During the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been many changes in the aviation industry as a whole. Passenger traffic has decreased, but on the contrary, the international transport demand for cargo planes has never been higher. Due to their geopolitical location when flying to major cities around the world, Korea's international pilots are bound to have relatively more jet lag-causing routes than their American or European-based pilots. Through this study, we tried to analyze the degree of fatigue and fatigue weighting factors according to operating conditions for domestic pilots. As a result of the study, the following conclusions were drawn. Despite the variety of models, routes, and fatigue between individuals, it was found that the 3 Pilot operation route was concentrated as a representative fatigue route. Most of the individual fatigue improvement request sections showed higher fatigue as the night flight section was longer among the 3Pilot routes for more than 12 hours, and 43 out of 90 participants (Korean Air pilots) focused on 3Pilot (two captains and one pilot) as fatigue-intensive operating conditions. Therefore, it proposes an improvement in the system of applying 12-hour unification standards according to Korea's geopolitical international operating conditions and time difference standards.

Not only in aviation industry but also in other industries, safety data plays a key role to improve the level of safety performance. By analyzing safety data such as aviation safety report (text data), hazard can be identified and removed before it leads to a tragic accident. However, pre-processing of raw data (or natural language data) collected from each site should be carried out first to utilize proactive or predictive safety management system. As air traffic volume increases, the amount of data accumulated is also on the rise. Accordingly, there are clear limitation in analyzing data directly by manpower. In this paper, a topic prediction model for aviation safety mandatory report is proposed. In addition, the prediction accuracy of the proposed model was also verified using actual aviation safety mandatory report data. This research model is meaningful in that it not only effectively supports the current aviation safety mandatory report analysis work, but also can be applied to various data produced in the aviation safety field in the future.

Recently, various urban problems are expected to arise due to the concentration of urban population and acceleration of urbanization, and UAM, a new air transportation method, is emerging to solve these problems. Currently, the world is actively conducting research and development on UAM technology, infrastructure, and systems to commercialize UAM. Although UAM is expected to develop in a similar way to the air transportation industry, research on the human factors of UAM for safe UAM operation and accident prevention is insufficient. In this study, to ensure safe operation of UAM, the human factors of UAM-PSU were identified and presented using the AHP technique targeting aviation experts. In addition, a comparative analysis of the human factors of PSU and air traffic controllers was conducted through relative importance analysis, and an efficient management plan for important human factors was presented.
Purpose: This paper is for the improvement of the safety education system in the construction industry, which has become a great threat to domestic industrial safety. Among the industrial sectors, the accident rate and death rate in the construction industry are the highest, and measures for falls in the litigation work are needed. Method: The application of the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) resulted in the following conclusions. Results: The management group of the construction industry was divided into a group of on-site workers. In addition, the practical education system was reviewed by analyzing differences in perceptions of safety education. The survey results of the two groups were analyzed through AHP by dividing the construction safety education system into three layers. Conclusion: The results showed that managers showed a great deal of importance, such as actual conditions for implementation related to education, while on-site workers indicated importance for items that were somewhat site-oriented compared to managers. In addition, the two groups did not place much weight on the effectiveness of AR and VR, which have been expanding into safety education recently.
Statistics of aviation accident in Korea show that safety level of training flights is high. However, more than 80% of aviation accidents happen owing to human factors. And because most reasons of them are concerned with pilot error, it is very important for student pilots who will transport a lot of passengers to develop the knowledge of safety and abilities of risk management for preventing accidents. In this study, in order to investigate the Human Factors which affect safety in training student pilots for flight, verified the correlationbetween experiences of accident, the differences according to the experience level of training flight and the differences between college student pilots and ordinary student pilots on the basis of human factors that composes the SHELL models. For the study, Using SPSS 17.0, conducted Correlation Analysis, Analysis of Variance(ANOVA) and t-test. To sum up the result of this study, student pilot's ability and equipment in the cockpit are the important factors for safety when pilots are training flight. Also the analysis of the differences between human factors according to the characters of student pilots' groups shows that college student pilots are affected by immanent factors and organizational cultures. So far, there haven't been any accidents which is related with human casualties when training at the ATO(Approved Training Organization). But accidents can occur at any time and anywhere. Especially the human factors which comprises most of aviation accident have a wide reach and are impossible to be eliminated, therefore, it is best to minimize them. Because ATO is the starting point to lead the aviation industry of Korea, we will have to be aware of problems and improve education/training of human factors.
This study aims to develop protective pants to relieve impact from falls and to present basic data for the development. The survey results are as follows; First, 45% of the respondents were in their 60s and 55% of them were in their over 70s and older. Also, 64% of them have fallen once for the past year and 36% of them have fallen twice or more. The older they were, the more there were those who have fallen twice or more. This indicated the older people has experienced more fall accidents again after a initial fall accident. Second, as per accident situations, the survey showed that fall accidents happened the most in the winter and in the afternoon (12-18 pm). Also, it happened on a street mostly and they were wearing sneakers or hiking boots when they got a hurt slipped in a front or side by missing their step in a walk. The injury areas are mostly knee and ankle. They had the bruises or a sprain in their knee and ankle mostly. The rate of bone fracture was 19.5%. Therefore, the protection area to falls in lower body is the knee. But hip and hip joint should be protected with knee as well because those are usually be broken when it is damaged. Third, approximately 80% of those who were hospitalized for treatment had surgery. Patients who had surgery were rather in their over 70s than in their 60s. The older they were, the more serious their fracture was. The period of hospital or outpatient treatment is more than three weeks in many cases. They responded their health got worse after falls. Aftereffects of accidents were physical discomfort, anxiety and medical costs. Falls to the old makes physical damage, psychological damage, which cause reduced physical activity and the increased cost of health care with economic losses. So it results on a negative impact on the life of the old. Fourth, elderly females were rarely aware of impact protective clothing and they have never purchased such clothing. For impact protective pants, the major consideration was suitable design for their body types. They liked casual style with front or side pockets and simple designs without any patterns or decorations. As per pants materials, they responded that they need functionality, activity and elasticity. Among the functional points, insulation of cloths are considered importantly, so the heat reservance of material in the impact protective pants should be considered carefully.

The Korean nuclear industry has been influenced by Fukushima nuclear accident of Japan which occurred two years ago. With information about the accident mainly through mass media such as television or internet, most people are inclined to have a negative perception about nuclear and radiation. They have lack of proper understanding of the fact. Especially, Korean students being future generation have a very limited chance to learn about nuclear and radiation from their regular school curricula. To meet this need, the effectiveness of an extra curricula program is studied using a set of survey on the change of knowledge and perception on radiation, which has been conducted by providing a radiation experiencing program, developed for this study, to high school students in Daejeon area. As a result, a large number of students are found to have enhanced their knowledge on radiation, while some students have shown their positive change of perception on radiation. Based on this, further study may need to improve the survey method and to promote its application for the development of more diverse and systematic radiation experiencing programs. Moreover, better ways for synergy between education and public relations activities on radiation safety may need to be sought.
A lot of hazardous materials have been used for product processing and utility plant. Many accidents including toxic release, fire and explosions occur in the ammonia related facility and plant. Various safety and environment management program including PSM, SMS, ORA etc. are being implemented for risk management and accident prevention in the production industry. Also much study and research have been carried about risk assessment of accident scenario in the academic and research area. In this paper, firstly risk level was assessed by using a typically used KORA program and LOPA PFD method for the selected ammonia unloading and storage facility. And then risk reduction measures for the risk assessed facility were studied in 3 aspects and some measures were proposed. Those Risk Reduction measures are including a leak detection and emergency isolation, water spray, dilution tank, dike and trench, scattering protection in hardware impovement aspect, and a applicable risk criteria, conditional modifier for existing LOPA PFD, alternative supporting modeling program in risk estimation methodology aspect, and last RBPS(Risk Based Process Safety) program, re-doing of process hazard analysis, management system compliance audit in managerial activity aspect.

Korea has very strong shipbuilding industry in the world, so many new ships are constructed in Korean shipyards. These built vessels are carrying out sea trial at sea before delivering to shipowner, and sea trial ships cause navigation risk to other passing vessels to accomplish sea trial tests as quick turning, zigzag maneuvering and crash astern etc. in traffic congestion conditions. It occurred more than 1 collision accident related sea trial for recent 5 years. It has been increased about 30% of risk because of navigation of sea trial vessel by marine traffic flow simulation. This paper analyzed marine traffic density surveyed by AIS data for 7 days, and investigated position of marine accidents for 5 years in Korean coastal waterway, it established the sea trial prohibition areas as 10/100 level of total marine traffic volume, which is considered no danger for ship operator. This analyzed maritime safety law for setting of the prohibition waters to propose the basic legal system. It makes contribution to marine pollution prevention by setting of the sea trial prohibition water to improve the ship's navigation safety.

Towing vessels have carried out the important role and service in the maritime industry construction, such as port and sea bridge construction, fairway dredging and sea reclamation etc. Furthermore, tugboat takes the largest portion in number of vessel at the domestic registry and barges as big as the general merchant vessel, which are getting specialized and larger, are in operation. In spite of the increase of marine accidents under this situation, there has been no proper measure for the safe navigation of tugboat in the aspect of a nation. This paper aims to propose the measure for the safe navigation of tugboat according to the frequent marine accident of tugboat with sea bridge. Therefore, we show an example of the sailing schedule and operation checklist based on the analysis of statistics and precedent of marine accident and the investigation of the actual operation state of tugboat in the aspect of a contract of carriage and a personnel setup, which should be checked by the operator of tugboat, to pass through sea bridge safely and propose the safe traffic supporting system based on electronic chart system to improve the safe navigation of tugboat.
