  • Calcium hydrogen phosphate was synthesized by reacting calcium chloride and sodium hydrogen phosphate solution in this study. It is well known that the particle size and yield o f calcium hydrogen phosphate produced is greatly affected by the synthetic conditions such as the reactant concentration, reaction temperature, reacting fine, mole ratio and drying temperature, etc. The purpose of this study is to investigate the optimum synthesis condition from the viewpoint of yield and sedimentation volume of the prepared calcium hydrogen phosphate powder according to a randomized complete block design proposed by G.E.P. Box and K.B. Wilson. It was found that the optimum synthetic conditions of calcium hydrogen phosphate were as follows: It was found that optirnum temperature range of reactant solutions was $28-38^{\circ}C$ and $32-42^{\circ}C$ respectively, on the viewpoint of yield and sedimentation volume. The optimum concentration range of reactant solutions was 5.5-10.0% and 6.9-7.4% respectively, on the viewpoint of yield and sedimentation volume. The optimum mole ratio of $CaCl_2$ to $Na_2HPO_4$ was in the range of 1.2-2.0 and the optimum reacting time range was 8.5-11.0 minutes. The optimum drying temperature range was $39-41^{\circ}C$ from the viewpoint of yield, but it was $39-43^{\circ}C$ on the basis of sedimentation volume. Crystallographic analysis to X-ray diffraction patterns of commercially available ecalcium hydrogen phosphate and calcium hydrogen phosphate samples prepared in this study suggested that all samples tested belonged to monoclinic crystal system characteristic of $CaHP0_4{\cdot}2H_20$ crystals.

  • A fuel handling process combined with a pressure swing adsorption system (PSA) was simulated to produce pure hydrogen with a purity greater than 99.97%. The simulation consists of two parts. The fuel processing part consisting of reformer and water-gas shift reaction was simulated with Aspen plus®, and the hydrogen purification part consisting of PSA was simulated with Aspen Adsorption®. In this study, the effect of reformer temperature and pressure on the total hydrogen production yield was investigated. Simulations were performed over a temperature range of 700 to 1,000℃ and a pressure range of 1 to 10 bar. The total hydrogen production yield increased with increasing temperature and decreasing pressure. The maximum hydrogen yield was less than 50% in the simulation and will be lower in the real process.

  • Sodium borohydride, $NaBH_4$, shows a number of advantages as hydrogen source for portable proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). Properties of $NaBH_4$ hydrolysis reaction using unsupported Co-P-B Co-B, catalyst at high concentration $NaBH_4$ solution were studied. In order to enhance the hydrogen generation yield at high concentration of $NaBH_4$, the effect of catalyst type, $NaBH_4$ concentration and recovery of condensing water on the hydrogen yield were measured. The yield of hydrogen evolution increased as the boron ratio increased in preparation process of Co-P-B catalyst. The hydrogen yield decreased as the concentration increased from 20 wt% to 25 wt% in $NaBH_4$ solution during hydrolysis reaction using 1:5 Co-P-B catalyst. Maximum hydrogen yield of 96.4% obtained by recovery of condensing water and thinning of catalyst pack thickness in reactor using Co-P-B with Co-B catalyst and 25 wt% $NaBH_4$ solution.

  • The influences of pH on hydrogen production were also investigated over the pH range from 4.1 to 8.0 at HRT 10 hours. The hydrogen content for the produced gas was changed from 41 to 71% with corresponding pHs throughout this experiment. The produced hydrogen/carbon dioxide ratio was not vary significantly up to 6.0, then steepenly increased with increases in the pH. The maximal hydrogen yield was found to be 3.16 $\ell$/g sucrose at pH 5.0. Acetate production yield increased with increased pH, but butyrate production yield decreased with increased pH. Biomass yield increased with increased pH.

  • Sodium borohydride, $NaBH_4$, shows a number of advantages as hydrogen source for portable proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). The hydrogen yield of sodium borohydride hydrolysis reaction was studied. The effect of temperature, $NaBH_4$ concentration, NaOH concentration and catalyst type on the hydrogen yield from $NaBH_4$ hydrolysis reaction were measured. The catalysts of Co-P/Cu, Co-B/Cu and Co-P-B/Cu were used in this study and there was no different effect of these catalysts on the hydrogen yield from $NaBH_4$. Under the temperature of $60^{\circ}C$, the hydrogen yield decreased as $NaBH_4$ concentration increased due to formation of gel with by-products and reactants. The gel formed during $NaBH_4$ hydrolysis reaction diminished the hydrogen evolution rate and total volume of hydrogen. Addition of NaOH stabilizer enhanced the formation of gel and then decreased the hydrogen yield.

  • Hydrogen production and its dynamics were investigated in the continuous anaerobic digestion process using Clostridium beijerinckii Donker 1926. In this work, glucose was used as a substrate and hydraulic retention times (HRT) were 0.5, 0.25 or 0.125 day. The removal efficiency of carbohydrate was over 99% under all of HRT conditions. As HRT was shorter, COD removal efficiency became lower while hydrogen content in the total gas and hydrogen production rate became higher. The cell growth yield and hydrogen production yield were 0.27 g-VSS/g-glucose and 0.26 L/g-glucose, respectively, at the steady state. It is expected that the microorganism is able to produce hydrogen when used in the wastewater treatment containing carbohydrate such as glucose. Also, the results in this study could be applied to the actual hydrogen gas production, a promising alternative energy.

  • Because many research using concentrated hydrogen peroxide as propellant is studied, research for distillation method for domestic production of rocket grade hydrogen peroxide is needed. To distill hydrogen peroxide, vacuum distillation will be used because of heat decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. Distillation pressure is 30 torr which is determined by Raoult's law to distill under $40^{\circ}C$. Variable of distillation experiment is distillation temperature. And the comparison of distillation results was done by yield and operation time. In the result, generally, yield was lower and the water in receiver had higher concentration with shorter distillation time. And with similar time, when distillation temperature was higher, yield was lower and hydrogen peroxide became higher concentration.

  • Nowadays, the concern on the environmental load of bleaching process gave rise to the process of ECF(elemental chlorine free) and TCF(total clorine free). These sequences are based on oxygen-derived compounds such as oxygen, ozone, and hydrogen peroxide which is used as a typical eco-friendly bleaching agent. In this study, paper mulberry pulp was bleached with hydrogen peroxide and some bleaching process were accompanied with ultrasonication in order to increase the bleaching efficiency. The best bleaching efficiency of paper mulberry pulp was obtained in the condition of hydrogen peroxide and ultrasonication(20 kHz) bleaching system at $45^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. The brightness and kappa number of paper mulberry pulp were gained to 5.09% and 3.52 respectively. and yield was slightly loosed to 2%. Therefore, the efficiency of hydrogen peroxide and ultrasonication bleaching system of paper mulberry pulp was superior to the conventional hydrogen peroxide bleaching system. Magnesium sulfate acted as a bleaching stabilizer for the increasement of yield. As a result, the yield and viscosity were increased to 2.2% and 12% respectively.
