  • This paper presents a PFC(Power Factor Correction) system to control the power factor of input current of the converter system which is working in the propulsion system of KTX high speed train. In the KTX train system, initially introduced from ALSTOM, the thyristor converter with phase controlling technique is adopted in the current fed type powering system. The input current induces harmonic losses highly because the waveform becomes rectangular shapes according to the filter inductor current increased as the train speed increasing gradually. Especially the interference with the signalling systems is severe concerned due to high current harmonics on the catenary line. To protect this problem, a frequency trap filter(notch filter) is operating with the input converter system. In this paper, an analysis work and PC simulation have been done on the PFC system to upgrade its performance and maintenance efficiency.

  • Design of single state AC-DC converter with high power factor for low level applications is proposed. The proposed converter is obtained from the integration of a buck-boost converter and the half-bridge DC-DC converter. This converter gives the good power factor correction low line current harmonic distortions and tight output voltage regulations. This converter also has a high efficiency by employing an soft switching method and synchronous rectifier. The modelling and detailed analysis for the proposed converter are performed. To verify the performance of the proposed converter a 100W converter has been designed

  • In this paper, a proposed resonant PWM switching technique makes the boost AC/DC converter to high input power factor and less switching loss. Also, the switching control scheme is used which minimize harmonic components employing novel PWM technique. In addition, an employment of resonant circuit for switching makes zero current switching(ZCS) and zero voltage switching(ZVS) for control switches without switching losses. The result shows that high power factor is still for varying load and switching loss is very low.

  • The high power glass laser system was designed and constracted which consisted of a TEM$\_$00/ mode Q-switching oscillator, a pulse shaping, system, two-stage pre-amplifiers, five-stage main amplifiers, a Faraday rotator, and a uni-guide slit. The laser output of 3OGW with the pulsewidth of 2 nsec was obtained by performing the amplifiing experiment in this system. When the laser light with the pulsewidth of 10 nsec was amplified, the large factor of amplification was obtained in the beginning of pulse, but the factor of amplification decreased gradually in the later part of pulse. Therefore, the laser light which has short pulsewidth of-2nsec must be amplified in order to obtain the larger factor of amplification. When the laser beam from the high power glass laser system was irradiated to plasma, the reflected laser light from plasma which occured inevitably could be attenuated to the order of 10$\^$-4/ by using the Faraday rotator and the uni-guide slit.

  • Recently, LED (Light Emitting Diode) becomes to be useful to apply for the lightening sources in electric systems and the lightening equipment since the power is less consumed with high efficiency, and the size and the weight of LED are small and light, respectively. The LED is controlled with constant current and SMPS (Switching Mode Power Supply). It is necessary for the LED manufacturer to secure the fundamental technology of designing LED chip, and to study the methodology to improve the power factor (PF) and to design the operational circuit for the development of LED to reduce the power loss in the application of LED lightening. The direct AC (Alternating Current) LED driving circuit, HV9910, is widely used in the industry field. In this paper, it is to evaluate the improved methodology for the power factor and efficiency through simulations when PFC (Power Factor Correction) and Noise Filter are added to HV9910.

  • This paper deals with the design of the electronic ballast for high pressure sodium lamp, which consists of the ignitor and the resonant converter for driving the lamp. Also it contains PFC(Power Factor Controller) to improve such as power factor, low distortion etc. In this paper, we design the electronic ballast for the 150 watt high pressure sodium lamp.

  • A novel single-stage half-bridge high frequency resonant inverter using ZVS(Zero Voltage Switching) with high input power factor suitable for induction heating applications is presented in this paper. The proposed high frequency resonant Inverter integrates half-bridge boost rectifier as power factor corrector(PFC) and half-bridge resonant inverter into a single stage. The input stage of the half-bridge boost rectifier is working in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) with constant duty cycle and variable switching frequency. Simulation results through the Pspice have demonstrated the feasibility of the proposed inverter. This proposed inverter will be able to be practically used as a power supply in various fields as induction heating applications, DC-DC converter etc.

  • A simple discontinuous conduction mode(DCM) flyback type active power factor corrector for low power supply resents an effective resistive load to its power input. It is therefore well suited as an inexpensive high power factor rectifier for office equipment. An equivalent circuit model for the Active Power Factor Corrector based on the "Loss Free Resistor" concept is presented. This simple model correctly describes the basic power processing properties of the Active Power Factor Corrector, including input port resistor emulation, output port power some characteristics.teristics.

  • This paper proposes a LED lighting system using integrated power system composed of bridgeless PFC, LLC DC-DC transformer, and dimmable constant current LED driver module. The proposed LED lighting system features high efficiency, high power factor, and dimming capability. In order to verify the validity of the proposed system, the 2kW prototype system was built and tested. From the experimental results, it was confirmed that the maximun efficiency of 92.6% and maximum power factor of 99.7% can be achieved.

  • Rectifiers of power conversion system are widely used condenser at input to be cheap and to be simple construction. But this method is produced harmonics of pulse at peak value of input AC voltage. The main circuit which make input current of a sinusoidal wave and improve power-factor is almost taken step-up converter. This paper is able to obtain high power-factor and efficiency because the input current is made sinusoidal wave in single phase alternating current(AC) source. Also the proposed converter is able to minimize switching loss by ZVCS(zero voltage switching and zero current switching).
