As the number of single-person households increases, the consumption of bottled water is increasing. In addition, as the public's interest in radioactivity increases, interest in the field of living radioactivity is also increasing. Since drinking water is an essential element in our daily life, it must be safe from radioactivity. In this study, gamma radiation of drinking spring water was measured and internal exposure dose evaluation was performed to determine its harmfulness. K-40 and uranium-based radioactivity analysis was performed through a high-purity germanium detector, and as a result, drinking water was detected somewhat higher than that of mixing water. Since there is no regulation on the natural radioactivity concentration in Korea, it was compared with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Drinking Water Regulations and World Health Organization standard. As a result, there were some items that exceeded standards. Internal exposure was evaluated according to the effective dose formula of ICRP 119. As the result was derived that a maximum of 1.17 mSv per year could be received. This result means that the dose limit for the general public may be exceeded, and it was judged that it is necessary to set an appropriate standard value and present a recommendation value through continuous monitoring in the future.

The activity of gamma-ray emitting nuclides is calculated assuming that each gamma-ray is detected individually; thus, the magnitude of the coincidence summing signal must be considered during activity calculations. Here, the correction factor for the coincidence summing effect was calculated, and the detection efficiencies of two HPGe detectors were compared. The CANBERRA Inc. GC4018 high-purity Ge detector provided an estimate for the peak-to-total ratio using a point source to determine the coincidence summing correction factor. The ORTEC Inc. GEM60 high-purity Ge detector uses EFFTRAN in LVis to obtain the parameters of the detector and source model and the gamma-gamma and gamma-X match estimates, in order to determine the coincidence summing correction factor. Nuclide analyses, radioactivity comparisons, and analyses of reference material samples were performed utilizing certified reference materials to accurately determine the detection efficiencies. For both Co-60 and Y-88, the detection efficiency for a point source increased by an average of at least 12-13%, whereas the detection efficiency determined using LVis increased by an average of at least 13-15%. The calculated radioactivity values of the certified reference material and reference material samples were accurate to within 3% and 6% of the measured values, respectively.
A method of efficiently purifying high value-added indole among components of coal tar absorption oil was studied using a step-by-step process of extraction-distillation-crystallization. The coal tar absorption oil used in this study contains 1.2% naphthalene, 0.1% quinoline, 0.4% isoquinoline, 6.4% indole, 21.0% 1-methylnaphthalene, 48.8% 2-methylnaphthalene, and 11.7% biphenyl as main components. For the separation and purification of indole, methanol was first used as a solvent to separate indole species in the coal tar absorption oil into an extract phase. And then methanol was recovered by distillation. Subsequently, an extraction solution where methanol was removed was mixed with normal hexane, and then crystallized to recover indole having a purity of 99.3%. Based on the experiments of this study, a purification process scheme for indole in coal tar absorption oil was proposed.

To establish a pre-plating method of chicken satellite cells with high purity, pre-plating was performed under culture conditions of 37℃ and 41℃, and the pre-plating time was set from a total of 3 hours to 6 hours in consideration of the cell attachment time. The purity of the cells was confirmed by staining paired box protein 7 (Pax7) after proliferation, and Pax7 expression was the highest in culture flasks shaken for 2 hours after incubation at 41℃ for 2 hours to prevent the attachment of satellite cells (p<0.05). Also, when pre-plating and proliferation were performed at 37℃ and 41℃, the Pax7 expression rate was higher at 41℃. The differentiation capabilities of the three groups (T3, T6, and T7) with high Pax7 expression were compared and the fusion index (%) and myotube formation area (%) determined by myosin heavy chain (MHC) staining was calculated. The T6 and T7 groups, which were cultured at 41℃, showed significantly higher values than the T3 group (p<0.05). There was no significant difference in the expression of Pax7 and MHC between the T6 and T7 groups (p>0.05). These results suggest that pre-plating at 41℃ for a total of 4 hours was the most efficient in terms of cost and time for purifying chicken satellite cells for cultured meat.
Five triterpenic acids as marker compounds were extracted and isolated from Prunellae Spica by column chromatography and reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and their purity was determinated by HPLC (purity ${\geq}90%$). Molecular weight and elemental compositions of the five marker compounds were determined by fast atom bombardment high-resolution mass spectrometry (FAB-HRMS). The structural determination of the five marker compounds was carried out fast atom bombardment collision-induced dissociation tandem mass spectrometry (FAB-CID-MS/MS). The collision-induced dissociation (CID) of protonated molecules $[M+H]^+$ and deprotonated molecules $[M-H]^-$ produced diverse product ions due mainly to retro Diels-Alder reaction (RDA), dehydration and decarboxylation. Moreover, the CID-MS/MS spectra of the $[M-H]^-$ ions were observed charge-remote fragmentation (CRF) patterns. On the basis of interpretation of CID-MS/MS spectra, structural elucidation of triterpenic acids isolated from Prunellae Spica was clearly performed.
Li1.5Al0.5Ti1.5(PO4)3 (LATP) is considered to be one of the promising solid-state electrolytes owing to its excellent chemical and thermal stability, wide potential range (~5.0 V), and high ionic conductivity (~10-4 S/cm). LATP powders are typically prepared via the sol-gel method by adding and mixing nitrate or alkoxide precursors with chelating agents. Here, the thermal properties, crystallinity, density, particle size, and distribution of LATP powders based on chelating agents (citric acid, acetylacetone, EDTA) are compared to find the optimal conditions for densely sintered LATP with high purity. In addition, the three types of LATP powders are utilized to prepare sintered solid electrolytes and observe the microstructure changes during the sintering process. The pyrolysis onset temperature and crystallization temperature of the powder samples are in the order AC-LATP > CA-LATP > ED-LATP, and the LATP powder utilizing citric acid exhibits the highest purity, as no secondary phase other than LiTi2PO4 phase is observed. LATP with citric acid and acetylacetone has a value close to the theoretical density (2.8 g/cm3) after sintering. In comparison, LATP with EDTA has a low sintered density (2.2 g/cm3) because of the generation of many pores after sintering.

In this study, the resistance characteristics of semi-insulating SiC single crystals grown using the PVT method were investigated, considering the purity level of SiC source powders used in PVT growth and the cooling procedure after crystal growth. Two β-SiC powders with different purities were employed, and the cooling rate after growth was adjusted to achieve various resistance values. 4-inch HPSI-SiC ingots were grown using the PVT method, utilizing SiC powders with low nitrogen concentration and relatively high nitrogen concentration. These ingots were then subjected to different cooling procedures to modify the cooling rate. Transmission/absorption spectra and crystal quality of the grown crystals were analyzed through UV/VIs/NIR spectroscopy and X-ray rocking curve analysis, respectively. Additionally, electrical properties were investigated through non-contact resistivity analysis to identify the dominant factors influencing resistivity properties.

More than 50% of refractory materials generated from high-temperature melting furnace was not carbonized and could be recycled by adopting proper separation process. In the present work, the separation of refractory materials has studied by adopting color sorting technology to promote the recycling of waste refractory. Purity of the refractory materials was obtained with at 97.2%, color temperature of sorter light source 6,500K, which gives less interference of surrounding light source. Purity and separation efficiency were improved as size is setting bigger and lower conveyer belt speed. It is revealed that optimum conditions were color temperature 6,500K, conveyer belt speed 1,000 mm/sec, particle size -20 mm, etc. To improve purity and separation efficiency on below 10mm size, the resolution of should be fixed camera and it narrow recognition range. As a result of the study, color sorting technology could be used for separation of waste refractory materials and will contribute to promote the waste recycling.

This work was initiated both to maximize purity of calcium fluoride sludge and to minimize water content in the settled sludge. The sludge was produced in the process of fluoride removal of semiconductor wastewater by the addition of $Ca^{2+}$ ion. Fludized bed reactor(FBR) using calcium fluoride as a seed was adapted. Optimum pH and molar ratio of $Ca^{2+}/F^-$ were determined in lab-scale study. The experimental results showed that fluoride removal was increased as pH and molar ratio of $Ca^{2+}/F^-$ increased, with the best removal of 79.8% in an optimum condition. In the optimum point of fluoride removal, very low ${PO_4}^{3-}$-P removal of 9.3% was observed. It indicates forming $CaF_2$ crystal of high purity, when side reaction of calcium with phosphate was minimized. In addition, water content of settled sludge was 19.3%, which is relatively low compared to other fluoride removal processes. Consequently, the FBR process proposed in this study was very effective in fluoride removal, producing good sludge of high purity and less water content.

A DDFS(Direct Digital Frequency Synthesizer) used in spread spectrum communication systems must need fast switching speed, high resolution(the step size of the synthesizer), small size and low power. The chip has been designed with four parallel sine look-up table to achieve four times throughput of a single DDFS. To achieve a high processing speed DDFS chip, a 24-bit pipelined CMOS technique has been applied to the phase accumulator design. To reduce the size of the ROM, each sine ROM of the DDFS is stored 0-.pi./2 sine wave data by taking advantage of the fact that only one quadrant of the sine needs to be stored, since the sine the sine has symmetric property. And the 8 bit of phase accumulator's output are used as ROM addresses, and the 2 MSBs control the quadrants to synthesis the sine wave. To compensate the spectrum purity ty phase truncation, the DDFS use a noise shaper that structure like a phase accumlator. The system input clock is divided clock, 1/2*clock, and 1/4*clock. and the system use a low frequency(1/4*clock) except MUX block, so reduce the power consumption. A 107MHz DDFS(Direct Digital Frequency Synthesizer) implemented using 0.8.mu.m CMOS gate array technologies is presented. The synthesizer covers a bandwidth from DC to 26.5MHz in steps of 1.48Hz with a switching speed of 0.5.mu.s and a turing latency of 55 clock cycles. The DDFS synthesizes 10 bit sine waveforms with a spectral purity of -65dBc. Power consumption is 276.5mW at 40MHz and 5V.
