  • The aim of this study was to establish research hypotheses and conduct empirical analysis to clarify the relationship between self-leadership, self-efficacy, job satisfaction, and job performance of researchers in the energy and environment fields. Data were extracted from questionnaires returned by 165 researchers in the field of energy environment among 200 questionnaires collected for approximately three weeks. The reliability, frequency, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, and sobel-test were examined using the SPSS 22.0 statistical program. The self-leadership of the researcher has a positive (+) effect on self-efficacy, job satisfaction, and job performance, and the researcher's self-efficacy has a positive (+) influence on both job satisfaction and job performance. In addition, the self-efficacy and job satisfaction mediated the relationship between self-leadership, and job performance. Therefore, to improve the job performance of the researchers, it is important to establish a system for the human resource management of the affiliated institutions and revitalize the education for the self-leadership and self-efficacy improvement. In addition, it is necessary to provide an appropriate compensation system to satisfy the researchers' enjoyment, satisfaction and trust in their jobs. In particular, because self-efficacy is a very important factor for job performance, it is important to prepare an institutional strategy for strengthening the self-efficacy of researchers.

  • Advances in technology have allowed the development and commercialization of various parts; however this has shortened the discontinuation cycle of the components. This means that repair and logistic support of weapon system which is applied to thousands of part components and operated over the long-term is difficult, which is the one of main causes of the decrease in the availability of weapon system. To improve this problem, the United States has created a special organization for this problem, whereas in Korea, commercial tools are used to predict and manage DMSMS. However, there is rarely a method to predict life cycle of parts that are not presented DMSMS information at the commercial tools. In this study, the structured and unstructured data of parts of a commercial tool were gathered, preprocessed, and embedded using neural network algorithm. Then, a method is suggested to predict the life cycle risk (LC Risk) and year to end of life (YTEOL). In addition, to validate the prediction performance of LC Risk and YTEOL, the prediction value is compared with descriptive statistics.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of knowledge and risk perception of coronavirus disease-2019 on preventive health behavior among nursing students. The survey participants were 291 students in A city. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires between August 1 and 20, 2020. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression in SPSS ver. 18.0. Knowledge of COVID-19 was significantly dependent on age and school records. Risk perceptions were significantly dependent on educational grades. Age, health status, knowledge, and risk perception had significant effects on preventive health behavior, which was found to be positively correlated with knowledge and risk perception. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that age significantly predicted preventive health behavior (β=.188, p<.01), health status (β=-.245, p<.001), knowledge (β=.254, p<.001), and risk perception (β=.191, p<.001) that it accounted for 18.9% (F=17.904, p<.001) of the variance. An educational program is required to enhance the preventive health behavior of nursing students in a background of COVID-2019 that considers student age, health level, knowledge, and perception of risk.

  • Since 2017, the Occupational Safety and Health Act has been fully applied to school food services, and risk assessments have been implemented since 2019. The introduction was slow compared to other industries and was evaluated by non-professional nutritionists, so there was a limit to establishing the system. All schools under the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education apply the KRAS every year in accordance with the OSH Act for school foodservice and a notice from the Ministry of Employment and Labor. A risk assessment is applied according to legal regulations. On the other hand, the effectiveness of risk assessment has been questioned because the frequency and intensity criteria of the risk are qualitative and subjective. Based on the accident statistics of catering workers, the frequency and intensity criteria of risk were presented quantitatively and objectively, and a risk assessment was conducted by applying a new calculation standard for some work during the catering service and compared with current risk assessment results. The risk was increased, and the improved effectiveness was confirmed by the specific suggestions for improvement. Thus, the pilot evaluation for the entire food service should be expanded, and the feasibility confirmed. The pilot evaluation should be applied to all schools to enhance the effectiveness and operability of the risk assessment.

  • Although the use of physical restraints is controversial, it is still commonly used in hospitalized patients to prevent patient accidents in clinical practice. It is, therefore, necessary to evaluate the knowledge, attitude, perception, and nursing practices related to the use of physical restraints. This was a cross-sectional descriptive study in which self-administered questionnaires were collected from 144 nursing students at two Universities. Descriptive statistics, including t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression, were applied to analyze the data collected. Our results reveal that the mean knowledge score of nursing students regarding the use of physical restraints was 11.55±2.81, the mean attitude score was 60.01±7.24, the mean perception score was 59.97±10.68, and the mean nursing practice score was 38.04±4.15. Significant positive correlations were observed between nursing practice and knowledge, attitude, and perception. Multiple regression analysis showed that the factors significantly related to nursing practice and the use of physical restraints were perception (β=.23, p=.005) and attitude (β=.21, p=.009), having a total explained variance of 13.0%. The findings from this study suggest that perception is the strongest predictor of the use of physical restraints in nursing practice. Thus, it is necessary to develop and apply an evidence-based educational intervention program to ensure that nursing students correctly understand the need for physical restraints and later use them appropriately in clinical practice.

  • This study was conducted to determine the impacts of perceived stress and empathy ability on altruistic behavior of freshman nursing students. Data were collected from 160 freshman nursing students between 24 November and 9 December 2016. A total of 154 questionnaires were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and Stepwise multiple regression. The results showed that perceived stress had significant negative correlations with altruistic behavior (r=-0.178, p=0.028) as did positive perception, a subfactor of perceived stress (r=-0.347, p<0.001). However, empathy ability was significantly positively correlated with altruistic behavior (r=0.607, p<0.001). The factors influencing altruistic behavior included emotional empathy, cognitive empathy and positive perception, with emotional empathy being the most influential factor (${\beta}=0.320$), followed by cognitive empathy (${\beta}=0.312$), which together had an explanatory power of 41.6%. Moreover, there was a mediating effect of empathy ability in the relationship between positive perception and altruistic behavior. Overall, the results of this study indicate that the management of curricula for nursing college students should search for ways to reduce their perceived stress as well as increase their empathy ability in order to improve their altruistic behavior.
