  • The probabilistic relaxation(PR) scheme based on the conditional probability and probability space partition has the important property that when its compatibility coefficient matrix (CCM) has uniform components it can classify m-dimensional probabilistic distribution vectors into different classes. When consistency or inconsistency measures have been defined, the properties of PRs are completely determined by the compatibility coefficients among labels of labeled objects and influence weight among labeled objects. In this paper we study the properties of PR in which both compatibility coefficients and influence weights are uniform, and then a learning rule for such PR system is derived. Experiments have been performed to verify the effectiveness of the learning rule.

  • The purpose of this research is to find a better knowledge service R&D management process. There are four basic characteristics in service : intangibility, inseparability, inconsistency, and no inventory. These intrinsic characteristics require us to change the traditional manufacturing sector based R&D management process. It is necessary to develop an effective knowledge service R&D management model to improve the competitiveness of the service industry and Korean economy. A model case knowledge service R&D has been performed to find a better R&D management model. The whole cycle of R&D process, such as planning, selection, performing, and evaluation has been reviewed by real experience. Several important aspects of R&D process are compared between manufacturing R&D and service R&D. A knowledge service R&D management framework has been suggested. The results of this research can be used for building a better service R&D management process.

  • Finding reasonable flexural modes from the full vehicle modal testing has always been a difficult job to N&V engineers due to FRF inconsistency, nonlinearity, heavy damping and, in many cases, interactions between global body structural modes and massive isolate/non-isolated subsystem modes. This paper provides a brier overview of the mode map validation using single-run FRF measurement with highly sensitive accelerometers fur the full vehicle modal analysis and then it can be used to characterize the vehicle's global/local vibration performances, especially customer perceived "structural feel" typically below 40Hz.

  • The verification phase of knowledge base is an important part for developing reliable expert systems, especially in nuclear industry. Although several strategies or tools have been developed to perform potential ewer checking, they often neglect the reliability of verification methods. Because a Petri net provides a uniform mathematical formalization of knowledge base, it has been employed for knowledge base verification. In this work, we devise and suggest an automated tool, called COKEP (Checker Of Knowledge base using Extended Petri net), for detecting incorrectness, inconsistency, and incompleteness in a knowledge base. The scope of the verification problem is expanded to chained errors, unlike previous studies that assumed error incidence to be limited to rule pairs only. In addition, we consider certainty factor in checking, because most of knowledge bases have certainty factors.

  • Rules in expert system have meaning of assigning never-happen-minterms. Overall logical relations of variables can be achived by making all prime implicants of never-happen-minterms. From prime implicants, two tables, which are necessary in the process of inference, are constructed. There are two inferencing modes. One excutes inference only one variable which the user is interested in, and the other excutes inference all variables simultaneously. Outputs of inference have not only 'true' or 'false' but also 'unknown' which is different from conventional expert system. In this paper, an efficient approach is presented, which can check logical inconsistency in knowledge base and contradiction between input facts and rules. The methods in the paper may be available in the field of diagnosis and alarm processing.

  • The representative numerical algorithms to solve the time dependent Navier-Stokes equations are projection type methods. Lots of projection schemes have been developed to find more accurate solutions. But most of projection methods [4, 11] suffer from inconsistency and requesting unknown datum. E and Liu in [5] constructed the gauge method which splits the velocity $u=a+{\nabla}{\phi}$ to make consistent and to replace requesting of the unknown values to known datum of non-physical variables a and ${\phi}$. The errors are evaluated in [9]. But gauge method is not still obvious to find out suitable combination of discrete finite element spaces and to compute boundary derivative of the gauge variable ${\phi}$. In this paper, we define 4 gauge algorithms via combining both 2 decomposition operators and 2 boundary conditions. And we derive variational derivative on boundary and analyze numerical results of 4 gauge algorithms in various discrete spaces combinations to search right discrete space relation.

  • Initial screening is one of the most important and difficult processes in new product development. Many new product screening models have been developed in management and marketing. However practical applications of these models have been limited in part due to their complexity and inflexibility, and in part due to their excessive data requirements. Thus simple judgment models have been popular in practice. However, these models suffer from inaccuracy and inconsistency originating form human cognitive limitations. In light of the problem swith traditional screening methods, we propose a new approach for screening based on managers' past experience and intuitive judgments-screening by analogy, and develop a computerized case-based system for screening new financial service concepts. Using the system, managers can predict the potential performance of a new product concept based on the performance of past products that are similar to it in terms of product characteristics, firm's resources, and market conditions. Based on this prediction, managers make a screening decision.

  • KADS is currently a best known methodology for expert system development is Europe. KADS world sees the expert system development as a modeling activity and uses models to control complexity of the development process. Four layers KADS expertise model is used to describe expert knowledge. But this expertise model in high abstraction level is conceptual and not formalized. This paper has formalized KADS expertise model using set theory and mathematical semantics combined in order to reduce the ambiguity of informal models of expertise, provide a precise means of communication about the model of expertise and point out incompleteness and inconsistency of the model of expertise. Instead of first order predicate calculs, set theory and mathematical semantics are used because they are a more general and have compositive quality.

  • In general, for a large power system like DC distribution system for buildings, several power converters are modularized for parallel operation. However, in parallel operation, inconsistency of parameters in each module causes circulating current in the whole system. Circulating current is directly related to loss, and, therefore, it is most important for the safety of the power system to supply the suitable current to each module. This paper proposes a control method to reduce circulating current caused during parallel operation. Accordingly, the validity of parallel operation system including response characteristics and normal state was verified by simulation and experiment result.

  • Dissolved silica is one of fatal components at a boiler facility Therefore, a dissolved silica measurement system should be equipped for managing efficiently the boiler facility. Most of silica measurement systems are composed of a sensor module of single-beam type structure, and silica density is measured with a infrared spectrometry using the Lambert-beer method. However, such a system occurs measuring error of large range and inconsistency of a light source, because of measuring a standard sample and a measuring sample alternatively. This paper introduces a method that the sensor module has a split-beam type structure and a tungsten lamp. The proposed system can measure silica density quickly and precisely more than those composing of a single-beam type structure, because of measuring and comparing with two samples at a same time. And examination results are shown to compare efficiencies of the system and existing commercial products, and for an ammonia influence.
