IS-RELATED-TO relation between the category and its related object. Based on the pattern extraction algorithm "Person Category Extraction" (PCE), we extend it for solving our problem. Our experiments on Wall Street Journal (WSJ) corpus show promising results. We also demonstrate a possible application of these relations by utilizing them for semantic search.

An ATMS(Assumption-based Truth Maintenance System) has been widely used for maintaining the truth of information by detecting and solving contradictions in nile-based systems. But the ATMS can not correctly maintain the truth of the information in case that the generated information is satisfied within a time interval or includes data about temporal relations of events in time varying situations, because it has no mechanism manipulating temporal data. In this paper, The extended ATMS method is proposed, which can maintain the truth of the information in the inference system using information changing over time or temporal relations of events. In order to maintain contexts generated by relations of events, the label representation method is modified, the disjunction, conjunction simplification method in the label-propagation procedure and nogood handling method of the conventional ATMS are modified, too.

Now more than ever, many journalists are using hospitals' homepages for articles about hospitals, their mission, research, and events. Therefore hospitals' homepages have to be planned and constructed for journalists. The purpose of this study is to investigate hospitals' online media relations through analysing homepages. For investigating specifically, this study compares hompages of hospitals in Korea and hospitals in USA. This study uses four categories; basic media relations tools, useful information, interactive communication tools, and ease of use for journalists. The result of this study shows that hospitals' homepages in Korea are needed to improve for building with journalists. The hospitals' hompages have to be constructed by a variety of materials; press room, image and graphic archives, multimedia resources, and interactivity or responsiveness. This study suggests that the hospitals' homepages have the potential to achieve the desired public relations objective but are not commonly being used to their full potential in media relations.

Green's relations are five equivalence relations that characterize the elements of a semigroup in terms of the principal ideals. The J relation is one of Green's relations. Although there are known algorithms that can compute Green relations, they are not useful for finding all J relations in the semigroup of all $n{\times}n$ Boolean matrices. Its computation requires multiplication of three Boolean matrices for each of all possible triples of $n{\times}n$ Boolean matrices. The size of the semigroup of all $n{\times}n$ Boolean matrices grows exponentially as n increases. It is easy to see that it involves exponential time complexity. The computation of J relations over the $5{\times}5$ Boolean matrix is left an unsolved problem. The paper shows theorems that can reduce the computation time, discusses an algorithm for efficient J relation computation whose design reflects those theorems and gives its execution results.

PR커뮤니케이션이 기능주의적인 시각에서 벗어나서 다양한 패러다임 접근을 받아들이는 것은 하버마스의 사회비판이론이 도구적인 이성에서 벗어나 광범위한 의사소통 합리성을 추구하는 것과 유사한 맥락에서 이해될 수 있다. 기능주의 함정으로부터 하버마스가 광범위한 합리성 통합을 통해 해답을 찾는 것과 다양한 패러다임의 통합을 통한 'PR커뮤니케이션 민주주의'의 추구는 많은 유사성을 가지고 있다. 이 연구의 목적은 도구적 이성의 왜곡화로 인해 발생하는 현대사회의 병폐를 치유하기 위한 하버마스의 의사소통합리성 기획이 어떤 면에서 PR커뮤니케이션 이론의 패러다임 변화와 맞닿아 있는가를 밝히고, 그러한 두 분야의 유사성으로부터 새로운 PR커뮤니케이션 이론화의 가능성을 모색해 보는 것이다. 또한, PR커뮤니케이션을 통해서 하버마스 사회비판이론의 실천적인 측면을 탐색해 볼 수 있으며, 개인, 조직, 국가차원의 다양한 관계 속에서 대화의 진작, 사회 합의의 도출, 갈등의 해결, 공론 장의 확대와 같은 포괄적인 커뮤니케이션 합리성을 적용해 보는 계기를 마련해 볼 수 있다.

Recognizing spatial information associated with events expressed in natural language text is essential not only for the interpretation of such events and but also for the understanding of the relations among them. However, spatial information is rarely mentioned as compared to events and the association between event and spatial expressions is also highly implicit in a text. This would make it difficult to automate the extraction of spatial information associated with events from the text. In this paper, we give a linguistic analysis of how spatial expressions are associated with event expressions in a text. We first present issues in annotating narrative texts with reference relations between event and spatial expressions, and then discuss surface-level linguistic characteristics of such relations based on the annotated corpus to give a helpful insight into developing an automated recognition method.

코호트 DB(DataBase)를 이용하여 질병 발생 예측 및 확산을 추적하는 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 코호트 DB는 대용량의 질병 및 건강정보가 단순한 개별적인 DB 테이블의 집합으로 구성되어있어 연관관계 검색을 위해서는 코호트 DB를 연구 목적에 맞게 재구성하는 작업이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 대용량 코호트 DB를 온톨로지 기반으로 구축하기 위해 XML descriptor, editor를 이용하였다. 또한, 원활한 연관관계 검색결과 확인을 위해 온톨로지 기반의 코호트 DB 검색 시스템과 UI를 개발하였다. XML editor에서는 코호트 DB를 온톨로지로 구성하기 위해 7단계로 구성된 Ontology development 101 방법론과 OWL(Ontology Web Language) API를 이용하였다. 이와 같은 온톨로지 기반 코호트 DB 검색 시스템은 질병 및 건강정보의 연관성을 측정하고 의미적인 연관관계를 검색 시 효과적으로 활용 가능하다.

본 연구의 주제는 정보의 관계를 사용자 중심으로 시각화하는 것이다. 생활 속에서 제공되는 대부분의 정보들은 보이지 않는 연결성을 가지고 있다. 이런 정보들의 공통적인 특성 및 관계의 분석를 통해 정보의 중요도를 측정 할 수 있고, 정보관계의 전체적인 특성을 파악할 수 있다. 사회 연결망 이론은 인간관계에 초점을 맞추고, 사회의 각 개체 간 관계를 분석하여 도식화하는 여러 방법론이 제시되어 있다. 본 연구는 제한된 사회라고 볼 수 있는 그리스신화를 소재로 선정하여 등장인물들 간의 관계를 파악하는데 사회연결망 분석법을 적용하였다. 하지만 시각화 측면에서 볼 때 현재 제공되는 사회 연결망 분석 도구는 사용자를 고려한 디자인 부분이 배제되어 단순히 정보를 일방적으로 보여준다는 한계를 지니고 있다. 미톨로지아는 사용자가 정보를 파악하는데 좀 더 효과적이고 용이한 시각적인 구성을 가진 모델을 제시하고자 했다. 사회 연결망 분석법으로 그리스 신화의 인물들이 가진 신분, 출현 빈도, 감정관계 등을 수치화하여 인물의 연결성을 분석하였다. 또한 정보와 사용자 간의 상호작용 기능을 제공함으로써 사용자의 이해도를 높였다. 기본 인터페이스는 인물노드에 쉽게 접근할 수 있도록 4가지 분류에 의한 인덱스의 형태를 가지며, 인물 간의 세밀한 관계는 선택에 의한 줌-인(zoom in) 기능을 통해 볼 수 있다. 이는 기존의 필터링 기능과는 달리 직접 관련된 정보 이외의 정보들은 감추어줌으로써, 사용자가 보고자하는 인물 관계만을 빠르고 직관적으로 파악할 수 있도록 해준다. 미톨로지아는 개괄적인 관계를 보여주는 레이아웃과 부분적이며 상세한 정보를 파악하기에 적합한 인터랙션 방법을 동시에 제공한다.

The purpose of this is to analyze environment of foreign direct investment and Act in Korea and to find invitation and extension of foreign direct investment into Korea. Investment incentives, simplification of investment procedures, image improvement, increased public relations and investment support services are all factors which can be enhanced in the short term to positively influence investors decision-making in where to invest. Since the enactment of the Foreign Investment Promotion Act in November of 1998, there has been a signification improvement in Korea's investment environment in terms of policies and systems. It is expected that the foreign direct investment environment in Korea will continue to improve through the improvement in political stability, labor-management relations and easing of political tensions between the North and South, in the long term, as well as through improvements in investment incentives, investment procedures and public relations activities, in the short term.
