  • Purpose: Corporate management is under pressure to contribute to social values beyond profit-seeking, and interest in ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) is increasing worldwide. In the recent global climate change crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of non-financial values such as ESG is increasing. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to prepare a strategy for future ESG management activities by analyzing the impact of it on corporate performance by food companies. Research design, data and methodology: ESG-related research trends, ESG activities, and corporate performance were analyzed. After that, a regression analysis was conducted to identify the relationship between ESG evaluation grade and corporate performance. Result: ESG management activities measured by ESG scores did not significantly affect the return on assets, one of the variables of corporate performance. However, as a result of setting the return on equity as a dependent variable, ESG management activities have a nonlinear relationship with corporate performance, and ESG management activities have a positive effect on corporate performance when investment in ESG management activities is reasonable. Conclusions: These results show that food companies should engage in an appropriate level of ESG management activities to improve corporate performance.

  • This study reviews the scientific management theories and discusses those theories within the food service industry. By providing the principles and the practical implications of the theories on the food service industry, this study tries to identify their philosophies and usefulness to the industry so that the managers in the industry use them in their dylmanic operations. In the fastly changing modern globalized world, we now face a situation where it's becoming more and more difficult to mange a restaurant business. In order to build a food industry business that can maintain a continuous development in today's business environment, one will have to apply the professional management theory in a cost-reduce strategy. It is more important though to have managers, organization members, in short, any person who can work to be motivated in accomplishing these two major issues-income increase and cost reduction. In this erawhere it's getting so difficult for researches on possible strategies for these business managers to overcome their difficulties. It is for certain that in the upcoming second millenium the travel and tourism industry will be one of the world's biggest industry worldwide. Korea's hotel industry has developed since the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games and has shown great amount of competition within the same business. Thus managers have become acquainted with the "know-how" strategy and the practical and scientific managemnet theories were introduced. This helped not only to increase income but also to maximize profit. However, rather than concentration on the "Hard-ware" aspect "Soft-ware" related professional management strategies were developed along with professionalism and human service were emphazied. As such, the actual cost of food and beverages are for the hotel industry business managers the biggest shortterm expense item. Due to the natural state of food items, there is a great chance of "Loss" in preservance, and this is the reason it is complicated to effectively maintain food. As a consequence, very often, the failure to managea hotel or restaurant depends on the capability of the food and beverage preservance mangement: on how they are able to manage effectively the original price of food and beverage. Finally, the main problem of the original price management of food and beverage in Korean hotels are: a) No fixation of set price b) The difficulty to calculate the price difference between a set price and an original price. c) Lack of professinalism in managing the food and beverage original price. d) Lack of perception of the highest ranking management personnels. So as to reform these matters it is necessary to : a) Reform on the management accounting system b) Emphasize to the people in charge on the idea of original price management c) Reinforce original price mangement prevention and assurance of indepedent inspection rights d) Reat manpower

Under these circumstances, this study started with a strategic objective to increase the quality of service, thus enabling customer satisfaction and revisit intention. For enhancing the competitiveness of Chinese mid/low-priced hotel business, we plan to establish a model using SERVQUAL, O2O platform, and identify their relationship through empirical analyses. Research design, data and methodology: Through the consideration of the existing literature, this study intended to identify the characteristics of service quality in Chinese mid/low-priced hotels and to consider their impact on customer satisfaction and revisit intention. We also wanted to examine the moderating effect of the O2O platform between the characteristics of service quality and customer satisfaction. A survey was carried out on customers using mid/low-priced hotels in China and empirical analyses were conducted using regression analyses. Results: First, in the hypothesis of service qualities' effects on customer satisfaction were identified with significant positive effects. Second, in the hypothesis of service qualities' effects on revisit intention, "tangibles, reliability, and empathy" have shown significant positive. Third, in the verification of the moderating effect of the O2O platform, there were "positive partial moderating effects" between service qualities and customer satisfaction. Finally, the effect of customer satisfaction on revisit intention was positive significant. Conclusions: In order to satisfy their customers, improvements in service quality should be made first. In addition, customer satisfaction had a positive impact on revisit intention. In order to revitalize Chinese mid/low-priced hotels, differentiation strategy is also needed for specialized customers such as college students, and basically, efforts should be made to optimize the O2O platform. O2O platforms should establish optimal platform construction strategies based on the customer's perspective. After all, in the case of Chinese mid/low-priced hotels, it is necessary to strengthen the construction of the latest hardware infrastructure and O2O platform of software infrastructure, and to improve customers' advanced online and offline experiences. Finally, regarding the hypothesis that was rejected among service qualities' characteristics, we tried to discuss the reason and find the implications of these.

  • Fantasy emerges from the cracks and crevices of rational reality. Italo Calvino says, "Fantasy is possible when the reader stays at a certain distance without falling into the text." Fantasy does not form farthest from reality. It comes from the confusion between reality and fiction. In short, fantasy does not exist on the contrary of reality, but on the boundary of reality. Reality and fantasy are also structurally intertwined. We can't distinguish the reality from fantasy clearly. In fact, in this case, the reader or audience is confused about whether what I see is real or not. Todorov calls this case "hesitation." Hesitation is a key element of fantasy. Two texts that expressed "hesitation" are Kim Young-ha's short novel Vampire (1997) and Wes Anderson's film The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014). On the surface, these two texts seem to have nothing to do with narrative structural similarities. And both also arouse readers' and audiences' interest by letting confuse reality to fantasy. In Kim Young-ha's Vampire, we can look at the process of confusion of reality called "narrative infection" when a text is read to the reader. In the movie The Grand Budapest Hotel, we can find a strategy to make an unreal story feel like a fact in history. And we can also find a process in which the success stories of alienated characters become reality through 'solidarity' in the film. This paper is a study of how fantasy creates "reality", makes readers feel fantasy, and how it spreads through these two texts.
