  • There have been many attempts to find knowledge from data using conventional statistics, data mining, artificial intelligence, machine learning and pattern recognition. In those research areas, knowledge is approached in two ways. Firstly, researchers discover knowledge represented in general features for universal recognition, and secondly, they discover exceptional and distinctive features. In process mining, an instance is sequential information bounded by case ID, known as process instance. Here, an exceptional process instance can cause a problem in the analysis and discovery algorithm. Hence, in this paper we develop a method to detect the knowledge of exceptional and distinctive features when performing process mining. We propose a method for anomaly detection named Distance-based Anomaly Process Instance Detection (DAPID) which utilizes distance between process instances. DAPID contributes to a discovery of distinctive characteristic of process instance. For verifying the suggested methodology, we discovered characteristics of exceptional situations from log data. Additionally, we experiment on real data from a domestic port terminal to demonstrate our proposed methodology.

  • The problem of determining the optimum metal plating thicknesses on the plane and curved surfaces of an electronic part is considered. A lower specification limit for the plating thickness is usually pre-specified. In most applications, the plating thickness on the curved surface is proportional to that on the plane surface. The proportion can be adjusted by adding chemical catalysts to the plating fluid. From the economic point of view, nonconforming items with a thickness smaller than the lower specification limit incur rejection costs, such as rework and scrap costs, while a thicker plating may incur an excessive material costs. In this article, an economic model is proposed for simultaneously determining the target plating thickness and the ratio of the plating thickness on the plane surface to that on the curved surface. An illustrative example demonstrates the applicability of the proposed model.

  • Technology-oriented national R&D programs produce intellectual property as their final result. Patents, as typical industrial intellectual property, are therefore considered an important factor when evaluating the outcome of R&D programs. Among the main components of patent evaluation, in particular, the patent right quality is a key component constituting patent value, together with marketability and usability. Current approaches for patent right quality evaluation rely mostly on intrinsic knowledge of patent attorneys, and the recent rapid increase of national R&D patents is making expert-based evaluation costly and time-consuming. Therefore, this study defines a hierarchy of patent right quality and then proposes how to quantify the evaluation process of patent right quality by combining text mining and regression analysis. This study will contribute to understanding of the systemic view of the patent right quality evaluation, as well as be an efficient aid for evaluating patents in R&D program assessment processes.

  • There are many challenges in manufacturing system for new factory construction. Although factories produce same product, the layout of each factory may be different. The body shop in an automotive factory is a typical flow line with assembly, but the layout concept of the line varies among factories. In this paper, two types of layouts in the body shops of automotive factories, one for layered build and the other for modular build, are compared using simulation study. The simulation experiments indicate that the modular build layout is better than the layered build layout with respect to production rate. The effects of various failure distributions on the throughputs are also investigated, and some insights are suggested regarding the layout concept.

  • Musculoskeletal Disorders(MSDs) have been a growing problems with higher incidence rate every year. The 65% of all work-related diseases in the US has been MSDs since the middle of the 90s according to BLS(Bureau of Labor Statistics, 1995). The MSDs in Korea has been increased in recent 10 years as well. This study has tried to focus on job stress associated with MSDs that has not been usually studied before. Specifically job stress of workers at automobile manufacturing industry and relationship between job stress and symptoms of MSDs have been major concerns in this study. The workers had higher stress with longer working experience, longer working hours, and worse working environment. The job stress had strong association with the symptoms at hand, wrist and low back. Specifically, job stress factors such as job requirement and job future ambiguity had more effects on the symptoms of MSDs.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the influence of knowledge and subjective health status on health promoting behavior about osteoporosis in industrial workers. Methods: The subjects were 292 industrial workers. Data were collected with structured questionnaires in July 10 to August 20, 2012. The collected data were analyzed with t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and hierarchical regression analysis by using the SPSS Win 12.0 statistics. Results: The major findings of this study were as follows; 1) The average scores of knowledge about osteoporosis, subjective health status and health promoting behavior about osteoporosis were 9.26 out of 20, 9.64 out of 14 and 39.77 out of 68. 2) There were significantly positive correlations relationship among knowledge, subjective health status and health promoting behavior. 3) The factors influencing health promoting behavior were age(${\beta}$=.069, p=.032), knowledge(${\beta}$=.026, p=.005), subjective health status(${\beta}$=.058, p<.001). Conclusion: This study suggested that we should develop preventive osteoporosis programs for industrial workers considering these results.

  • Due to the administrative expand and the paradigm shift in global environments, the range for the enterprises assessment are now expanding to inclusive administration assessment including all kinds of accidents in work places as well as products and services. Therefore continuous investment and concern to safety and health are needed since some faults in safety and health lead to the enormous expense as well as decline of brand image. In this paper, n are concerned with the safety administration in industrial field and analyze the accident data, before and after the establishment of specialized organization for accident prevention, using the reliability growth model of Duane. The validity of the model is verified under the assumptions of NHPP(non-homegeneous Poisson process) of the accidents.

  • This study examined the stress reaction, resilience levels, and the effects of the stress reaction on the resilience among dental hygiene students. From July 11, 2016 to July 29, 2016, questionnaires were collected from 274 dental hygiene students in several areas. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using SPSS Statistics ver.21.0. The stress reaction level of dental hygiene students was found to be 2.59 out of 5 points and the resilience level was 4.47 out of 7 points. The stress reaction and resilience showed a significant negative correlation in Fatigue, Tension, Frustration, Anger, Depression, Aggression(p>0.001), and stomatization(p>0.05). In other words, the lower the resilience, the higher the stress reaction. The factors of stress reaction influencing the resilience were depression and somatization, which explained 25.6%(R2=0.256). Therefore, to enhance the resilience of dental hygiene students, it is important to investigation the stress reaction and there should be more concern with students who have higher depression and stomatization. In addition, efforts to control the stress reaction are needed.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the validity and reliability of the Communication Skills Attitude Scale, which is used to examine communication learning attitudes for domestic nursing students. Study subjects were 401 nursing students at two nursing college who completed the CSAS scale consisting of 26 items from June 1 to 15. Data were analyzed using exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, internal consistency with IBM Statistics SPSS 21.0, and the IBM Statistics AMOS 21.0 program. To verify the construction factor of the scale, exploratory factor analysis with varimax rotation was performed, resulting in four factors but confirmed positive and negative attitudes two factors with 19 items considering the construct of theory and interpretability. The internal structure of the scale was schematized using confirmatory factor analysis, and goodness of fit of the final research model was very appropriate as shown by ${\chi}^2=446.475$ (df=148, p<0.001), TLI=.90, CFI=.91, RMSEA=.07, SRMR=.05. The final scale consisted of 19 items and two factors based on the confirmatory factor analysis. Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ for final scale was .90, showing internal consistency. The CSAS is expected to be useful to monitor the effectiveness of multiple teaching strategies about communication for domestic nursing students.
