  • Participants in this study to develop the Korean version of the Early Childhood Home Observation for Measurement of the Environment(EC-HOME) were 294 3- to 6- year-old children enrolled in a child care center and their parents. Results were that EC-HOME had sufficient internal reliability : Cronbach's ${\alpha}=.80$. Correlation of test-retest ranged from .76~.97. In item-analysis, 9 items with low 'corrected item-total correlation' were removed resulting in 30 items. Factor analysis confirmed 6 factors : 1) Learning Material, 2) Learning Stimulation, 3) Responsivity, 4) Physical Environment, 5) Language Stimulation, and 6) Variety of Materials. Analysis of the relation of children's home environment to their characteristic variances with parents and developmental functioning showed high internal consistency and convergent validity of the sub-scales.

  • This study aimed to assess the feasibility and impact of a 5-week parent-led home-based music program for parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The program aimed to enhance the parents' sense of competence and their relationships with their child. Each week for 5 weeks, 10 parents of 10 children with ASD (aged 3 to 9 years) received weekly 30-minute personalized lessons on how to implement the home-based music program and implemented the educated music program at home with activities involving receptive and active engagement. On average, the parents conducted the music program 2.5 times a week for about 9.2 minutes per session. At the end of the 5 weeks, parents reported increased comfort and effectiveness in interacting with their child through music. In addition, positive changes were noted on the Parenting Sense of Competence Scale and the closeness aspect of the parent-child relationship. Participants affirmed the program's feasibility, emphasizing its potential for supporting families with children with ASD. These results provide foundational data for future home-based music activities and programs, emphasizing the importance of tailoring interventions to the unique needs of families with children with ASD.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between children's perceptions of interpersonal relations (parents, family, and peers) and those of self, and to examine how the perceptions are related ot problem-solving and social preference. The subjects of this study were 625 children of 5th and 6th grade in 4 primary schools in Taejon City. Results showed positive correlations among four measures of social perceptions (to parents, to family, to peer, and to self). Therefore we have found generalization among children's representations across four interpersonal domains-that is, parents, family, self, and peer. Children's problem solving-behaviors were most significantly related with parents/family domains among interpersonal relationships. In the case of boys, direct path between the perceptions of parents/family and problem solving-behavior was significant, whereas girls' perception of parent/family was associated with problem solving-behavior both directly and indirectly, through girls' perceptions of self and peer. Social preference was highly correlated with perceptions of peer and of father. This study has found that both boys' and girls' peer representations were established for the role as mediators between parents/family representations and peer ratings of social preference. These findings revealed that the impact of family representations on peer rejection was mediated by children's beliefs about their peers.

  • In today's family, it can be said that children's faith education is in a very difficult time. Moreover, faith education at home is urgently required during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, as society changes rapidly, families are also changing rapidly. As the current society became diversified and personalized, the family lost its educational function. In other words, it can be immediately said that faith education in Christian families has collapsed. The reason is that the problem of faith education in today's family lies in poor communication. Communication problems are becoming difficult for parents and children due to changes in values caused by individualism and capitalism, and as the difference between values and the generation of children widens. In addition, disconnection of dialogue at home due to the disconnection of culture between generations is an obstacle to faith education. It is urgent to restore the educational function of Christian families. When parents provide Christian faith education to their children, their children can grow up properly. Communication with children is desperately needed to restore the purpose and function of faith education at home. Communication between parents and children is an important factor influencing children's motivation for religious education. Parents and children's communication must be open and positive parenting attitudes need to be sufficiently motivated for faith education. In order to solve the immediate problem of the absence of faith education at home, an alternative will be proposed to restore faith education through communication between parents and children. First, the necessity of faith education at home will be discussed. Then communication at the beginning of faith education will be considered. And third, communication and methods at home to implement faith education will be presented. This study will serve as an opportunity to provide clues to restore and implement faith education in Christian families.
