We present a two-stage inverter with high step-up conversion ratio engaging modified finite-set Model Predictive Control (MPC) for utility-integrated photovoltaic (PV) applications. The anticipated arrangement is fit for low power PV uses, the calculated efficiency at 150 W input power and 19 times boosting ratio was around 94%. The suggested high-gain dc-dc converter based on Cockcroft-Walton multiplier constitutes the first-stage of the offered structure, due to its high step-up ability. It can boost the input voltage up to 20 times. The 3S current-source inverter constitutes the second-stage. The 3S current-source inverter hires three semiconductor switches, in which one is functioning at high-frequency and the others are operating at fundamental-frequency. The high-switching pulses are varied in the procedure of unidirectional sine-wave to engender a current coordinated with the utility-voltage. The unidirectional current is shaped into alternating current by the synchronized push-pull configuration. The MPC process are intended to control the scheme and achieve the subsequent tasks, take out the Maximum Power (MP) from the PV, step-up the PV voltage, and introduces low current with low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and with unity power factor with the grid voltage.

In this paper, a non-isolated high step-up and high efficiency boost converter is proposed. By using the 3-level boost converter structure, the proposed converter can obtain higher voltage gain than conventional high step-up converters. The voltage spike of the switching device is well clamped by using the clamp circuit composed of a clamp diode and a capacitor and the energy of the leakage inductor of coupled inductor is effectively transferred to output. Due to the 3-level structure, the equivalent switching frequency of the coupled inductor is doubled, which results in reduced inductor size. A 500 W prototype converter is built and tested to verify performance of the proposed converter.

This paper proposes the aggregated modeling and control of integated boost-flyback converter (IBFC) for understanding of dynamics characteristic and designing of relevant controller. The basic concept of the aggregated modeling is to substitute the boost or the flyback converter with an equivalent current source. Since each converter with equivalent current source corresponds to the basic boost and flyback converters, the overall mathematical process is significantly simplified for the modeling. Afterwards each result is combined to construct the complete model of the IBFC, and the relevant controller is designed through the achieved small-signal model. Simulation and experimental results show excellent agreement with the theoretical expectations.

A new phase-shifted parallel-input/series-output dual converter for high-power step-up applications has been proposed. It features a high efficiency due to the low switch turn-off voltage, low device stresses, low ripple contents, and a fast control-to-output dynamics compared to its PWM counterpart. To confirm the validity of the proposed converter, experimental results from an 800W, 350Vdc prototype are presented.

This paper presents a new single phase front-end ac-dc bridgeless power factor correction (PFC) rectifier topology. The proposed converter achieves a high efficiency over a wide range of input and output voltages, a high power factor, low line current harmonics and both step up and step down voltage conversions. This topology is based on a non-inverting buck-boost (Zeta) converter. In this approach, the input diode bridge is removed and a maximum of one diode conducts in a complete switching period. This reduces the conduction losses and the thermal stresses on the switches when compare to existing PFC topologies. Inherent power factor correction is achieved by operating the converter in the discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) which leads to a simplified control circuit. The characteristics of the proposed design, principles of operation, steady state operation analysis, and control structure are described in this paper. An experimental prototype has been built to demonstrate the feasibility of the new converter. Simulation and experimental results are provided to verify the improved power quality at the AC mains and the lower conduction losses of the converter.
This paper is study on a novel high efficiency step up-down converter using loss-less snubber capacitor. The proposed converter is accomplished that the turn-on operation of switches is on zero current switching (ZCS) by DCM. The converter is also applicable to a new quasi-resonant circuit to achieve high efficiency converter. The control switches using in the converter are operated with soft switching, that is, ZVS and ZCS by quasi-resonant method. The control switches are operated without increasing their voltage and current stresses by the soft switching technology. The result is that the switching loss is very low and the efficiency of the converter is high.

In this paper, authors propose a novel step-up AC-DC converter operated with power factor correction (PFC) and with high efficiency. The proposed converter behaves with discontinuous current control (DCC) of input current. The input current waveform in the proposed converter is got to be a discontinuous sinusoid form in proportion to magnitude of at input voltage under the constant duty cycle switching. Therefore, the input power factor is nearly unity and the control method is simple. In the general DCC converters, the switching devices are turned-on with the zero current switching (ZCS). But turn-off of the switching devices is done at the maximum current. To achieve a soft switching at turn-off, the proposed converter uses a new partial resonant circuit, which results in the very low switching loss and the high efficiency of converter.
A wide-voltage-conversion range bidirectional DC-DC converter is proposed in this paper. The topology is comprised of one typical LC energy storage component and a special common grounded asymmetric H-bridge with four active power switches/anti-parallel diodes. The narrow output PWM voltage is generated from the voltage difference between two normal (wider) output PWM voltages from the asymmetric H-bridge with duty cycles close to 0.5. The equivalent switching frequency of the output PWM voltage is double the actual switching frequency, and a wide step-down/step-up ratio range is achieved. A 300W prototype has been constructed to validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed bidirectional converter between the variable low voltage side (24V~48V) and the constant high voltage side (200V). The slave active power switches allow ZVS turn-on and turn-off without requiring any extra hardware. The maximum conversion efficiency is 94.7% in the step-down mode and 93.5% in the step-up mode. Therefore, the proposed bidirectional topology with a common ground is suitable for energy storage systems such as renewable power generation systems and electric vehicles with a hybrid energy source.

Many generating units can be in parallel connection to one battery and inverter. However, one of the biggest problems we encountered is that wind speed is fluctuated sharply in accordance with the unstable weather conditions. To solve this problem, we need energy storage equipment such as storage lead-acid battery. We design a system and analyze its modeling so that it supplies a stable power to the load through DC-AC inverter part. In this paper, we applied dual step-up/down buck-boost converter and dual high-frequency half-bridge converter to the proposed system. These converters are used to store energy in the battery regardless of the change of the wind speed. The operation process of two proposed types of converters for high-power battery charging is discussed along with simulation and experimental result. We design a charging circuit which is applicable in the actual wind power generation system for 30kw and confirm the circuit's validity.
This paper is studied on a novel buck-boost isolated converter for high efficiency and high power factor. The switching devices in the proposed converter are operated by soft switching technique using a new quasi-resonant circuit, and are driven with discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) according to pulse width modulation (PWM). The quasi-resonant circuit makes use of a step up-down inductor and a loss-less snubber capacitor. The proposed converter with DCM also simplifies the requirement of control circuit and reduces a number of control components. The input ac current waveform in the proposed converter becomes a quasi sinusoidal waveform in proportion to the magnitude of input ac voltage under constant switching frequency. As a result, it is obtained by the proposed converter that the switching power losses are low, the efficiency of the converter is high, and the input power factor is nearly unity. The validity of analytical results is confirmed by some simulation results on computer and experimental results.
